Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for regulating the cooling water flow rate through mold broadsides from the start of casting to reaching a target casting speed.
Between the cooling water flow rate required for heat dissipation from plates of a mold and the resulting heat flow density there is a direct connection.
In particular affects the cooling water speed and thus the heat transport from the plates the temperature of the melt pool facing Plate surfaces, of which in turn the formation of a sufficiently effective Lubricating film from a lubricant powder to be melted between Mold plate and strand shell depends.
Other influencing factors here are the plate thickness, the casting speed and the temperature of the melt in the tundish above the superheating temperature T liquidus. The level of the heat flow densities also influences the tendency to form defects in the strand shell, for example longitudinal cracks the strand shell surface, as described in the publication MPT International 3/1997, Vol. 20, page 64/76 (Verlag Stahleisen Düsseldorf).
To support the rapid build-up of a casting powder lubrication film, exothermic casting powders are often used, which form a sufficient liquid phase in a short time to ensure a lubrication film for the start of casting. During the subsequent transition from exothermic casting powders to granulated casting powders, however, a steep increase in the heat flow density q [MW / m 2 ] of the mold cycles is observed, which is due to an excessively thin casting powder lubricating film in the meniscus area of the mold.
bekannt. In this context, it is known that the heat flow density q differs depending on the steel analysis and the casting powder used. Basic casting powder, base grade B> 1, is used in particular for crack-sensitive HSLA medium carbon steels, which reduce the heat transfer through the casting powder slag via a porous-crystalline partial layer on the copper side. This limits the material-specific heat flow density q of crack-sensitive steels.
The calculation of the base degree of casting powder is well known from the literature.
Experiments with different amounts of cooling water have shown that the amount of cooling water and, in connection therewith, the cooling water flow rate V mold have a significant influence on the tendency to form longitudinal cracks in the starting slab. For example, above the recognized "critical heat flow density - q crit" and in particular as a function of the casting speed, local damage to the strand shell growth due to an excessively thin lubricating film or a locally interrupted casting powder lubricating film in the meniscus area can lead to longitudinal depressions, which subsequently tear into longitudinal cracks if the material-specific high-temperature toughness limit is exceeded can.
überwachen(EP-A -0 881 018).Via the heat flow densities of the mold broadside circuits displayed online the time of transition to the critical heat flux density determine or monitor (EP-A-0 881 018).
Through a time-dependent integrative control of the mold water flow rate depending on the measured heat flow densities the heat transfer coefficient α (alpha) is reduced through the mold wall, resulting in a short-term rise in temperature at the contact surface of the copper plate wall steel side.
Systems are known in which by means of embedded in the mold wall Thermocouples the temperature change and temperature distribution over the Casting time observed and breakthrough protection via formation of difference values is built up.
From document DE 41 17 073 C2 it is known using a calorimetric Measurement on a slab mold the integral and specific heat transfer to be determined on each individual copper plate. A comparison of the specific ones Heat flows from the copper plate side facing the steel, especially of the narrow sides with those of the two broad sides enables the regulation of the Narrow-side taper regardless of the individually selected casting parameters. The known device is not suitable for reliable early detection an acute risk of breakthrough.
From DE 24 15 224 C3 a plate mold for slabs is known, the mold walls Have cooling chambers that include limited cooling areas. To the Water supply and drain lines on the broad sides are measuring elements for determination the amount of heat dissipated or the cooling capacity connected. Farther is an average sword of the cooling capacity of the Cooling chamber formed, which is fed to an average former, with which the conicity of the narrow sides can be controlled. A breakthrough early detection with satisfactory accuracy is based solely on the measurement the heat flows in the mold are not possible.
From a number of documents, for example DE-OS 15 08 966, DAS 23 19 323, DE-PS 23 20 277, DE-PS 24 40 273 and DE 34 23 475 C2 it is known the strand shell thickness via measurements of the mold wall temperature or that from the mold control the amount of heat dissipated.
All these known methods have in common that the mold or the entire System controlled according to measured values in comparison to specified target values is, but it is open to what extent the specified target values take account of actual circumstances or requirements.
From DE 197 14 217 A1 it is known that in a process for continuous metal casting, especially for the production of thin steel slabs in the Slag formation is poured onto the bath level of the mold a casting powder flawless production with significantly less risk of longitudinal cracks is when the mold powder is so energized before giving up will that additional energy in the range of free bath surface becomes effective. A suitable mold powder settles CaSi and a metal oxide and / or air serving as oxygen supplier together.
