Description

The invention relates to an antenna emitting electromagnetic radiation comprising a set of turns. It relates more particularly, but not exclusively, to a wire antenna which is formed from a sheet or ribbon of parallel wires.

The document EP0289136 describes a device according to the preamble of claim 1. In the following, we will consider as a preferred example a transmitting wire antenna for transmitting square signals in a relatively narrow frequency band. Such an emission device is used, in particular for transmitting signals from a motor vehicle to a portable object normally held by the holder of the vehicle; after an interrogation transmitted from the vehicle to the object, the latter emits to the vehicle an identification signal which is used to allow the unlocking of the doors and / or the actuating contact of the vehicle. This communication system between the vehicle and the portable object avoids the introduction of keys into locks.

In general, a transmitter should transmit only the frequencies for which it is intended so as not to cause interference in other frequency areas that are usually used for other transmissions. In the the case of the emission of square signals, the risks of transmission in adjacent frequency bands are important.

The invention results from the observation that undesired emissions are mainly caused by parasitic capacitances as well as inductances of turns.

To reduce these parasitic capacitances and inductances, the invention provides that the emitting turns form a sheet of wires in which a turn is provided at a reference potential, such as the mass, between two emission turns.

It has been found that with this arrangement, parasitic capacitances between turns are reduced, which prevents the emission of signals outside the frequency band used.

The turns taken to the reference voltage may be active or inactive, that is to say they constitute emission turns or they constitute only protective turns or shielding.

In the first case (emission turns), all the turns taken to the reference potential constitute a set of turns in parallel analogous to a single turn.

In one embodiment, the antenna is associated with a transmission circuit in which the signals to be transmitted are applied to a controlled switch so as to make it alternately conducting and blocked and the antenna comprises a primary inductance consisting of a spire or several turns in parallel and a secondary inductance in series with this primary inductance, this inductance comprising one or more turns in series. The controlled switch is connected to the junction between these two inductors, a capacitor being disposed across all the two inductors in series and the mounting is such that, when the switch is conductive, the primary inductance is charged with energy, and when the switch is open, this energy is supplied to the oscillating circuit constituted by the two series inductances and the capacitor, the loss resistance of this oscillating circuit being negligible.

Thus, the two inductors, which constitute the antenna, form an autotransformer. With this embodiment, the intensity of the current emitted is particularly high. In addition, the transmission is fast.

In short, the invention relates to a wire antenna for a device for transmitting periodic radioelectric signals in a determined band of frequencies comprising a set of wire turns. This antenna is such that two emitting turns are separated by a turn taken to a reference potential such as ground.

The turn (or turns) taken at a reference potential may also constitute one (or more) turn (es) of emission. In this case, several turns brought to a reference potential can be arranged in parallel.

In one embodiment, the coil (s) carried at a reference potential and the other emitter turns form an autotransformer.

The turns are for example part of a sheet of son integral with each other.

In one embodiment, the connection of the turns to each other is performed by means of a board (24) of printed circuit type.

When the turn (es) brought to a reference potential constitutes a transmission turn (es), the antenna can be used in a vehicle information transmission device to a portable object located near the vehicle, this device being intended to transmit signals alternately conducting and blocked a controlled switch, such as a transistor, this device being such that, for transmission, at least one primary turn of emission and, in series with this primary turn, secondary turns in series, the controlled switch being connected to the junction between the primary turn and the secondary turns, a capacitor being arranged across all of these turns in series, the mounting being such that when the switch is conductive, the primary coil is charged with energy, and when the switch is open, this energy is supplied to the oscillating circuit formed by all the series of turns and the capacitor.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent with the description of some of its embodiments, this being done with reference to the attached drawings in which:
  • the figure 1 represents a transmitting device on board a vehicle,
  • the figure 2 represents the turns of the device of the figure 1 arranged according to the invention,
  • the figure 2a shows a detail of the antenna shown on the figure 2 ,
  • the figure 3 is a diagram similar to that of the figure 1 for another transmission device,
  • the figure 4 represents an embodiment according to the invention of the emission turns of the device of the figure 3 , and

The antennas that will be described in relation to the figures, in particular the Figures 2 and 4 , are intended for the transmission of information from a motor vehicle to a portable object nearby. Such wired antennas are excited by square signals. The figure 1 and the figure 3 represent exemplary embodiments of transmission circuits.

