Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for sorting items on automatic sorting devices according to the preamble of claim 1.
- each distribution area has a distribution center in which the shipments are sorted to the required sorting depth up to the distribution order for a deliverer. Shipments that are received by customers for the first time are first read in the distribution center, sorted by distribution area and then dispatched to the distribution centers of the distribution areas concerned, or sorted to the required sorting depth for shipments that need only be distributed within that distribution center.
- the incoming items eg letters, large letters, magazines, etc.
- the address is read online, first with an automatic OCR reader and if necessary with the help of online -Videokod ist.
- at least the part of the address characterizing the distribution area must be read unambiguously.
- an identification (ID tag) is applied (as a sticker or printed directly) and the shipment is in sorted a special bin (Refeed tray) 3.
- These programs are then offline video-coded 4, the result is not satisfactory, is again video-coded. Subsequently, the items are presorted in an additional run 1.
- consignments is then checked whether the address for the required sorting depth, for example, until the sequence of delivery of the deliverer was read completely 5. If yes, the consignments are stored in one or more bins for the corresponding distribution area 6. If No, the shipment receives an ID, if it does not yet have one, and is also stored in this sort bin. Before the consignments from this sorting bin are subjected to a fine sorting according to the required sorting depth, the incompletely read consignments with the ID tags must be offline-video-coded, ie little time is available for video coding, in particular for the mail items that remain in this distribution area that the number of video coding stations must be increased.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a generic sorting method in which the time available for offline video coding prior to fine sorting is increased.
- the additional time for video coding is obtained by dividing the programs in the pre-sorting by the distribution areas for each distribution area in terminals, e.g. Sorting compartments, for already completely read programs and in terminals for incompletely read broadcasts are sorted and mixed not as previously completely and incompletely read broadcasts. This makes it possible to fine-tune immediately the completely read (OCR-read and / or online-video coded) broadcasts and to use this time for offline video coding of the incompletely read broadcasts.
- Fine sorting takes place on different sorting devices, which are completely video-coded for a respective second pre-sorting / refeeding run, and local mailings are advantageously carried out directly of the fine sorting.
- FIG. 1 and 2 have already been explained in the prior art.
- the incoming items are also sorted in one or more sorting devices onto the different distribution areas.
- the address is read after the separation of each item. This is done with an automatic OCR reader and, if this is not successful, with the aid of an online video encoding in which only the necessary address for sorting on the distribution areas address part (postcode, post code) is video-encoded.
- the program receives an identification (ID tag) and it is sorted into a special sorting compartment (Refeed compartment) 3. These programs are then video-coded offline 4, if required Repeat loop. Thereafter, these shipments are pre-sorted in an additional run. In the sortable to the distribution areas broadcasts is then checked whether the address for the required sorting depth in fine sorting was read completely and uniquely and applied as a barcode 5. If this is the case, then the programs are sorted into compartments as terminals for completely and uniquely read broadcasts of the determined distribution areas. 11. As soon as enough items have been sorted, they are taken from the sorting compartments (automatic or manual) and fed to fine sorting.
- the next step is to check whether the items already have an ID tag. If so, they are sorted into compartments for incomplete (partially encoded) broadcasts of the identified distribution areas 12. If an ID tag is not present, it will first be applied to the program 9. Subsequently, the offline coding is performed to completely read the address with the application of a bar code with the address in coded form. For this offline video coding, the time span in which the completely read programs are already sorted for this distribution area is additionally used. This can be used to save video encoding slots. This effect is greatest for the broadcasts to be encoded for the local distribution area, since no significant transport time (transport of broadcasts between the distribution centers) can be used for video coding. Subsequently, these items are also provided for fine sorting 13.
- FIG. 4 It is shown schematically that in a sorting device 20 for each distribution area 1-n the terminals (compartments) 21 are divided into terminals for transmissions with fully read addresses 21a and in terminals for programs with fully read addresses 21b.
- FIG. 5a and 5b is clearly illustrated the principle of additional time savings for offline video coding of the full address.
- FIG. 5a shows the timing in the pre-sorting and fine sorting of local broadcasts, ie broadcasts from the area of the distribution (sorting) center whose recipient addresses also fall within the range of this distribution center.
- the presorting is carried out in parallel on 1 to x sorting devices, the subsequent fine sorting on the same sorting devices in succession.
- FIG. 5b the time sequence for parallel fine sorting is shown on different sorting devices. As can be seen, this is the largest percentage of time saved.

Description
The invention relates to a method for sorting items on automatic sorting devices according to the preamble of
In the case of postal services, the distribution of shipments is divided into distribution areas. Each distribution area has a distribution center in which the shipments are sorted to the required sorting depth up to the distribution order for a deliverer. Shipments that are received by customers for the first time are first read in the distribution center, sorted by distribution area and then dispatched to the distribution centers of the distribution areas concerned, or sorted to the required sorting depth for shipments that need only be distributed within that distribution center.
In the sortable to the distribution areas consignments is then checked whether the address for the required sorting depth, for example, until the sequence of delivery of the deliverer was read completely 5. If yes, the consignments are stored in one or more bins for the
Before the consignments from this sorting bin are subjected to a fine sorting according to the required sorting depth, the incompletely read consignments with the ID tags must be offline-video-coded, ie little time is available for video coding, in particular for the mail items that remain in this distribution area that the number of video coding stations must be increased.
The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a generic sorting method in which the time available for offline video coding prior to fine sorting is increased.
According to the invention the object is achieved according to the features of
The additional time for video coding is obtained by dividing the programs in the pre-sorting by the distribution areas for each distribution area in terminals, e.g.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are shown in the subclaims.
Thus, it is advantageous to transport the presorted shipments divided into fully read and incompletely read shipments to the distribution centers of those distribution areas where the transport time is less than the time period for the fine sorting of their local, fully read shipments. In each distribution center, the fine sorting of the incompletely read programs that are to be video-coded offline is then performed only after the fine sorting of all separately transmitted, completely read programs. This provides additional time savings for offline video encoding.
It is also advantageous to carry out the fine sorting successively on the same sorting devices in order to keep the number of sorting devices as low as possible.
In order to realize the sorting processes in the shortest possible time, it is advantageous to carry out the fine sorting in parallel on different sorting devices.
To obtain extra time for offline video coding just before fine sorting, in parallel processes, i. Fine sorting takes place on different sorting devices, which are completely video-coded for a respective second pre-sorting / refeeding run, and local mailings are advantageously carried out directly of the fine sorting.
Subsequently, the invention will be explained in more detail in an embodiment with reference to the drawing.

If this address section could not be determined correctly 2, then the program receives an identification (ID tag) and it is sorted into a special sorting compartment (Refeed compartment) 3. If separate, completely read, finely sorted consignments from other distribution centers are added separately, where the transport times are shorter than the times for fine sorting of the local fully read consignments, these consignments are also fine sorted before the programs to be coded offline. This increases the time available for offline video coding again.
