Claims (7)
- A paper or cardboard machine for manufacturing a paper or cardboard web (2) comprising a measuring station (1), said measuring station being situated between two work stations (3, 4) in said machine and comprising a scanner with two measuring heads (14, 15) travelling to and fro across the web (2) and between them defining a space through which the web (2) passes, driven by drive members (22-27), characterized in that the measuring station (1) comprises a continuous, flexible support strip (28) extending through said space between the measuring heads (14, 15), transverse and parallel to the web (2) from one edge (20) to the other (21), and drive members (40, 41) for winding and unwinding the support strip (28) onto or off rolls (29, 30) arranged at points outside each edge (20, 21) of the web, for displacement of the support strip (28) transversely to the web (2) in the same direction and at the same speed as the measuring heads (14, 15), and in that the support strip (28) is provided with at least one through-opening (33) to expose the web (2) to at least one measuring transducer, the emitter unit (42) and receiver unit (43) of which are situated in individual measuring heads or the same measuring head (14, 15).
- A machine as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the drive members (40, 41) for the winding and unwinding rolls (29, 30) comprise servomotors with braking function.
- A machine as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that a deflection roller (31, 32) is arranged on each side of the web (2), the axes of said deflection rollers (31, 32) being arranged in the same plane, said plane being disposed above the web (2) so that the support strip (28) runs around the deflection rollers (31, 32) and extends in a straight path of movement between these immediately above the web (2).
- A machine as claimed in claim 3, characterized in that it includes a control circuit for controlling the tension in the support strip (28) to ensure that the support strip (28) between the deflection rollers (31, 32) is straight and taut, said control circuit comprising a load cell (45) arranged at one (32) of the deflection rollers to measure the tension in the support strip (28), the control circuit being arranged to influence one of said drive members (40, 41) in the event of a deviation in the tension from a predetermined value corresponding to said stretch, thereby altering the speed of the relevant winding or unwinding roll (29 or 30).
- A machine as claimed in any of claims 1-4, characterized in that the support strip (28) is provided with an opening (33) for each measuring transducer and in that the dimension of the opening is as small as possible but sufficiently large to permit free passage of measuring signals from the measuring transducers.
- A machine as claimed in any of claims 1-5, characterized in that a plate (34) is arranged on the upper side of the lower measuring head and is extended therefrom in both directions of movement of the support strip (28) to form two downwardly directed parts (35) ensuring that the web (2) is correctly guided when the measuring heads are moved in towards the web (2).
- A machine as claimed in any of claims 1-6, characterized in that the width of the support strip (28) is somewhat greater than the distance between stationary support plates (6) for the web (2) arranged upstream and downstream of the measuring station, and in that the support strip (28) overlaps edge portions of adjacent support plates (6) and is in sliding contact therewith.
