Definitions
- the invention relates to pipettes for taking liquid samples.
- a sampling pipette capable of receiving at its lower end a disposable cone fixed frictionally with the pipette.
- the pipette comprises an elector which can be actuated by means of a button adjacent to a sampling button. Pushing the button pushes the cone in the opposite direction to the pipette when you want to change this usage cone for a new cone.
- the ejector comprises an arm having a lower part intended to come into direct contact with the cone and an upper part to which the lower part is fixed by friction fitting in the longitudinal direction of the pipette.
- This fitting makes it possible to assemble the lower part of the ejector on the pipette quickly and easily and to dismantle it with the same advantages.
- the ejector follows the cone and its speed increases suddenly. The movement of the ejector is then suddenly stopped because the upper part abuts on the pipette body. The same braking stress is transmitted to the lower part, at the level of the friction fitting.
- this solicitation goes against this fitting and tends to separate the lower and upper parts from one another. After a certain number cone ejections, it can therefore happen that the lower part of the ejector separates from the pipette in an untimely manner.
- Document O96 / 37302 provides in the embodiment of FIG. 19 an ejector, the lower part of which intended to push the cone is fitted in the longitudinal direction of the pipette in an upper part of the ejector.
- a fixing tab keeps the two parts connected to each other avoiding their untimely separation.
- disassembly of the lower part requires reaching the tongue and is quite inconvenient.
- An object of the invention is to provide a pipette of a different type avoiding untimely separation of the lower part of the ejector but whose ejector remains easy to dismantle.
- a sampling pipette comprising a body and an arm movable relative to the body for ejecting in a longitudinal direction from the pipette a cone fixed to the pipette, the arm comprising a first part able to come into contact with the cone and a second part, in which the two parts are fitted one inside the other allowing the first part to be separated from the body from an operating position by an initial movement in a direction essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
- the pipette is arranged so that the fitting direction is lateral; - the pipette is arranged so that the fitting direction is unique;
- one of the arm parts has a “T” shape capable of being received in a housing of the other part of corresponding shape;
- the pipette is arranged so that the two parts can be separated from each other without first disassembling the pipette;
- the pipette body forms an obstacle to the separation of the two parts at least when the arm extends at a high end of the ejection stroke;
- FIG. 2 is a partial view in axial section of the pipette showing the location of the mechanism of Figure 1;
- FIGS. 3 and 4 are two perspective views of the actuator of the mechanism of Figure 1;
- FIG. 5 is a partial view in axial section along the plane V-V of the actuator of Figure 3;
- FIG. 5A is an axial sectional view along the plane A-A of the actuator of Figure 5;
- FIG. 6 and 7 are two rear and left views of the connecting screw of the mechanism of Figure 1;
- - Figures 8 and 9 are two cross-sectional views along the planes VIII-VIII and IX-IX of the screw of Figure 7;
- FIGS. 10 and 11 are two perspective views in axial section of the ejector rod of the mechanism of Figure 1;
- FIG. 12 is a top view of the ejector rod of Figure 10.
- FIG. 13 is a diagram showing the placement of the ejector rod on the pipette.
- the sampling pipette according to the present embodiment of the invention is of the same type as that of document FR-2 696 110. Reference will therefore be made to this document for certain details of the pipette already known from this document. Only certain aspects of the cone ejector mechanism will be described here in detail.
- the pipette 2 conventionally comprises a body 2 serving as a grip handle by the user's hand.
- the pipette comprises a movable piston 6 sliding along a longitudinal axis 10 of the pipette in a lower cavity of the pipette in order to draw therein a volume of liquid to be withdrawn or to expel it from this cavity.
- the displacement of the piston is controlled in particular by means of an axis control rod 10 connected in the lower part to the piston by parts of a known type.
- This rod is surmounted at its upper end by a push button rigidly fixed to the rod, which the user can operate with the thumb of the hand holding the pipette.
- the piston lowers and goes up according to the same movement of the button.
- the pipette includes a return spring capable of replacing the piston and the rod in the upper part at the end of their downward stroke for expelling the liquid, and a purge spring adding its effect to that of the previous spring when the stroke piston continues down for a purge stroke.
- the pipette has a lower tip 7 capable of receiving, as is well known, a disposable sampling cone 9 frictionally attached to the outside of the lower tip.
- the pipette includes a cone ejector mechanism illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- This mechanism comprises, from top to bottom in the longitudinal direction of the pipette, a control button 12, an actuator 14, a connecting screw, 16, a knurl 18 and an ejector rod 20.
- the ejector mechanism of FIG. 1 extends in the rear part of the pipette, that is to say on the side of the palm of the user's hand.
- the actuator 14 has a general shape elongated from top to bottom, tapering towards the bottom. It is housed in the body 2 of the pipette while being movable to slide in the latter along the axis 10.
- the pipette is arranged so that a downward pressure on the button 12 causes the actuator 14 to descend.
- the connection between the button and the actuator can be of a type known per se and will not be described here.
- a return spring 20, illustrated in FIG. 2 ensures the raising of the actuator 14 when the stress on the button 12 ceases.
- the actuator 14 has a lower end formed by a female attachment part 22.
- This part is profiled in a direction parallel to the axis 10 and has a shaped cross section. general of "U”, more precisely in the form of an ellipse portion, the two branches 24 of the "U” moving closer to each of their two ends.
