Appliance according to the introductory part of claim 1, characterised in that the actuating device (984, 986) comprises a movement sensor (986) which is arranged in the appliance housing (904) and which brings the switch (982) into its switched-on setting in the case of movements of the appliance housing (904) and brings it into its switched-off setting in the case of absent movement.
  3. Appliance according to claim 2, characterised in that the actuating device (984, 986) comprises a time switch which keeps the switch (982) switched on for a time after each signal which comes from the movement sensor (986) and which is caused by a movement of the appliance housing (904).
  4. Appliance according to claim 1, characterised in that the sensor (22, 24; 522; 622; 722) is arranged at the appliance housing (4; 504; 604; 704) in the region of a support point by which the appliance housing rests on a flat support surface when deposited thereon.
  5. Appliance according to claim 1 or 4, characterised in that the appliance housing (4) comprises a fan tube (6) with rearward suction openings (10) and forward blow openings and a handle (8) therebetween and projecting downwardly therefrom and the sensor (22, 24) is arranged laterally at the appliance housing (4), preferably laterally at the fan tube (6).
  6. Appliance according to one of claims 1, 4 and 5, characterised by two sensors (22, 24), which are arranged at mutually opposite sides of the appliance housing (4), of two switches (26, 28) electrically connected in series.
  7. Appliance according to one of claims 1 and 4 to 6, characterised in that the sensor (22, 24; 522; 622) comprises a mechanical detector (22, 24; 522; 622) which can be brought into a switch-off setting by the weight of the appliance and against a biasing device (34).
  8. Appliance according to one of claims 1 and 4 to 6, characterised in that the sensor is an optical sensor, for example a reflection sensor (722).
  9. Appliance according to one of claims 1 and 4 to 8, characterised in that an outwardly projecting anti-slip element (16, 18; 516; 616; 716) with a material of high surface friction is arranged at a support point of the appliance housing (4; 504; 604; 704) and the sensor (22, 24; 522; 622; 722) is combined with the anti-slip element.
  10. Appliance according to one of claims 7 and 9, characterised in that the anti-slip element (516) is arranged at the mechanical detector (522) and is displaceable together with this relative to the appliance housing (504).
  11. Appliance according to one of claims 1 and 4 to 9, characterised by an outwardly projecting cap (616), which is fastened to the appliance housing (604), of a resilient material, preferably of high surface friction, which covers the sensor (622).
  12. Appliance according to one of claims 1 and 4 to 11, characterised in that the switch is a mechanical or electrical breaker switch (26, 28) which is biased in switched-on direction and which returns to its switched-on setting when the appliance housing (4) is lifted off the support.
  13. Appliance according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that a manually operable on/off switch (44; 944) is arranged at the appliance housing (4; 904) and is electrically connected in series with the switch (26, 28; 982) controlled by the sensor (22, 24; 986).
