Abstract
The present invention relates to artificial eyelashes in which the adhesive part (2) of artificial hair (1) is attached onto side (a) of an adhesive sheet (3) ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 mm and an adhesive layer, which affixes the artificial lashes to the eyelid, is on the back side of the sheet. Since the width of the adhesive sheet on the artificial eyelashes of the present invention is so narrow, the artificial eyelashes can be attached to the lower part of eyelid, just above the upper part of the eyelashes, freely contouring to the shape of the eyelid without any difficulty. Due to the stated advantages, the inconveniences and side effects of wearing artificial eyelashes could be minimized.
Description
ARTIFICIAL EYELASHES
Technical Field
This present invention relates to artificial eyelashes, more specifically, which have the advantage of being easy to use and wearing comfort while wearing.
Background Art:
The prior art is to attach artificial eyelashes to the human skin with liquid adhesive.
In general, products which have several artificial eyelashes and one adhesive in one kit, have been sold on the market, users should apply adhesive to backing whenever they want to wear artificial eyelashes. Therefore, after applying adhesive, users should wait until it becomes tacky to stick well, so not only is it time consuming but in case of too much adhesive, it sometimes causes irritation of the eyes. Furthermore, once opened, it is troublesome to prevent the adhesive from drying out.
To solve these problems, some other prior arts are introduced such as U.S. Pat. No. 3,880,175 and Japanese Utility Model No. Sho. 48-103288 which relate to the attachment of same side of film to the eyelid after artificial hair adhered to one adhesive side of a film. (Refer to Fig.l.) By these prior arts, the problem with the liquid adhesive is solved, but the following problems occurred
and resulted in commercial failure.
Firstly, since the artificial hair and the backing are on the same side, it needs a thick adhesive film ranging from 3 to 7 mm. When it is applied to human skin, this thick film juts out beyond the eyelids, sensitive users can be harmed. Users feel some discomfort due to air blocking and are unable to apply eye makeup. Users sensitive to the adhesive may experience reddening of the eyelid.
Secondly, for Westerners having relatively large double eyelids, when they are wearing artificial eyelashes made by the prior arts, the adhesive film is located on the wrinkled part, and it is more uncomfortable for them.
Thirdly, artificial eyelashes wearers generally prefer their lashes to sweep upward, however, wearing the artificial eyelashes of the prior arts had the problem in which the lashes easily drooped down. Wearers have to frequently readjust their artificial eyelashes with their hands or with an eyelash tool specifically due to the fact that the placement of the hairs between the backing and the eyelid pushed the hairs downward.
Fourthly, despite its relatively expensive price, it has the problem of not being reusable due to the decreased adhesive strength once used.
Lastly, it is desirable for artificial eyelashes to contour to the shape of the eyelid due to the thickness of the backing of the prior arts such contouring proved to be very difficult and therefore make wearing very inconvenient.
Disclosure of the Invention
The purpose of this present invention is to solve the above problems and to provide artificial eyelashes which have the advantage of being easy to use and excellent to wear.
Another purpose of this invention is to provide the artificial eyelashes which have greatly reduced side effects such as skin irritation and do not interfere with the application of eye makeup. Another purpose of this invention is to provide Westerners having large double eyelids with comfortable artificial eyelashes. Another purpose of this invention is to provide artificial eyelashes which do not droop. Another purpose of this invention is to provide artificial eyelashes which are reusable. Another purpose of this invention is to provide artificial eyelashes which can easily contour to the shape of the wearer's eye.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
The present invention is artificial eyelashes which comprised of artificial hairs attached to the adhesive part for the hairs and an adhesive sheet, 0.5 to 2mm in width, to attach to the human skin. The description of the invention will be evident from the following detailed description when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings which illustrate the invention.
Fig. 2 is a front view of the artificial eyelashes depicting the adhesive sheet (3) attached to the adhesive part (2) of the artificial hai s (1) . Fig. 3 is a side view of the artificial eyelashes showing that the adhesivepart (2 ) of the artificial hairs (1) is affixed to the upper layer (a) of the adhesive sheet (3) and the lower layer (b) is the layer to adhere to the human skin. This lower layer (b) will be affixed to the product container or affixed to a back paper for delivery to users.
The proper width of the adhesive sheet (3) ranges from 0.5 to 2mm, more preferably, from 1.0 to 1.5 mm. If smaller than the above proper width, adhesive strength decreases and if larger than the above proper width, wearing comfort
decreases. The adhesive sheet is made of synthetic resins with an adhesive layer such as polyester film and, more preferably, a freely changeable nonwoven fabric or similar materials with an adhesive layer for better of wearing comfort. Since the shape of adhesive sheet is half-arc such as a natural eyelash, so wearing comfort will be better. The thickness of the adhesive sheet must be at least is 0.1mm, more preferably, less than 0.05mm. The projecting length of the adhesive sheet affixed to the adhesive part (2) of the artificial hair should be within 1mm and, most preferably, 0 mm. In case of 0 mm for extra projecting length, the end of the adhesive part (2) of the artificial hair can be abutted well with the end of the adhesive sheet, there is no interference to the application of eye makeup since the adhesive sheet is not projecting.
To improve the cosmetic effect, reflective materials or coloring can be applied to the artificial hair(l) , the extra part of adhesive sheet (c) or the lower part (d) of the adhesive sheet. In general, users prefer colored eyelashes or eyelashes made with reflectivematerials . In this present invention, applying reflective materials and coloring are easy but in prior arts, they are impossible without extra supporting materials.
Industrial Applicability
The adhesive sheet of artificial eyelashes of the
present invention is very narrow. They can be easily attached between the lower part of double eyelid and the upper part of natural eyelash and will smoothly contour to the shape of natural eyelash. Therefore, inconvenience and side effects in wearing them can be minimized.
The artificial eyelashes of the present invention are reusable by simply replacing the adhesive sheet after use. In addition, well-aligned adhesive sheet without projecting out can solve the disadvantage of conventional artificial eyelashes in which the projecting film of synthetic resin has induced a twinkling phenomenon and an interference with the application of eye makeup.
