Also, a tantalum content of greater than about 4 percent, with the present levels of columbium, titanium, and hafnium, produces a nickel-base superalloy with too much gamma prime phase and resulting instability.
  • the alloy contains from about 0.1 to about 1.2 percent titanium. Titanium is a potent gamma prime hardener, and at least about 0.1 percent must be present in order to compensate for the reduced tantalum content.
