Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method according to the preamble of
Deafness affects both ears in many cases, so both should be provided with a hearing aid. This so-called stereophonic or binaural supply of hearing aids is known. In this case, more modern hearing aids between their microphone arrangement, usually with at least two microphones, and their output transducer arrangement, an arrangement with electromechanical transducer, transmission units on which the acoustic signal is processed, which are operable in switchable different transmission modes. Thus, in one mode, the signal processing of the audio signals can be such that a relatively focused reception characteristic with respect to incident audio results, in a second so that a relatively undirected reception characteristic results in a third strongly noisy audio environment is considered, a fourth is particularly suitable for concert hall Applications etc. Switching from one transmission mode to the other takes place at the hearing aid itself, for example by means of a toggle switch, whereby the user often hardly knows which mode of which of his two devices is currently being operated. It has to be taken into account that the differentiation of the individual transmission modes depending on the two hearing aids is very difficult.
In order to solve this problem, it has sometimes been adopted to take into account the control of two hearing aids on remote controls. However, carrying around a remote control and its operation is by no means popular with all users. By remote control, it is possible to synchronize the transmission modes of both hearing aids provided the same as with a single two-button action.
Furthermore, today hearing aids are known which analyze the acoustic environment and automatically switch on optimal transmission modes according to the analysis result for the detected environment. If these devices are used binaurally, an asynchronous mode connection is often performed on the two hearing aids because both devices experience different audio environments, for example due to the acoustic head shadow. This can lead to irritation of the user considering how quickly the acoustic environment and the head position can change.
It is known from WO 99/43185 and US Pat. No. 5,757,932 or
The object of the present invention is, starting from methods or hearing aid pairs of the latter type, to reduce the power consumption through the established communication connection.
This is achieved by carrying out the method mentioned type according to the characterizing part of
Thus, the above-mentioned problems are solved, in particular, no remote control is necessary, and also the transmission mode dialing hearing aids can be used without any problems binaural.
Characterized in that one manually or automatically the respective active transmission modes of the hearing aids via the wireless connection between the hearing aids - preferably a high-frequency connection - Synchronized to a predetermined or predeterminable pairing, it is achieved that this synchronization can be created without remote control, for example by pressing a button on one of the hearing aids or automatically on the hearing aid according to predetermined, yet to be described criteria, or as an additional option, triggered by a remote control.
In a first preferred embodiment, the device synchronization is performed so that both hearing aids, once synchronized, work with the same active transmission modes. This can be done so that a hearing aid as a SLAVE device, the transfer mode of the other, the MASTERS, takes over. Which of the two hearing aids acts as a MASTER can be preset, for example the right ear device, but can also change situationally, for example by declaring certain transmission modes as dominant modes and determining the transmission mode of the other device during synchronization. For example, in the automatic operation of the mode activation, a hearing aid may be switched to a relatively seldom used mode, such as for concert hall applications, while the second hearing aid is operating in a standard mode. Then, during the synchronization, the hearing device with the transmission mode, which is used relatively rarely, is guided through the hearing aid with the currently activated standard mode and takes over the latter.
Furthermore, it is quite possible, in working before synchronization on different modes working hearing aids, by the synchronization aufzuschalten none of the mentioned modes, but on a third, common mode. This in turn may be advantageous if both hearing aids are switched to relatively rarely used transmission modes, such as the one on concert hall transmission, the other on transmission in a noisy environment. After Synchronization, for example, both hearing aids are again activated in standard mode.
In a further embodiment of the method according to the invention, which in some cases can also be combined with the aforementioned one, a changeover of the transmission modes depending on different transmission modes takes place by means of synchronization. This is preferably done on the basis of the existing before the synchronization IST-Modikonstellation that, in synchronization, according to experience, not the same, but is optimized. For example, if the mode constellation prevailing prior to synchronization is characterized by two opposite modes, one for a concert hall environment and a noisy environment, for example, one device may be in the "slightly noisy environment" mode and the other in the default mode by the synchronization From experience, it has been shown that this constellation, after synchronization, is adapted more adequately from the initial configuration mentioned in most cases.
It is also quite possible, in addition or as an alternative, to select the transmission modes activated by the synchronization on the basis of the analysis of the currently prevailing or developing audio environment and, for example, automatically trigger synchronization in a strongly changing audio environment and adapt the transmission modes thereto. For example, it is readily possible for strongly increasing audio level, which is registered primarily on a hearing aid, a transmission mode "higher attenuation" to activate and this on both hearing aids, even if the second - for example, due to the current head shadow - the level increase is not yet registered Has.