The transmission circuit, known in itself, represented on the figure 1 comprises, between a terminal 10, on which is applied the positive pole of a battery of the vehicle, and the ground, an inductor 12 and a MOS transistor 14. The common point of the transistor 14 and the inductor 12 is connected to the mass via a capacitor 16, an emission coil or antenna 18, and a resistor 20.

On the control electrode 14 1 of the transistor 14, square signals are applied which render the transistor alternately blocked and conductive.

When the transistor 14 is conductive, the inductor 12 accumulates energy that it returns to the antenna 18 when the transistor is blocked.

The signals applied to the electrode 14 1 of the transistor 14 can be modulated in two different ways. In the first manner, the slots applied on the electrode 14 1 have a constant frequency but a transmission over several periods corresponds, for example, to a "1" while an absence of emission corresponds to a "0". Such all-or-nothing control is sometimes referred to as amplitude modulation. It can be used to emit a wake-up signal from a nearby badge.

The control signals of the transistor may also be modulated in frequency, that is to say that the information to be transmitted by the antenna 18 is represented by the frequency of the square signals applied to the control electrode of the transistor 14.

The antenna 18 consists of turns each of which has the general shape of a rectangle. These turns are embedded in the roof of the vehicle (not shown) and are formed from a sheet of insulated wires 22 1 to 22 7 forming a ribbon.

Pour simplifier, un seul chemin conducteur 26 a été représenté sur la figure 2a.The ends of the wires are connected to a printed circuit board 24 ( figure 2a ) which comprises conductive paths allowing the turns to be connected in series in the following order: 22 1 , 22 3 , 22 5 , 22 2 , 22 4 , 22 6 and 22 7 . The even-rank turns 22 2 , 22 4 and 22 6 each have a ground terminal. For simplicity, only one conductive path 26 has been shown on the figure 2a .

Thus, the inductance with seven turns 22 1 to 22 7 comprises an alternation of son arranged one after the other, a wire (constituting a turn) being preceded and followed by a wire to ground.

The turns 22 2 , 22 4 and 22 6 ground constitute screens which reduce parasitic capacitances between turns. Under these conditions, it has been found that emissions outside the useful band of frequencies are negligible.

In the embodiment of the invention which is shown on the figure 3 , the transmitting device includes, like that shown on the figure 1 a transistor 30, for example of the MOS type, on the control electrode 31 to which rectangular signals are applied. One terminal of this switch transistor 30 is connected to the ground while its other terminal is connected to a connection point 32 between a primary inductance 34 and a secondary inductor 36. The inductances 34 and 36 are constituted by turns in series. The terminal of the inductor 34 which is opposite the terminal 32 of junction to the transistor 30 is connected to the positive terminal (+) 38 of a storage battery whose other terminal is connected to ground.

In addition, across the two inductors 34 and 36 in series, a capacitor 40 is arranged.

As shown on the figure 4a the inductor 34 is made from the wires 42 2 , 42 4 and 42 6 in parallel and the inductor 36 is made from the wires forming series turns 42 1 , 42 3 , 42 5 and 42 7 . As can be seen in the figures, the wires 42 2 , 42 4 and 42 6 are on each side at the same potential, namely one end of the wires is on one side at the positive potential of the battery (reference 38 on the figure 3 ) and on the other hand, these wires are all connected to the same point 32.

In these conditions, we see that the series turns of the assembly 36 are separated from each other by a turn of inductance 34 at a reference potential. It has been found that this arrangement also makes it possible to limit parasitic capacitances and inductances and, in these conditions, allows negligible transmissions outside the useful frequency band.
