- Such brushes are generally known and are used to counteract draught through slits, for instance the draught through the slit between the lower side of the front door and the threshold concerned.
- the known brushes mostly consist of a metal strip in which bristles are clamped.
- the attachment means with which the brush is attached to a door are usually visible here.
- the design of the product here is not adapted to the design of the door or other interior elements, so that these known brushes are unaesthetic.
- Another drawback is that dust and dirt accumulate at the upper side of such a brush.
- the object of the invention is a brush, in particular a door weather strip, with which these objections are met.
- the brush retainer comprises a trim and a profile with a first sidepiece running in longitudinal direction of the profile and a second sidepiece arranged opposite the first sidepiece, supporting means being provided for letting the trim abut the first and second sidepiece, the width of the trim being larger than the distance between the first and the second sidepiece augmented with the width of the widest sidepiece.
- the attachment means are hidden from view by the trim.
- the trim can be arranged or removed in a simple manner and can therefore easily be replaced by another trim, for instance in another colour, so that the brush can simply be adapted to the interior surrounding the door concerned.
- Both sidepieces are preferably situated above each other.
- the supporting means are adapted for letting the trim bulge to the outside, seen in vertical plane of profile.
- the trim is then pressed against the -edge of the- sidepieces. In that way the trim is kept in the desired location in a secure manner. No slits or joints are created between the trim and the sidepieces against which the trim is pressed, so that in itself no dirt or dust can accumulate at that location.
- the somewhat bulging shape of the trim gives the brush an extra fine look.
- the trim is flat and made of material that is flexible in cross-section. Furthermore the trim can preferably be painted over.
- the sidepieces have a concave inner surface, seen in cross-section.

Abstract
Description
- The invention relates to a draught excluding brush, particularly for excluding draught at the lower side of a door, comprising a brush retainer or brush holder with a lower side to which a large number of bristles are attached.
- Such brushes are generally known and are used to counteract draught through slits, for instance the draught through the slit between the lower side of the front door and the threshold concerned.
- The known brushes mostly consist of a metal strip in which bristles are clamped. The attachment means with which the brush is attached to a door are usually visible here. The design of the product here is not adapted to the design of the door or other interior elements, so that these known brushes are unaesthetic. Another drawback is that dust and dirt accumulate at the upper side of such a brush.
- The object of the invention is a brush, in particular a door weather strip, with which these objections are met.
- Said object of the invention is achieved with a draught excluding brush in which the brush retainer comprises a trim and a profile with a first sidepiece running in longitudinal direction of the profile and a second sidepiece arranged opposite the first sidepiece, supporting means being provided for letting the trim abut the first and second sidepiece, the width of the trim being larger than the distance between the first and the second sidepiece augmented with the width of the widest sidepiece.
- With these measures it is achieved that the attachment means are hidden from view by the trim. The trim can be arranged or removed in a simple manner and can therefore easily be replaced by another trim, for instance in another colour, so that the brush can simply be adapted to the interior surrounding the door concerned. Both sidepieces are preferably situated above each other.
- Preferably the supporting means are adapted for letting the trim bulge to the outside, seen in vertical plane of profile. The trim is then pressed against the -edge of the- sidepieces. In that way the trim is kept in the desired location in a secure manner. No slits or joints are created between the trim and the sidepieces against which the trim is pressed, so that in itself no dirt or dust can accumulate at that location. The somewhat bulging shape of the trim gives the brush an extra fine look.
- Preferably the trim is flat and made of material that is flexible in cross-section. Furthermore the trim can preferably be painted over.
- Preferably the sidepieces have a concave inner surface, seen in cross-section.
- In a preferred embodiment of a brush according to the invention the supporting means comprise one or more ridges running over the length of the profile, preferably with such a height that the trim bulges to the outside. In this way the trim is supported over the entire length of the brush.
- Preferably the brush retainer comprises two end pieces which are or can be attached at both head ends. In this way the sides of the brush are covered. so that no dirt, moist or dust can end up in the profile and the brush is beautifully finished off at the sides as well. Preferably the end pieces are detachably attached.
- Preferably the supporting means consist here of two ridges running in the longitudinal direction of the profile with a turned, substantially hook-shaped cross-section. Preferably the end pieces are provided with protrusions, for instance bush-shaped protrusions or projections, which can be fitted in the hook-shaped ridges, for instance clamped or snapped. This has the advantage that no additional provisions have to the arranged to the profile for attaching the end pieces.
- In a further preferred embodiment the cross-section of the trim pointedly tapers at the upper side. In this way no dust or dirt can accumulate at the upper side.
- The invention will further be elucidated on the basis of the drawing, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a draught brush according to the invention;
- Figure 3 shows a cross-section of a brush in accordance with figure 1;
- Figure 3 shows an end cap in side view of a brush according to figure 1;
- Figure 4 shows a front view of an end cap according to figure 3;
- Figure 5 shows a perspective view on a part of a profile with end cap of another possible brush according to the invention;
- Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a part of a profile of yet another possible brush according to the invention;
- Figure 7 shows a cross-section of a fourth possible embodiment of a brush according to the invention.
