- the aim of the present invention is to eliminate the above-noted drawbacks of conventional burners, providing a combustion air feeder for high heat release burner of kilns, particularly for ceramic products, which allows to provide a considerable energy saving and to ensure operation with combustion air at high temperature and without subjecting the outside environment and the normal structures of the kiln to abnormal conditions which would be difficult to tolerate.
- an object of the present invention is to achieve the above-mentioned aim with a structure which is simple, relatively easy to provide in practice, safe in use, effective in operation and relatively low in cost.
- the present combustion air feeder for high heat release burner of kilns, particularly for ceramic products of the type which comprises a combustion chamber in which a tubular stem for feeding fuel in gas form enters, the chamber being connected to a cold air pipe, characterized in that it comprises a first adjustable throttling valve which controls the pipe substantially at the inlet of the chamber, and a hot air duct in which the outlet is connected to the chamber downstream of the first valve, the hot air duct being provided with a second adjustable throttling valve, the coordinated adjustment of the valves being adapted to determine the flow-rate and/or temperature of the combustion air.

- the first valve 9 comprises two flat rings 13 which are in mutual contact and are crossed by corresponding series of holes 14 distributed along a circumference; however, alternative embodiments are also possible.
- the rotation of one of the rings 13 with respect to the other one determines the full or partial alignment and/or the closure of the holes 14 and allows to adjust the flow-rate of the cold air supply arriving from the external circuit 6.
- the chamber 4 has a substantially elongated shape and is provided with longitudinally adjustable supporting means 15 for the tubular stem 7.
- the means 15 are constituted by a sleeve 16, one end of which is fixed by means of bolts 17 at holes 18 of the sleeve 5a of the pipe 5.
- the operation of the feeder 1 is as follows: inside the wall of the kiln 3, the duct 10, made of special material, conveys the hot air directly into the chamber 4 through the valve 12. By turning the ring 13 through a few degrees it is possible to cut out from the supply of the burner 2 the ambient-temperature air of the external circuit 6 which arrives from the pipe 5 and which ambient-temperature air reduced and kept under a slight pressure, keeps at ambient temperature all the outer parts of the burner.
- the flame control and ignition systems are cooled by the cold air, while the comburent is exclusively hot air.
- the duct 10 is provided inside the kiln 3 and its inlet 19 is connected proximate to one of the cooling regions of the kiln 3 which are located downstream of the product firing region: in this regard, three typical cooling regions can be identified.
- the material that arrives from the firing region is cooled rapidly and directly; in the second region, the material is cooled slowly and indirectly; and in the third region, the material is cooled as quickly as possible with direct contact with ambient-temperature air until the exit temperature is reached.
- the air that arrives from the second and third regions might instead be used for the direct heating of work environments; it is therefore extremely interesting to use as combustion air the air that arrives from the first region, although alternative solutions are also possible.
- burners with the feeder according to the invention have no difficulty in operating with air at approximately 500°C as regards the combustion chamber, whose temperature can be kept controlled at acceptable values which are close to 1000°C.