Finally, EP 0 238 844 A1 discloses a method for casting on Stahlbandgießanlage. The steel strip caster is equipped with a chilled mold Narrow side walls and broad side walls equipped. The mold points to Recording of a pouring tube above a format-determining parallel section in the area of the broad side walls, a pouring area extended upwards on. This results in a short casting time without the tape getting stuck achieved that the height of the casting mirror is traced that the Strip deduction between the filling of the format-determining parallel section of the Mold and covering the pouring tube outlet openings is started and up to Reaching the target mold level increased to a minimum take-off speed in which the bottom of the pouring sump is below the format-determining Parallel section remains.
Starting from the aforementioned prior art, the object of the invention based on a mold cooling water regulation of the mold broadsides during the To specify casting starts with which an effective reduction of longitudinal crack infestation the starting slab is reached at a controlled pouring start, and which becomes Execution as part of an automatic sprue program without problems suitable.
The object is achieved in a method of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 with the invention in that the cooling water flow rate is adapted from an initially predetermined speed in accordance with a change in the heat flow density, such that when the heat flow density rises above the critical heat flow density "(q crit) the cooling water flow rate V mold , which can vary depending on the steel quality, is first reduced until the heat flow density q settles as a result of a restart of the cooling water flow rate at a desired heat flow density. The process can be of great advantage According to the invention, the critical heat flow density known from the literature (q crit) can be avoided.
The method according to the invention for regulating the flow rate V mold of the mold cooling water takes into account the determination of the critical heat flow density q crit as a function of the steel quality and the casting powder used.
One embodiment of the method provides that the flow rate of the cooling water (V mold ) through the mold is integrally reduced until the increase in the heat flow density below the "critical heat flow density increase (q crit) of 0.02 to 0.1 [MW / m 2 sec], preferably below a value of 0.05 MW / m 2 sec].
It is also proposed according to the invention that at the same time as the flattening the increase in heat flow density dq is the flow rate of the cooling water depending on the plate thickness of the mold broadside to the target flow rate is raised.
The method according to the invention is further supported in that to support the rapid build-up of a casting powder lubrication film at the start of the sprue preferably exothermic casting powder can be used.
And furthermore is corresponding in connection with the method according to the invention Another influencing variable that helps regulate the mold water cycles is set according to the thickness of the copper plates.
Use can be made of the measure known per se that the flow rate of the cooling water additionally in accordance with the Casting speed is set.
In particular, the aforementioned influencing factors for taking into account a Starting program of importance when using the procedure at the start of casting an automatic sprue program.
The inventive method also leads to reproducible, safe Results if it is based on an overheating temperature in the Tundish between T Liquidus + 25 and + 40 ° C before starting the sprue becomes.
And finally, in the method according to the invention, use can be made of the measure that the cooling water flow rate (V mold ) is additionally corrected taking into account a visual check of the surface quality of the cast strand. Such an observation can be carried out without problems using an electronic camera with image transmission to the main control stage of the continuous caster.
In the following the invention is based on diagrams (Figures 1 to 3) of the course the heat flow density as well as the casting speed and the flow rate of the cooling medium during the automatic casting process with constant Mold flow rate and in comparison with integrative change the mold flow rate during the start of casting according to the invention shown.
In Figur 1 bedeutet Ziff. In Figure 1, no. 1 the start of casting, number 2 the linearly increasing casting speed [m / min] during the start of casting. In FIG. 3 the cooling water flow rate [m / sec] and no. 4 the heat flow density q = [MW / m 2 ]. 2 shows the steep increase in the heat flow density dq = [MW / m 2 sec] with a pronounced maximum and subsequent damping of the curve (4) as a function of the casting speed increasing at the start of casting. Figure 3 shows the result of the invention: If the heat flow densities q of the mold broad sides rise disproportionately above the calculated theoretical specific heat dissipation after the automatic casting start, the flow rate V mold of the mold broad sides is integrally reduced until the increase in heat flow densities dq below the critical heat flow density increase of 0.05 MW / m 2 / sec. Simultaneously with the flattening of the heat flow density increase dq, the flow rate V mold is increased depending on the copper plate thickness to the target flow rate.
In this way, the steep rise in the heat flow density, measured in MW / m 2 , is absorbed above the empirically measured critical heat flow density increase during the acceleration phase of the casting speed to the target casting speed.
