Description

The present invention relates to a method of processing paper webs for the manufacture of paper for impregnation with synthetic resins, comprising the following steps.

It also relates to a paper for impregnation with synthetic resins.

The invention will find application mainly in the field of stratification stratification high and / or low pressure supports such as particle board, wood fiber, plywood or other.

The papers for impregnation with synthetic resins are commonly called "Dekorpapier", a term of German origin.

Dekorpapier is a paper intended for impregnation with synthetic resins. This paper is, after printing or not, impregnated to be stamped (lamination) on supports such as particle board, wood fiber board, plywood or other.

Such "laminate" supports are used as a replacement for wood in the furniture industry, as well as for floor coverings, wall coverings and the like.

Therefore, are concerned by the invention, not only the paper industries, for its transformation, but also those related to the application of "Dekorpapier" including furniture.

In the field of furniture, it is frequently used "Dekorpapier" applicable under pressure and under temperature on a support of the particleboard type wood fiber or plywood.

On the basis of sheet made from paper and optionally comprising fillers, an impression of a desired pattern is made.

This pattern frequently mimics the natural look of the wood with the desired color.

Following printing or before, impregnation is carried out by means of different chemical mixtures based on resins.

The material thus obtained is applied to the physical medium to be covered, for example the panel of a piece of furniture.

The current "Dekorpapier" is therefore a paper as it is, without pretreatment.

The document WO-A-94/12347 shows the manufacture of an applicable film on panels. This film is impregnated with resins before other treatments.

EP-A-0022153 discloses a method of making decorative paper. This is a finishing step by successive coatings without treatment at heart.

The document FR-A-2414578 shows support materials containing a duroplastic resin by complete impregnation and a radiation curable polyester resin coating. According to this document, complete impregnation is still carried out and the manufacturing procedure is very complex.

EP-A-0875623 also shows a process for making decorative paper with conventional steps and in particular a complete impregnation of the paper.

Cet état de la technique révèle qu'une imprégnation totale du papier est systématiquement opérée et ce, sans traitement préalable visant à limiter la consommation de résines lors de l'imprégnation et à augmenter la qualité d'impressionThis state of the art reveals that a total impregnation of the paper is systematically carried out and without prior treatment to limit the consumption of resins during the impregnation and to increase the quality of printing

The state of the art in general has several disadvantages.

First, the print quality is clearly optimizable.

Généralement, on réalise une impression par héliogravure par laquelle l'encre a tendance à se diffuser à l'intérieur du « Dekorpapier » à cause d'une trop grande porosité de celui-ci.Generally, a gravure printing is performed by which the ink tends to diffuse inside the "Dekorpapier" because of too much porosity thereof.

This diffusion is detrimental to the accuracy of the desired pattern as well as the ink consumption.

So we are currently getting only "Dekorpapier" with low resolution patterns and still require large quantities of inks.

Moreover, the current processes implement a step of impregnating the paper web with resins.

This important manufacturing step requires large quantities of raw material (resin mixture) to allow sufficient impregnation of the paper.

Here again, the heavy consumption caused by the current processes increases the cost of manufacturing the "Dekorpapier" without necessarily achieving optimal mechanical properties of the final product.

The present invention aims to overcome the disadvantages of currently used methods.

To do this, it has a process for treating paper strips for the production of paper for impregnation with synthetic resins. It also relates to a paper for impregnation with synthetic resins.

According to the invention, prior to the conventional steps of printing and final impregnation of the paper web, pretreatment steps are carried out whose purposes and advantages are introduced hereinafter.

The object of the invention is to significantly improve the quality of these papers and at the same time to obtain a reduction of certain products used as a filler in these technical papers.

These improvements consist mainly in obtaining a paper surface optimally suitable for printing, without preventing the paper once printed from absorbing the quantity of resin necessary for lamination on supports such as particles, wood fiber panels, plywood or others.

The rotogravure printing of decorative papers has the characteristic of giving an inaccurate image in the photographic reproduction of the structures of the wood.

The invention makes it possible to obtain a different surface from the decor papers, thus making it possible, with the use of modified aqueous printing inks, to fix the photographic image with a better fidelity.

According to one embodiment of the invention, these papers are obtained with the following treatment. In a paper decorated with standard technical values but with reduced pigment fillers, is inserted inside a mixture of melamine-formaldehyde resins, urea formaldehyde, self-crosslinking acrylics and hardeners.

After drying follows a second treatment with a mixture of melamine-formaldehyde resins, urea formaldehyde, self-crosslinking acrylics, hardeners and pigments.

After drying, a surface is obtained allowing a high fidelity printing.

Depending on the desired use, for example printing, calendering is performed to obtain the optimal smoothness for high-fidelity gravure printing.

Here is presented a system of treatment in multiple phases of paper for lamination on paper, particle board, wood fiber panels, or other treated inside with a mixture of melamine-formaldehyde resins, urea formaldehyde, acrylic self-crosslinking and hardeners, and then on the surface with a blend of melamine-formaldehyde resins, urea formaldehyde, self-crosslinking acrylics, hardeners, and pigments, obtaining a high-fidelity printing result using special aqueous inks, and at the same time, a saving of pigments in the paper basic.

As regards the quality of the printing, the "Dekorpapier" obtained by the implementation of the invention makes it possible, with an upper smoothness, a printing of a higher fidelity as well as a significant economy of the inks of printing, especially in aqueous inks.

In terms of impregnation, the quantities necessary for the final impregnation of the decor paper are greatly reduced without reducing the adhesion to the substrates and / or the surface strength of the finished product.

At present, the papers require impregnation with melamine / urea and / or pure melamine resins of a weight approximately equal to the weight of the base papers.

On the contrary, by the implementation of the invention, the quantity of resins used is substantially reduced with an equivalent final result, that is to say identical mechanical properties (surface resistance and adhesion to the supports).

Other objects and advantages will become apparent from the description which follows, which presents a preferred embodiment of the invention but which is not limiting thereto.
