Abstract
The invention relates to a method for recognizing tampering of a package and its contents. The aim is to detect the opening of an original package and detect an exchange of contents or a composition deviating from the original composition. This is achieved by a non-destructive examining method which is characterized in that individual articles are provided with characteristic, externally detectable markings. Said markings are detected as random individual characteristics, coded and applied to said package. A comparison of said coded signals and an externally detectable actual signal pattern of said article contained in the package is subsequently made.
Description
Verfahren zum Herstellen von Packungen durch Umhüllen eines Verpackungsgutes Process for the production of packs by wrapping a packaged product
The invention relates to a method for producing packs by wrapping a packaging material consisting of one or more individual articles, in particular a cigarette block formed from a plurality of cigarettes, with a wrapping material.
In the production of such packs, the aspect relating to a controlled assignment of the packaging goods and packaging material of each pack produced is becoming increasingly important in order to ensure product quality guaranteed by the manufacturer.
The object on which the invention is based is therefore to identify the association of packaging and content and to provide the possibility of checking this association.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a clear characteristic feature is detected in the packaged goods and one or more corresponding signals are formed, in that the signal or the signals are coded and characters corresponding to the coded signals are attached to the packaging material. In the sense of the invention, it is conceivable to record and evaluate certain features specific to the articles. A preferred development of the concept of the invention, however, is that the articles of the packaged goods are provided with a clear characteristic feature during their manufacture. In the course of the final packaging of such packs, it is further proposed that the clear characteristic features of the articles of the packaged goods put together to form a pack content and their relative relationship to one another are recorded as a characteristic feature profile, that a profile signal corresponding to the characteristic feature profile is formed, that the profile signal coded and characters corresponding to the profile signal are attached to the packaging material.
In adaptation to the respective procedural requirements, it is further proposed that the articles of the packaged goods are provided with a unique characteristic that can be measured through the packaging during or after their manufacture.
In order to be able to subject a product prepared in the manner mentioned above to a method for checking the integrity of a pack containing at least one article, in particular a pack containing a defined grouping of articles, of the tobacco processing industry, according to a further development of the inventive concept, the articles are subjected to a Assigned a characteristic feature that is identifiable outside of the pack, a coding being generated from this feature or from the entirety of the features and the result of the coding being applied to the packaging.
Da während des Herstellungsprozesses derartigeIt would be conceivable to use natural or originally existing distinguishing features of the individual objects or cigarettes in the sense of the invention. Another possibility would be to apply such distinctive features retrospectively or additionally. Because such during the manufacturing process
Articles with distinguishing features usually do not go through the manufacturing or packaging process in a predictable sequence According to a preferred development, the objects are assigned a random feature or a random feature pattern. These random characteristics are expediently recorded before the package is closed. Depending on the circumstances, alternative options that are still proposed may be preferred from case to case, in that the coding is generated either from a feature pattern formed from feature properties or from feature locations. In order to enable a safe, inconspicuous or non-destructive test procedure in accordance with a preferred development, provision is made for the identification applied to the pack to be read and compared with the feature pattern of the objects detected through the pack. With this procedure, according to further suggestions, either position-defined individual signals are detected from the feature pattern or a sum signal is formed from the feature pattern. In the sense and within the scope of the invention, a secure integrity check of the packs is possible in a variety of ways in that, according to the proposal, the feature pattern is composed of features that can be detected by high frequency, microwave or X-ray radiation. Furthermore, the proposed test method allows, according to the proposal, different labeling options for the objects, in that the feature pattern is formed by attaching or omitting features inside or on the inner or outer surfaces of the objects or their components.
The present invention also encompasses a system for monitoring the integrity of packages and their contents consisting of one or more articles, which is used to prepare these articles during their manufacture. process and for checking the identity of the finished packs that are commercially available with regard to matching features of the pack print and content. Means for detecting clear characteristic features of the articles put together for a pack content and for generating corresponding signals, means for coding the signals, means for Applying characters corresponding to the coded signals to the package, means for reading and decoding the characters attached to the package and for generating signals corresponding to the unique characteristic features of the articles, and means for comparing these signals with the unique characteristic features of the Pack included items are provided.
Eine derartige Präparierung kann gemäß weiterenThe functionality and safety of the test results of the proposed monitoring system can be optimized by means of further proposed measures by additionally introducing a material particle with different properties from the other material of the article. Such preparation can according to other
Proposals consist, for example, that a metal particle is introduced into non-metallic articles or that the covering of non-metallic articles is provided with a metallic print. In any case, clearly recognizable, distinctive signals are obtained in this way.
The invention also encompasses products in the form of appropriately prepared cigarettes which, according to the proposal, have a clear characteristic feature that can be measured. According to a further proposal, such a cigarette preferably contains, as a unique characteristic feature, a piece of metal which, for example, according to a preferred arrangement, is integrated in the filter of a filter cigarette in a random position. The advantage achieved by the invention is that, due to the changing random properties and groupings of characteristic features that can be detected from the outside, ie without opening the package, an inconspicuous inspection, which reveals an improper combination of any packaging and content components, and thus damages the reputation of the product name Actions are made considerably more difficult.
