Abstract

The iron has a plastic housing as its upper unit (6) and a sole plate with heating as its lower unit (2) with a metal heat protection shield (3) between the units that screens heat radiation from the lower unit with respect to the upper unit. The shield has a first attachment arrangement via which the lower unit can be attached to the shield and a second attachment arrangement via which the upper unit can be attached to the shield.
