Description

The invention relates to a shielded connector with a first and a second housing part and disposed between them Sealing body.

Such a shielded connector serves to provide a high screen attenuation also at interfaces between an electrical or electronic Device and the shielded cables to be connected to it to obtain. The housing parts of the connector have a conductive Surface on, with the shielding of the cables in electrical connection stands.

Apart from a protection against electromagnetic radiation is used by Such a connector also required that he good protection offers against mechanical influences. In particular, the desired seal to get against the entry of dust and moisture is between the two housing parts usually used a rubber seal, which seals the interior of the housing parts from the outside. In the area of the rubber seal, however, that of the conductive surface the housing parts provided shield interrupted, so that additional measures are required to meet the required high levels To achieve screen attenuation. For example, additional components, about sheet metal frame, used to be in spite of between the housing parts arranged rubber seal the required shielding attenuation or special housings can be used. These However, measures are not in some applications for cost reasons acceptable.

From US 4,720,606 which is considered to be the closest prior art is a seal on box-like devices with electrical equipment known, the elastic, profile-like sealing body and uniting a shielding element into a compliant profile, to abut surfaces of components against foreign substances and To seal electromagnetic fields.

The object of the invention is thus to provide a shielded connector of the type mentioned in such a way that both a high screen attenuation as well as a good seal over the exterior is achieved without special, costly measures should be taken.

In Fig. 1, a shielded connector is shown schematically. This includes a first housing part 10, a second housing part 12, an intermediate the housing parts 10, 12 arranged sealing body 14 and a Locking mechanism 16, by means of which the two housing parts 10, 12th can be connected to each other. The usually inside the two housing parts arranged components are not in the figures as they do not contribute to the understanding of the invention.

The desired shielding of the connector is achieved by the first and the second housing part 10, 12 have a conductive surface. This conductive surface is either by applying a conductive Materials formed on the housing parts, if these are not one consist of conductive material, or housing parts are used, the consist of a conductive material. Thus the desired high Shield attenuation is achieved, in addition, the sealing body 14 consists of a electrically conductive material, namely a light metal alloy. Thus, the two housing parts 10, 12 are above the sealing body 14 in electrical connection.

The first housing part 10, which in the embodiment shown, a mounting housing is, has on its the second housing part 12 facing End face on a circumferential projection 18. The second housing part 12, which is a counter housing here, has a first housing part 10th facing end face, opposite to the parting plane between the two housing parts is inclined at an angle of 15 °.

32 gebildet ist (siehe auch Fig. 4).The arranged between the end faces of the two housing parts 10, 12 Sealing body 14 has an H-shaped profile in cross-section (see the figures 2 and 3). At the central web 20 of the sealing body close two outer Webs 22, 26 and two internal webs 24, 28 at. These are each circumferential, so that between the webs 22, 24 on the one hand and between the webs 26, 28 on the other hand in each case a groove 30 and 32 formed is (see also Fig. 4).

In the grooves 30, 32, an O-ring 34, 36 is arranged in each case in the case of each other mounted housing parts 10, 12 between the sealing body 14 and held clamped the corresponding end face of the housing parts becomes.

The sealing body 14 acts with the two housing parts 10, 12 in the manner of a Labyrinth seal together by the projection 18 of the first housing part 10 engages in the groove 30 of the sealing body 14 and an on the inside Bridge 28 trained extension 38 with the first housing part 10th facing edge portion of the second housing part 12 overlaps. The way formed labyrinth seal ensures on the one hand a high Shield attenuation over a wide frequency range up to about 1 GHz and on the other hand, supported by the O-rings 34 and 36, a good mechanical Sealing between the two housing parts, with the IP degree of protection > 65 can be achieved.

As far as the components used here already is known from Figures 1 to 4, the same reference numerals are used; Reference is made to the above explanations.

In contrast to the above embodiment is in the variant according to the Figures 5 and 6 no O-ring 34 used in the groove 30. Instead, it will here a groove 30 'used on the inside of the outside Web 22 is provided with a circumferential constriction 40. The groove 30 'with the constriction 40 is dimensioned so that together with the circulating Projection a clamping action between the sealing body and the projection 18 is achieved. This ensures on the one hand a good mechanical Sealing even without the use of an O-ring, while for another the sealing body 14 held captive on the first housing part 10 becomes. Also in this embodiment, the desired shield attenuation at the same time maintaining a high degree of IP protection.

A significant advantage of the connector according to the invention is that formed in the manner described sealing body 14 without special Effort can replace the rubber seal, usually is used between the two housing parts of a connector. If this connector was previously shielded, now eliminated the measures that were needed to achieve the desired shielding attenuation despite using the rubber seal to achieve. If the Plug connector has not been shielded, he can now, if its housing parts are either provided with a conductive surface or off a conductive material, to a shielded connector be upgraded, since the existing of an electrically conductive material Seal body together with the two housing parts for the required Screen damping ensures. In both cases, the already existing Housing parts continue to be used, as described here Sealing body 14 is then used in the manner of a modular system, if it is required.