-
- Figure 1 shows in perspective a brush 1 excluding draught according to the invention which for instance can be attached to the lower side of a door in order to stop draught through the slit between the threshold and the lower side of a front door. The brush 1 consists of a
brush retainer 2 which at the lower side is provided with a large number ofbristles 3. Thebrush retainer 2 consists of a trim 4, a profile 5 andend caps 6. A first orupper sidepiece 7 runs in the longitudinal direction of the profile 5 as well as a second orlower sidepiece 8 arranged opposite thefirst sidepiece 7. - The brush 1 is shown in cross-section in figure 2. The flat, flexible trim 4 - for instance made of PP- is slid in the profile 5 -for instance made of PVC or aluminium-. As clearly shown in this figure the profile 5 comprises two supporting
means 9. The supportingmeans 9 consists of tworidges 9 running in the longitudinal direction of the profile with a turned, substantially hook-shaped cross-section. Thesidepieces ridges 9 push the trim 4, that is slid in, against theinclined sidepieces end caps 6 at the front and which connects to the angles of inclination of thesidepieces - The width of the trim 4 is larger than the distance between the first and the second sidepiece augmented with the width of the
widest sidepiece 7. As a result the trim cannot be taken from between the sidepieces without first removing theend caps 6. - The end caps or
end pieces 6 are provided with bush-shaped protrusions 10 which can fittingly be clamped in the hook-shaped ridges 9 (see figures 3 and 4). - With the help of attachment means 11, for instance screws, the brush 1 can be arranged on a door. For that purpose holes are arranged in the flat
rear wall 12 of the profile 5 in between the two supportingmeans 9. The holes and thescrews 11 arranged in it can in this manner be reached well with a screw driver when the trim 4 is not slid into the profile 5. After mounting the trim 4 the attachment means 11 are hidden from view. - The cross-section of the profile 5 tapers pointedly at the
upper side 13. In this way it can be prevented that much dust and dirt can accumulate. At the lower side the profile 5 is provided with arecess 14 which is limited by two substantiallyparallel edges 15 which at the open side of therecess 14 are both provided withridges 16 that face each other. Between theseridges 16 thebristles 3 are clamped. - In order to give the profile 5 a wall thickness that is as even as possible and to save on material,
hollow recesses 17 are arranged at the locations where the supportingridges 9 and therear wall 12 come together. - In the figures 3 and 4 an
end cap 6 is shown which serves to cover the sides of the profile 5 after the trim 4 has been slid behind thesidepieces end cap 6 has the same look from aside as the profile 5, namely a flatrear side 18, a pointed upper side 19, abulging front 20 and a straightlower side 21. Theend cap 6 is provided with two bush-shaped protrusions 22 which can fittingly be slid and clamped into the hook-shaped supportingridges 9 of the profile 5. At thefront 20 theend cap 6 is provided with afront surface 23 which is parallel to the bush-shaped protrusions 22 and approximately just as long. The width of thisfront surface 23 is substantially just as large as the distance between thesidepiece 7 and thesidepiece 8 of the profile 5 so that thefront surface 23 can fittingly be arranged in between thesidepieces - Figure 5 shows an alternative embodiment of a profile and an end cap for a brush according to the invention. This embodiment comprises a
profile 24 with a flatrear side 25 and anupper sidepiece 26 and alower sidepiece 27 which is at angle to it. Behind the lower sidepiece 27 a supportingmeans 28 is situated, consisting of substantially square portion with a closed hollow cross-section and running in the longitudinal direction of the profile. This portion presses the trim, after arranging it, against the inner side of thesidepieces end cap 29 comprises a firsthollow protrusion 30 which can fittingly be slid into the hollow part of the profile, and a second hollow protrusion 31 which can fittingly be clamped in between theupper sidepiece 26 and therear wall 25. - Figure 6 shows yet another possible embodiment, consisting of a substantially triangular profile 32 consisting of a flat rear wall 33, a somewhat bulging
wall 34 and an openlower side 35, in which bristles can be screwed. Both at the upper side and the lower side of the bulging front wall asidepiece front wall 34 that between thefront wall 34 on the one hand and thesidepieces front wall 34 thus serves as supporting means for holding the trim against the inside of thesidepieces openings 38 are arranged which are registered to the attachment holes 39 in the rear wall 33, so that the attachment holes 39 and the attachment means which are arranged in there can be reached with for instance a screw driver. - In figure 7 an exemplary embodiment is shown consisting of a
profile 40 with a flat rear wall 41 which can be attached to a door, atransverse wall 42 which is transverse to the rear wall 41 at approximately in the middle of the rear wall 41, and approximately is half as long as the rear wall 41. Aleg 43 extends from the end of thetransverse wall 42 to the lower side of theprofile 40. Transverse to the lower end of theleg 43 anedge 44 is arranged. Between the rear side 41, thetransverse wall 42 and the leg 43 a space 45 is formed which extends over the entire length of the brush. In this space 45 a substantially C-shapedsecond profile 46 is clamped, of which the open side substantially coincides with the open side of the space 45. In this profile a large number ofbristles 3 is attached. Both on the upper side of the rear wall 41 and the front end of the edge 44 anarrow sidepiece sidepieces corner edge 49 where thetransverse wall 42 and theleg 43 come together.
