Abstract

The body of the bottle extends gradually from a base whose cross section is approximately a square with rounded corners, to a maximum circular cross section at the beginning of the rounded shoulder; the circular cross section of the shoulder is inscribed in the square cross section of the base. <IMAGE>

Description

The subject of the invention is a bottle in which the body extends gradually from a base whose cross section is approximately square with rounded corners, to a maximum circular cross section at the beginning of the rounded shoulder which continues with the neck; said maximum circular cross section is inscribed in the square cross section of the base.
US Pat. No. 1635811 shows a squat flacon with a square base and a large mouth.
The appended drawings show exhaustively two equivalent forms of the bottle; in particular:

fig. 1 is a side view of a first bottle, viewed along line I-I in fig. 2;
figs 2, 3 and 4 are a view on II-II, a section on III-III and a view on IV-IV as shown in fig. 1; and
fig. 5 is a side view as shown at V-V in fig. 4, at an angle of 45° relative to fig. 1;
fig. 6 is a side view of a second bottle, as shown at VI-VI in fig. 7;
figs 7, 8, 9 and 10 are a view on VII-VII, two sections on VIII-VIII and IX-IX and a view on X-X as shown in fig. 6; and

The bottle of figs 1 to 5 has a square base with rounded corners, from which flat side walls directly extend, with rounded edges that steadily become wider while the flat walls shrink, eventually giving rise to the circular sections at the beginning of the curved shoulder of revolution, which then continues with the neck.
The bottle shown in figs 6 to 11 has a similar body to that of the previous bottle, but its base widens out with a concave connecting curvature.
As can be seen in figs 4 and 10 the greatest circular cross section of the shoulder is inscribed in the square cross section of the base. This makes the bottle very stable, which is useful in the handling which it undergoes.

Claims

A bottle characterised in that the body extends gradually from a base whose cross section is approximately a square with rounded corners, to a maximum circular cross section at the beginning of a rounded shoulder, which continues with a neck; the maximum circular cross section being inscribed in the square cross section of the base, thus making the bottle very stable, which is useful in the handling which it undergoes.
