Claims

- Prior art portion is a lamp with light effect on water, characterized by a source of light and a rough fluid element, independently from its design, shape, colour or material; - Lamp with light effect on water as claimed at point 1, characterized by a source of light where this indication means light produced by all type of bulb and electricity power; - Lamp with light effect on water as claimed at points 1,2, characterized by a presence of a fluid element where this indication means any element being transparent to light rays, either liquid or gas of any colour; - Lamp with light effect on water as claimed at points 1,2,3 characterized by the movement of the fluid element transmitted from inside or outside the fluid element itself.
AMENDED CLAIMS
[received by the International Bureau on 29 September 2000 (29.09.00); original claims 1-4 replaced by amended claims 1-3 (2 pages)]
5 1- Prior art portion is a lamp, independently from its design, shape, colour or material, which gives out a particular light effect in the surrounding area, producing an effect similar to a natural phenomenon, typical of light reflection 10 on the surface of a rough fluid element. In this invention the light effect is given by a fluid element and by the rippling of its top surface so to transform and to project the lamp light rays in the surrounding area. 15 2- Lamp with light effect as claimed at point 1, comprising at least: a) a source of light where this indication means light produced by all types of bulb and electricity power; 20 b) a container with transparent surfaces in order to allow the passage of light coming out from the source of light (rays of light going inside and outside) ; this container can also be not-at-sight and placed inside the lamp; 25 c) a fluid element inside the container where this indication means any element being transparent to light rays, either liquid or gas of any colour; d) a micro-pump moving the fluid element shall 30 create on the top surface of the fluid element waves that, accordingly to their height, length and intensity, will project and vary the light effect. For this reason it is necessary to leave a certain empty space between the surface of the 35 fluid element and the top surface of the container. The quantity of fluid element is in relation with the wave height we want to obtain. Lamp with light effect as claimed at points 1,2 so to create a visual emotion given by the transformation of the lamp light rays reflected in the surrounding area by the rippling surface of the fluid element. This lamp can be used in interior and exterior lighting: floor lamp, table lamp, wall lamp, ceiling lamp, suspension lamp.
Statement under Article 19(1)
My amended claims have no impact on the description and the drawings . In my invention PCT/IT/00166 :
Claim 1 underlines the basic concept: a lamp which gives out a particular light effect in the surrounding area, producing an effect similar to a natural phenomenon typical of light reflection on the top surface of a rough fluid element.
Claim 2 explains how to obtain the reflection effect of the lamp light rays .
Claim 3 shows the multiple uses of this lamp in interior and exterior lighting. What I claim is different from what is described in claims :
1-7 of Patent number 5,678,918

1) the light illuminates only the cloud-like currents created inside the liquid; 2) the visual effect claimed is only due to the observation cloud-like currents and therefore the liquid must be visible, contrarily to my claim 1-3.
3) Since the top surface of the container is closed, the light given out cannot hit the top surface of the liquid and so cannot be reflected in the surrounding area, contrarily to my claim 2; anyway
4) the light would not have the reflections I claim since it is not transformed, because: 00/68612 8
5) the liquid fills up completely the container and the rotatory motion of the blades cannot create waves .
In Patent number 5,272,604 the claims 1-8 describe a decorative lamp where:
1) the visual effect claimed is due to the observation of the ornaments or the light-reflecting ball floating inside the cyclone, therefore the liquid must be visible;
2) the light only illuminates the floating ornaments or the light-reflecting ball inside the liquid; contrarily to my claims 1-3.
3) Since the top surface of the container is closed, the light cannot be reflected in the surrounding area, contrarily to my claim 2; anyway
4) the light would not have the reflections I claim since it is not transformed, because:
5) the liquid fills up completely the container and the cyclonic movement cannot create waves on the surface, contrarily to my claims 1-3.
In Patent number 2,083,174 the claims 1-4 describe a lamp where: 1) the visual effect claimed is only due to the observation of the air bubbles produced and the light illuminates and colours the air bubbles, contrarily to my claims 1-3;
2) the liquid and its air bubbles must be visible, contrarily to my claim 2; anyway
3) the light would not have the reflections I claim since it is not transformed, because: 4) the air bubbles produced in the lower part of the lamp do not create waves on the surface, contrarily to my claims 1-3.
In Patent number: 3,748,457 the claims 1-2 describe a lamp: which has no fluid element inside and which works only if let floating in a swimming-pool, contrarily to my claims 1-3.