The invention is explained below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing.

According to the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, filter cigarettes 1 have been provided with unambiguous characteristic features in the form of a magnetically detectable metallic overlay or a metal-containing imprint 2 during the manufacturing process or thereafter. The marking features applied in this way in the filter area 3, for example on the inside or outside of the filter wrapping paper or of the covering paper connecting the cigarettes and filters, assume a random, arbitrary position in the block formation 6 of the filter cigarettes introduced into the pack 4, for example according to FIG each individual pack is recognized from the outside as a characteristic individual feature pattern by a detector device 7 that detects the long side of the block formation.
According to FIG. 2, a corresponding feature pattern can also be recognized by a magnetic detector device 8 that detects the end face of the package 4 or the block formation 6 on the end face from the outside.
In both cases, a signal is obtained from the respectively recognized feature pattern, which is encoded with a code and applied to the package 4 in a visible or advantageously invisible manner. Such a signature is either immediately destroyed if the package is opened improperly and indicates a corresponding unauthorized manipulation of the package and its contents or deviations when comparing the detected, coded printed information with the actual, externally detected characteristic pattern of the filter cigarettes within the package reveals abusive interventions. In addition to these metallic or metal-containing layers or embeddings in the filter material, other markings can be set or test media that respond to other marking substances can be used. FIG. 3 shows a filter manufacturing machine described in more detail, for example, in our US Pat. No. 4,412,505, consisting of a first assembly in the form of a processing device 11 for processing a filter tow strip 13 pulled from a bale 12 by stretching, loosening and spraying using a plasticizer in a spraying device 14 and a second assembly in the form of a processing device 16 for the production of coated filter rods by gathering the filter tow strip 13 in an inlet funnel 17, covering the filter strand obtained with a supplied covering strip 18 in a format 19 and separation into individual filter rods 3. In the to provide a detectable characteristic feature of a filter area or filter section 3 of the filter tow strips 13 which form ready-made filter cigarettes 1, the filter tow strip 13 is subtracted from a reel 21 between the assembly 11 and the assembly 16, b for example, metallic or color-contrasting marking strips 2, which can be recognized as an embedded foreign body with a corresponding detector on the long side or front of the filter cigarettes 1. The filter cigarettes 1 prepared in this way assume a random position with respect to the stored markings 2 during their packaging process in a packaging machine and thus have an overall position within a transport chamber 22 of the packaging machine according to FIG. 4, which contains a cigarette block and is disclosed, for example, in US Pat a random feature pattern.
This characteristic feature pattern, which is unique for each cigarette block 6 or for each cigarette pack 4, is detected, for example, on the front side of the transport chamber 22 by means of a detector device 7.
As a detector device 7, for example, a commercially available matrix camera that can be activated in a holding phase or dwell phase of the transport chamber 22, which is cyclically moved by means of a chamber belt 23, or as in the present embodiment 5 example, a CCD line camera 26 which scans the end face of the cigarette block 6 located in the passing transport chamber 22 and is provided with a lens 24, for example the JR2048 series from Schäfter & Krichhoff, Hamburg, Germany.
By gradually scanning the filter ends in a package 4 or a transport chamber 22 by means of the line camera 26 using a clock generator 27 to generate a high-frequency synchronous clock, an image is scanned in an image processing unit 28, from which the processing unit 28 determines the position of the filter ends and corresponding evaluation windows sets. As an example, according to FIG. 4, each evaluation window is subdivided into four quadrants 1 to 4 in a clockwise direction, whereby the subdivision can of course be refined as desired. From this, the processing unit 28 can assign the marking 2 recognized at each filter end to a specific quadrant, so that for each article position within the transport chamber 22 according to FIG. 4, for example by adding the relevant quadrants 1, 3, 2, 4, 2, 3 for the the upper layer as a code, the number 15, for the middle layer by adding the quadrants 1, 2, 1, 3, 4, 2, 1 the number 14 and for the lower layer by adding the quadrants 4, 3, 4, 2, 3 , 2 the number 18 can be won. From this, the processing unit 28 can obtain an encoded identification representing the specific feature pattern, for example, by forming the sum signal 47 by adding the position numbers 15, 14 and 18. This coded marking is output to a marking device in the form of a stamping mechanism 29 which, depending on the specific packaging materials to be marked, for example an ink jet printer or a marking laser of conventional design, such as from IWK Verpackungstechnik GmbH, DE or from Domino Laser Inc. can be. When using the detector device 7 as a reading device, only the image processing unit 28 is replaced by a reprogrammed processing unit decoding and comparing the detected identification features, and the stamp mechanism 29 is replaced by a simple display, the clock generator 27 being omitted.
