Abstract
Mechanism for tilting a stool seat (2), including a spring loaded peg (3) which is arranged to be placed between the lower surface of the seat (2) and the top surface of a horizontal plate (7) placed on the top of the stool column (1) when the seat (2) is tilted, and on the bottom surface of the plate (7) when the seat (2) is arranged in a horizontal position.
Description
Tilting mechanism
5 The present invention is related to a tilting mechanism, especially for a stool.
In many connections it would be advantages for a user to be able to tilt a seat forward and sloping down to reach a favourable seating position, especially in connection with a desk, in front of a computer etc. It is further desirable to be able to
10 tilt a stool or a footrest to achieve a desired sloping position for the legs when the user is reclined in an easy chair, by adjusting the stool.
With the tilting mechanism according to the present invention the user can, by means of a handle, free the stool seat and by pressing down on the front edge of the seat, place the seat in a sloping position whereupon the tilting mechanism locks i5 the stool seat in this. Position.
This is achieved with the tilting mechanism according to the present invention as described by a feature set forth in the claims.
On the drawing, figure 1 shows a stool with a tiltable seat in horizontal position, figure 2 shows a stool in figure 1 in tilted position, figure 3 shows a tilting 2o mechanism in detail, with the seat locked in the position shown in figure 1, and figure 4 shows the tilting mechanism in the locked position with the seat tilted.
The stool includes column on which is mounted the tilting mechanism according to the invention. On the tilting mechanism is mounted a seat 2. The tilting mechanism includes a plate 7 mounted on the column 1, a tilting plate 4 on which the 25 seat 2 is fastened, and a bend 8 on which is mounted a peg 3 which is biased by a spring 5. The peg 3 can be pulled up to the right on the figure by use of the handle 6, so that the peg 3 passes the plate 7 when the seat is tilted up or down.
With the seat 2 in horizontal position, the tap 3 will rest on the underside of the plate 7 and lock the seat in this position. With the seat 2 tilted as shown in 3o figure 2, the peg 3 will rest on the top surface of the plate 7, and thereby lock the seat in the tilted position.
Claims
1. Mechanism for tilting a stool seat (2), characterized in that it includes a spring loaded peg (3) which is adapted to be placed between the bottom surface of the stool seat (2) and the top surface of a horizontal plate (7) aπ-anged on the top surface of the stool column (1) with the seat (2) tilted, and on the bottom surface of the plate (7) with the seat (2) arranged in the horizontal position.
2. Mechanism according to claim 1, characterized in that the peg (3) includes a handle (6) with which the user can pull the peg (3) against the action of the spring (5) outside of the plate (7) to bring the seat (2) into another position.
