Abstract

A container for perfume or other beauty product comprises a perfume-containing body having an aperture provided with a closure member such as a screw stopper or an atomizing dispenser, said body cooperating with a closure element to be superposed on said member to cooperate with that body part in proximity to this latter. The body comprises on a plurality of its sides an element in impact resistant material to protect said body against accidental impact which could damage or crack it.

Description

• This invention relates to a container for perfume or other beauty product in liquid or paste form.
• Such a container is generally constructed of glass or other fragile or scratchable material. Consequently during its filling with the product (in which several containers are conveyed in succession through the filling station), or during its packaging, transport or use, such a container can break, crack or suffer surface abrasion, with the result that it becomes difficult or impossible to sell.
• An object of the invention is to provide a perfume container which is resistant to impact to the extent of not undergoing damage during its packaging, transport, product filling or use.
• A further object is to provide a container of the stated type which is easy to produce, fill and package.
• These and further objects which will be apparent to an expert of the art are attained by a container in accordance with the accompanying claims.
• The invention will be more apparent from the accompanying drawing, which is provided by way of non-limiting example and on which:
• Figure 1 is a perspective view of a container according to the invention;
• Figure 2 is a side view of the container of Figure 1;
• Figure 3 is a front view of the container of Figure 1 without its cap; and
• Figure 4 is a perspective view of a variant of the container of Figure 1.
• With reference to said figures, a container for perfume or other liquid or pasty product is indicated overall by 1 and comprises a body 2 formed of fragile or scratchable material (for example glass or rigid plastic). This body comprises a front side 3, a rear side 4, two lateral faces 5, a bottom side 6 and a top side 7 containing an aperture provided with a closure member 8, for example a screw stopper or an atomizing dispenser. A closure cap 9 is snap-fitted onto the top side 7 of the body 1.
• According to the invention, a raised edge 10 (or band) of impact resistant material is provided on at least two sides of the body 1. These sides are at least the lateral faces 5. A corresponding edge 10 is also preferably present on the bottom side 6. A single continuous edge 10 could surround said sides 5 and 6 as an alternative to the three separate edges 10.
• The edge 10 present on each side is preferably of rubber and projects from the corresponding side preferably by a distance (being the thickness of the edge) of between 2 and 10 mm.
• The edge 10 present on the lateral faces 5 preferably blends into an element of impact resistant material 12 present on the top side 7.
• By virtue of the invention, the container 1 is protected against impacts with its sides 5 and 6 deriving from contact with other adjacent containers during their filling. Each edge 10 also protects the container 1 against impacts deriving from packaging operations and transport after filling. The edge also protects the container 1 during its use.
• A preferred embodiment of the invention has been described.
• Others are however possible. In one of these, the container (see Figure 1) also has an edge 15 on the front side 3 and rear side 4. This edge can have a width L which varies on the basis of the width of the surface of the side 3 or 4 (just as each edge 10 can have a width proportional to the width of the surface on which it is present).
• In another variant (see Figure 4), an edge 16 is also present on the cap 9 as an extension of the edges 10.
• Each edge can be over-moulded or co-moulded onto the body 1 or can be associated therewith by hot deformation.

Claims (9)

1. A container for perfume or other beauty product in liquid or paste form, comprising a body (2) containing said product, said body (2) having front, rear, side, bottom and top faces (3, 4, 5, 6, 7), said body (2) containing an aperture provided with a closure member (8) such as a screw stopper or an atomizing dispenser, a closure element (9) being provided to be superposed on said member (8) to cooperate with that body part (7) in proximity to this latter, said container being characterised by comprising at least one impact resistant element (10, 15, 16) on at least one part (5, 6) of its body and projecting from this latter, said element (10, 15, 16) being arranged to protect said body against accidental impact.
2. A container as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the impact resistant element is a raised edge or band (10) present on at least two opposing lateral faces (5) of its body (2).
3. A container as claimed in claim 2, characterised in that the raised edge or band (10) is also present on the bottom face (6) of its body (2).
4. A container as claimed in claim 3, characterised in that the raised edge or band (10) is continuous along the lateral faces (5) and bottom face (6) of its body (2).
5. A container as claimed in claim 1, characterised by comprising a covering of impact resistant material (12) on the top face (7) of its body (2).
6. A container as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that each raised edge (10) present on the opposing lateral faces (5) blends into the covering (12) on the top face (7) of the body (2).
7. A container as claimed in claim 1, characterised by comprising on its front and rear faces (3, 4) a raised element (15) of impact resistant material.
8. A container as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the impact resistant element (10, 15, 16) is of natural or synthetic rubber.
9. A container as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the impact resistant element (16) is present on the closure element (9).
