Stand der TechnikState of the art

With the progressive spread of fieldbus systems in control systems get tools for rational Commissioning and maintenance of such fieldbus systems increasing importance. From the article "Electronics Practice No. 23, p.108-110 "is a diagnostic facility known for a fieldbus. The one described therein Diagnostic device performs the task of diagnostic data for a fieldbus as a plain text message or for example as a histogram for long-term analyzes as visualized To provide representation. Content is the Localization of fault locations in sporadically occurring Transmission errors, monitoring the line quality of Fiber optic links and messages from bus modules via their Peripheral faults displayed.

In FIG. 1 shows the arrangement according to the invention of a diagnostic device with a diagnosis device 11 for a fieldbus. The fieldbus-specific diagnostic information is stored in the fieldbus interface module 4 for further processing in the diagnostic device 11 . The field bus interface module 4 is coupled with its I / O interface 8 to the PLC I / O bus 6 located in the PLC 1 , so that the field bus interface module 4 can be addressed in the same way by the control application 3 , like the I / O units 5. Frequently, a display device 10 is connected to the PLC 1 , which includes a visualization application 13 associated with the control application 3 . All the necessary information is transmitted via the data connection 18 between the external interface of the PLC 7 and the external interface of the PC 17 . As an additional component, the diagnostic device 11 is activated in the display device 10 , which receives the fieldbus related diagnostic information for further processing or for displaying output. In order that the transmission of the diagnostic information from the fieldbus interface module 4 to the diagnostic device 11 can take place without adaptation or programming of the control application or visualization application, interfaces 2, 12 provide for the corresponding data assignment. Via the software interface 28 , the operation of the diagnostic device 11 from the visualization application out, feedback from the diagnostic device 11 is also carried out via this software interface 28 to the visualization application 10th

The external interface 7 of the PLC 1 may be a V24 interface or an Ethernet interface or an interface for another type of transmission, such as parallel transmission.
In the display device 10 with the visualization application 13 , the data received via the external interface 17 in the PC 10 visualization information and diagnostic information for the fieldbus. The interface 12 in the PC 10 directs the received information according to their affiliation either to the visualization application 13 or to the diagnostic device 11 on. Visualization information is passed to the visualization application 13 , diagnostic information is passed to the diagnostic device 11 via the internal logical channel 15 . The visualization application 13 is not influenced in its functional property. The switching of all logical connections also happens in the reverse direction, so that commands and parameters can be transmitted via the data connection 18 and the PLC I / O bus 6 from the diagnostic device 11 to the fieldbus interface module 4 . From the visualization application 13 , parameters or programs for the control application 3 can be transmitted to the PLC 1 via the data link 18 . Of course, the application 13 on the PC may also be a programming application for the PLC or a configuration application or programming application for the fieldbus. The interface 12 in the PC 10 may consist of a software-programmable data processing unit or of a hardware-executed component.

FIG. 2 shows by way of example a field bus 27 connected to the field bus interface module 4 . This is, for example, an INTERBUS system, although it may also be another fieldbus system. The fieldbus 27 typically contains bus lines 21 and modules 23, 25, 26 connected thereto , which have peripheral circuits as connection to sensors or actuators or other devices of the automation technology. A bus terminal 22 is shown as an example only for the INTERBUS system for coupling a plurality of bus modules 23 as a functional grouping. A fault 24 on the connection line in front of the module 26 generates an error which is stored in the field bus interface module 4 with the widest possible information content (type of fault, duration, location, etc.).

In Fig. 3 , a diagnostic device 21 is shown as it receives its diagnostic information in a known manner. A physical connection 19 provided for this purpose transports the diagnostic information to the diagnosis device 11. In the reverse direction, instructions and parameters for bus operation can be sent from the diagnosis device 11 to the fieldbus interface module 4 . The SPS.I / O bus 6 contains only I / O data, so that the control application 3 can receive this data directly. Only visualization information or other control-specific data is transmitted by the control application 3 via the data connection 20 between the interfaces 7 and 17 , and in the reverse direction only control-specific parameters or programs for the control application 3 are transmitted by the visualization application 13 .
