Abstract
Description
- This invention relates to a clip for identification cards, more specially a clip which is supporting an identification card or card-holder and allows it to be fastened, for example, to an user's pocket.
- The clip, according to this invention, is of the type comprised of two opposite elements joined and articulated to each other, which means it is quite simple and practical.
- The clip, according to this invention, is comprised of a first flat laminar and rectangular element which has a J-shaped folded extension formed from a cutting and angularly protruding from one of its two faces; and a second also flat laminar and rectangular element which has at one of its ends an extension as a flap back folded on the element itself.
- The end of the J-shaped extension of the first element may be placed under the flap of the second element in which position the clip is configured.
- The clip has a V-shaped general configuration in which the J-shaped extension of the first element acts as a spring when combined with the second element.
- The clip is effectively operated when exerting an external pressure on the diverging ends thereof.
- To secure the J-shaped extension of the first element in order to be retained under the flap of the second element, the J-shaped extension surface has at least a protrusion and the surface of the flap back folded on the element itself has at least one entrance.
- Therefore, when placing the first element extension under the second element flap, the protrusion is fitted in the recess of the second element flap.
- The clip, according to this invention, has an extension backwardly folded from at least one of the two elements converging ends of said clip within which an identification card or card-holder may be placed in which a suitable hole is provided.
- At the elongated side edges of the two laminar rectangular elements without extensions there is provided angular rims as reinforcements.
- Drawings attached only for the purpose of example will allow to best understand the invention, the features it offers and the advantages it may contribute therein.
- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the first and second elements.
- Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the first element in a position inverse to that shown in Fig. 1.
- Fig. 3 is a cross longitudinal view of the clip with the two elements joined to each other.
-
- The parts having numeral references in the drawings correspond to the parts indicated below.
- Fig. 1 shows a
first element 10 and asecond element 20. -
Element 10 is laminar, having a generally rectangular configuration and has from a central cutting 11 a folded J-shaped extension 12 protruding from one face of saidelement 10. In Fig. 2 thesame element 10 can be seen in inverse position with respect to Fig. 1 so that said J-shaped extension 12 can be viewed in detail. - The general surface of the
extension 12 has aprotrusion 14. -
Element 20 is also laminar, having a general rectangular configuration and has at itsend 21 an extension folded on itself constituting aflap 22. - The general surface of
flap 22 has arecess 25. -
Same element 20 has at itsextremity 23 opposite to theflap 22 another extension which configure aflap 24, the usefulness of which will be discussed later on. - At the elongated side edges of the two
elements angular rims - The
extension 12 of theelement 10 may be placed under theflap 22 of theelement 20 as shown in Fig. 3 and in said position a clip is configured according to this invention. - When placing
extension 12 betweenflap 22 andelement 20 itself, retention is secured by seating of theprotrusion 14 withinrecess 25 as it is shown in Fig. 3. In turn, protrusion 14 andrecess 24 assure that the twoelements - This clip is effectively operated by exerting an external pressure on the
extremities elements - The clip being open in the way stated, it may receive under the
flap 24 an identification card or card-holder provided with a suitable hole. In this position, the card or card-holder remains securely bound. - The said clip, provided with the identification card or card-holder, may be fasten on the user, by exerting an external pressure on the
extremities - In a preferred embodiment of the invention,
elements - The clip according to this invention can be used as a promotion element because of the simplicity and low cost of producing it.
- The surfaces of the
laminar elements - The characteristics of the disclosed materials, the shapes and the general proportions stated in this description will be variable without departing from the spirit of the invention.
