Abstract
The object of the invention is a peeling device (1) for peeling food products (2), such as root crops or the like. The peeling device (1) includes a means (3) comprising a wall, inside the internal space (4) formed by which wall the food products (2) can be placed. The means (3) is a baggy container which can be closed, inside which container the food products (2) can be placed, together with liquid (5), if necessary. The inner surface (3a) of the container (3) is provided with protrusions (6). The object of the invention also includes a method for peeling food products (2) with the peeling device (1).
Description
Food products 2, such as, for example potatoes, are placed in the internal space 4 of the container 3 through the opening 9. The container 3 is formed in such a way that several, and also different, food products 2 can be placed in it at the same time. The opening 9 arranged in the container is then closed by means of the closing mechanism 8. Since the closing mechanism 8 closing the opening 9 is liquid tight, liquid 5 can be added into the container, if necessary, to enhance the peeling effect. Another purpose of the liquid 5 is to rinse the food products 2. The liquid 5 is preferably water.
Since the wall of the container 3 is transparent, the user of the peeling device 1 is able to see the food products in the container 3 and the level 5a of the liquid 5 and will thus be able to dose the contents of the container 3 correctly. To facilitate this dosage, a scale 10 showing, for example, the maximum height of the level 5a of the liquid is arranged on the outer wall of the container.
Once the opening 9 has been closed, the peeling device 1 is pressed, preferably with the palms, against the worktop 7, in an essentially perpendicular direction P with respect to the worktop 7. At the same time, the peeling device 1 is rotated on the surface of the worktop 7 in the direction of the arrows R (Figure 1 ). In doing so, friction is created between the food products 2 and the protrusions 6 on the inner surface 3a of the container 3, the said friction removing the peels or outer surface of the food products 2. As a worktop 7 can be used various types of essentially flat surfaces consisting of materials such as fibreglass, wood, stone or metal. The peeling device 1 relating to the invention is thus applicable for use in the home or during travel, for example, when yachting or caravanning. Furthermore, when the peeling device 1 is used, fresh water and electrical energy, or corresponding energy, are saved, which is particularly important when travelling.
Once the peels have been removed from the food products 2, the contents of the container 3 are emptied through the opening 9 for further treatment. The peeling device 1 can be stored for the next time as it endures several times of use.
Claims
1. A peeling device (1 ) for peeling food products (2), such as root crops or the like, which peeling device (1 ) includes a means (3) comprising a wall, inside the internal space (4) formed by which wall the food products (2) can be placed, characterised in that the means (3) is a baggy container which can be closed, inside which container the food products (2) can be placed, together with liquid (5), if necessary, and the inner surface of which container (3) is provided with protrusions (6).
2. A peeling device as claimed in claim 1 , characterised in that the container (3) is made of plastic, preferably transparent plastic.
3. A peeling device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the protrusions (6) are formed of projections adjacent to one another, which projections are conical and extend inwards towards the container.
4. A peeling device as claimed in claim 1 , characterised in that the protrusions (6) are formed of projections adjacent to one another, which projections are hemispherical and extend inwards towards the container.
5. A peeling device as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the container (3) can be closed by means of a closing mechanism (8).
6. A peeling device as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that the food products (2) can be placed in the container (3) through the opening (9) in conjunction with the closing mechanism (8).
7. A method for peeling off the peels of food products (2), such as root crops or the like, with a peeling device (1 ) which includes a means (3) comprising a wall, inside the internal space (4) formed by which wall (3) the food products (2) are placed, characterised in that the means (3) used is a baggy container which
can be closed, inside which container the food products (2) are placed, together with liquid (5), if necessary, and the inner surface (3a) of which container (3) is provided with protrusions (6), by means of which the peels are removed from the food products (2) by means of friction forming between the food products (2) and the protrusions (6), the said friction being created by pressing the container (3) against the worktop (7) and at the same time rotating the container (3) on the surface of the worktop (7).
