Brennkraftmaschine mit einem Kurbelgehäuse, in dem eine Kurbelwelle drehbar gelagert ist, an der zumindest ein einen Kolben tragendes Pleuel angelenkt ist, wobei der Kolben in einem von einem Zylinderkopf unter Bildung eines Brennraums abgedeckten Zylinder bewegbar ist, wobei dem Brennraum Kraftstoff und Verbrennungsluft zuführbar sind, wobei in den Zylinderkopf eine Motorbremsvorrichtung eingesetzt ist, die ein mit einer Betätigungseinrichtung zusammenwirkendes Bremsventil aufweist, über das der Brennraum mit dem Abgassystem verbindbar ist, und wobei das Bremsventil mit einem Ventilteller in eine Ausnehmung im Zylinderkopfboden eingesetzt ist, die mit einer seitlichen Ausbuchtung zusammenwirkt,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Bremsventil (1) im Bereich zwischen zumindest einem Auslaßventil (34) und der Zylinderseitenwand (33) angeordnet ist die Ausbuchtung (26) den Ventilteller (6) umfaßt und sich zu zumindest einem Auslaßventilsitzbereich (29a) erstreckt.