The synchronization itself can be triggered manually, be it on one of the hearing aids or via remote control and / or by an analysis result of the current audio environment and / or by certain mode constellations which, according to experience, have at least not been recognized as being optimal over a longer period of time.
To solve the problem posed according to the invention, as mentioned, a pair of hearing aids according to the invention is distinguished by the wording of the characterizing part of

In Fig. 1 ist anhand einer schematischen Darstellung eines erfindungsgemässen Satzes zweier Hörgeräte das Grundprinzip der vorliegenden Erfindung dargestellt.FIG. 1 shows the basic principle of the present invention with reference to a schematic illustration of a set according to the invention of two hearing aids.
The two
In this simple configuration according to FIG. 1, therefore, one of the hearing aids provided, 3a, acts as MASTER and the
As already stated, however, the mode synchronization according to the invention-in a further development-can also take place in such a way that both hearing aids are synchronized to the same transmission mode, which is not equal to one of the modes activated at the moment of synchronization.
Furthermore, it is quite possible to synchronize the hearing aids to different transmission modes when synchronization is carried out, of which one or none corresponds to one of the transmission modes activated at the moment of the synchronization.
- modes activated prior to triggering and for this as the best experienced modes and / or
- the audio environment or its changes,
The synchronization itself can be triggered manually, either directly on one of the two hearing aids or via an intended remote control for the hearing aids, or it can take place automatically, at predetermined intervals and / or when experience shows unfavorable mode constellations on the two hearing aids and / or certain Audio environments or their modification.
Although, due to these explanations, a large number of possible forms of realization of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, illustrated by signal flow / function block diagrams, further implementation forms.
It should be assumed that in most cases the hearing aids are designed identically, and if in the context of the inventive synchronization different tasks are made to the two hearing aids, for example, the mentioned MASTER / SLAVE assignment, the respective functions activated by programming or shut down become.
Mx durch eine Selektionseinheit 20 anwählbar.FIG. 2 shows, with reference to a functional block / signal flow diagram, one of two identically constructed hearing devices of a hearing aid pair according to the invention. As already introduced with reference to FIG. 1, functional blocks are also designated in FIG. 2 with the same position numbers. The
Which of the transmission modes M is currently activated is input manually to the
It is now, for example and as shown, the
By activating or deactivating the signal input S 27 triggering this synchronization process, it can be determined which of the two hearing aids has to act as a MASTER and which as a SLAVE.
On the master hearing aid, the triggering of the synchronization process on S 27 , as mentioned manually or automatically. If, on the basis of an assessment of the current audio environment with the
This MASTER / SLAVE procedure only requires one-way communication between the hearing aids when the MASTER and SLAVE functions are set.
In Fig. 3, starting from the representation of FIG. 2, basically following the MASTER / SLAVE principle, shown how it can be realized that upon successful synchronization is not simply the transfer mode of the MASTER device is taken, but for example, from the instantaneous constellation of both activated transmission modes M Mm , and M Sm an optimal constellation with M ' M , M' S is controlled.
Only those function blocks and signal paths are shown in FIG. 3 which change with respect to the hearing aid according to FIG. 2. To the transmitting / receiving
Gemäss Fig. 3 löst die Konstellation MMm = 4, Msm = 1 eine Synchronisation an S''27 aus, mit dem Resultat M'M = 2 und M'S = 2.As also shown in FIG. 3, synchronization can also be achieved automatically by the occurrence of predetermined constellations of modes be triggered, in addition to or instead of the automatic triggering by audio environment assessment, as described with reference to FIG. 2 or manual triggering. According to FIG. 3, the constellation M Mm = 4, Msm = 1 initiates a synchronization at S '' 27 , with the result M ' M = 2 and M' S = 2.
If both devices have the same configuration, it is entirely possible to specify, based on the constellations M Mm , M Sm , which are stored at both, which device or which mode of the constellation is dominant, and then, momentarily, the MASTER / SLAVE function is automatically constellated , For example, you can specify that
Furthermore, the result of the audio environment evaluation, as described with the
With the inventive approach, it is possible, while consuming only minimal additional electrical energy, for the mode marking transmission in relatively large time intervals, the binaurally used hearing aids to perform each other optimally. The user can at any time break the synchronization created manually, in particular also via the remote control, whereby according to the principles explained according to the invention synchronization can be recreated or recreated, whereby, in the case of automatic restoration, the user can disable this process.