- the opening 26 of the "U” is directed laterally, here towards the left side of the pipette.
- the lower edge of the attachment part 22 has a shoulder forming a step 28 extending radially projecting towards the inside of the "U”. This shoulder, however, also has a "U" shape.
- Each branch 24 is separated from the rest of the actuator by a horizontal notch 30 extending from a point located approximately half the length of the branch to its free end.
- the attachment part forms a cavity 32 between the branches 24.
- the connecting screw 16 has an upper head 34.
- the head 34 comprises a support 36 in the general shape of a rectangular parallelepiped and a male attachment part 38 able to penetrate into the female attachment part 22 of the actuator.
- the male attachment part 38 has a profiled shape parallel to the axis 10 and presents transversely to this axis a generally elliptical shape.
- the connecting screw 16 has a core 40 from which the support 36 extends upwards, being offset laterally relative to the latter.
- the male part 38 has a height less than that of the support 36.
- the upper ends of the male part 38 and of the support 36 are at the same level but the male part extends away from the core 40, to allow passage between them of the step 28.
- the male part 38 extends to the right projecting from the support 36, and likewise towards the front and the rear. It has a T-shaped profile in view of left and right.
- the male part 38 is able to be received by fitting into the female part 22 in a lateral direction perpendicular to the axis 10.
- the branches 24 move apart then come closer, producing a click indicating the arrival of the male part in the receiving position
- the bending of the branches is allowed by the notches 30 and the material used which is here a thermoplastic material.
- the step 28 is placed between the male part 38 and the core 40.
- the connecting screw 16 is thus rigidly fixed to the actuator 14. This fixing is removable.
- the assembly and disassembly are carried out by a movement in translation of the screw relative to the actuator in a left-right lateral direction.
- the core 40 of the connecting screw comprises a flattened upper plate 42 and a thin lower part 44 with an essentially rectangular profile.
- the ejector rod 20 has an elongated shape in the vertical direction. It has an essentially hollow and open transverse profile. However, this profile is closed at the lower end 48 of the rod to form a threaded sliding ring on a lower end piece 50 of the body 2 forming the free end 7 as illustrated in FIG. 2. This ring is able to come in direct contact with the cone in order to eject it.
- the rod 20 has an essentially non-rectilinear shape to form the junction between this lower end 48 extending in the axis 10 of the pipette and the rear part of the pipette in the upper part of the rod off-axis with respect to the axis 10.
- the rod has an upper vertical duct 52 with a rectangular transverse profile extending from an upper face 54 of the rod to a notch 56 extending the rod horizontally from its rear face to its front side.
- the rod has a lower duct 58 coaxial with the upper duct 52, but this time with a circular transverse profile.
- the diameter of the lower duct 58 is equal to the width of the profile of the upper duct 52, as is the diameter of the threaded rod 46 of the screw 16 is equal to the width of the lower part 44 of the support.
- the wheel 18 has in its center a threaded conduit to form a screw-nut connection with the rod 46 of the screw 16.
- the knob 18 extends in the notch 56, coaxially with the conduits 52, 58.
- the screw 16 enters the two conduits and the knurl.
- the male part 38 extends projecting from the upper face 54, the rectangular part 44 of the support housed in the upper duct 52 blocks the rod 20 to rotate relative to the screw but allows their relative sliding.
- the knob 18 forms a screw-nut connection with the rod 46 of the screw.
- the lower part of the latter is slidably received in the lower conduit 58.
- the rod 20 is therefore connected to the pipette on the one hand by the connecting screw 16 and on the other hand by the ring 48 threaded on the nozzle. .
- the knob 18 is directly accessible by the user behind the pipette through the notch.
- the rotation of the wheel causes the rod 20 to rise or fall by sliding with respect to the body 2 parallel to the axis 10, in order to adjust its position according to the type of disposable cone used.
- the button 12 is lowered until the rod 20 is placed at the bottom end of the stroke, which pushes the cone down and detaches it from the pipette.
- the male 38 and female 22 parts are housed in the body 2 of the pipette and inaccessible to the user. Moreover, they are protected from shocks and dirt. The rod 20 cannot be removed in this position.
- the button 12 is lowered to place the rod at the bottom end of the stroke.
- the male and female parts then appear.
- the rod 20 is then urged laterally to separate the male and female parts as mentioned above and as illustrated in FIG. 13. This produces an inclination of the rod 20 relative to the body of the pipette, inclination allowed by the eu at ring 48.
- slide the lower part of the rod downwards to disengage it from the pipette.
- Reassembly is carried out by following the reverse operations. The assembly of the rod 20 and the disassembly are done without effort, unlike the longitudinal connection by friction known from the prior art.
- the rod 20, the knob 18 and the screw 16 constitute a first part of the ejector arm capable of being fitted laterally in the second part of the arm formed by the actuator.
- the rod 20 cannot be separated from the actuator 14 by sliding parallel to the axis 10. Separation by relative lateral movement is necessary beforehand. No untimely separation is therefore to be feared when ejecting a cone.
- the wheel 18 allows adjustment of the length of the ejector arm, formed by the actuator 14 and the rod 20, from a continuous range of length values.
- the characteristics relating to the adjustment of the length of the arm can be implemented from a continuous range of values independently of those relating to the two parts of arm fitted into one another and removable in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
