Claims (12)

  1. Device forming an immersion heater including a collector (1) in the form of a tube sealed at both its extremities and containing a heat transfer fluid for heating (2) and, housed within the collector (1) and immersed in the heat transfer fluid (2), a heating cartridge (3) with an internal electric heating resistor (5) embedded in the cartridge (3) being insulated electrically from the latter, characterised in that the heat transfer fluid (2) is electrically insulating.
  2. Device according to claim 1, characterised in that the heat transfer fluid (2) is mineral oil, preferably a paraffin-type mineral oil with a high viscosity index.
  3. Device according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterised in that the heating cartridge (3) is fixed inside the collector (1) approximately coaxially with the latter and being supported at one of its extremities by a support sleeve (7) fixed through one (1a) of the extremity walls of the collector (1).
  4. Device according to claim 3, characterised in that the support sleeve (7) of the cartridge (3) is of an electrically insulating material and includes an externally-threaded cylindrical part (7a) fitting into a corresponding tapped hole (1b) in the extremity wall (1a) of the collector (1) and a flange (7b) resting against the external face of the extremity wall (1a) when the sleeve (7) is in the position in which it is locked into the extremity wall (1a).
  5. Device according to claim 3, characterised in that support sleeve (7) of the cartridge (3) is of a metal material and includes an externally-threaded cylindrical part (7a) fitting into a corresponding tapped hole (9a) of another sleeve (9) of insulating material also forming a screw for fixing the sleeve (7) to the metallic extremity wall (1a) of the collector (1) and a flange (7b) resting against the other sleeve (9) when the sleeve (7) is in the position in which it is locked into the other sleeve (9).
  6. Device according to any one of claims 3 to 5, characterised in that the heating cartridge (3) is fixed to the support sleeve (7) by soldering or by glueing.
  7. Device according to any one of claims 3 to 6, characterised in that the heating cartridge (3) includes a cylindrical tube (4) containing compacted magnesium in which is embedded the electric heating resistor (5) whose two extremities are connected respectively to two power supply wires (6) passing through the support sleeve (7) and projecting outside the latter.
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the heating cartridge (3) includes one or more rings (8) of an electrically insulating material force-fitted onto the tube (4) of the cartridge (3).
  9. Device according to claim 7 or claim 8, characterised in that the free extremity of the heating cartridge (3) is covered by a cap of an electrically insulating material.
  10. Device according to any one of claims 7 to 9, characterised in that the tube (4) of the heating cartridge (3) and the collector (1) are of metal, for example of steel.
  11. Device according to any one of claims 7 to 9, characterised in that the tube (4) of the heating cartridge (3) is of an electrically insulating material, for example of ceramic material.
  12. Use of the immersion heater device as specified in claims 1 to 11 in a radiator of a water circulation heating system.
