Abstract

A method for assembling a fuel injection IC engine has each cylinder fitted with an injector fed by an individual fuel pump. The pump, injector and connecting pipe are pre-assembled and fitted as a module, after leak checking. The fuel pump (12) is fitted with a cam follower (14) and is secured into a recess (58) in the engine block by a fastener (68). The injector (18) is secured into a recess (56) in the cylinder block by a second fastener (62). The recesses have parallel bores for a simple assembly process.
