Der Halteteil weist im hinteren Bereich einen relativ steifen Abschnitt auf, der zur sicheren Befestigung der Ventilschaftabdichtung auf der Ventilführung dient, während im vorderen Abschnitt durch die Verjüngung Platz zur Aufnahme der statischen Dichtung geschaffen wird, die gleichzeitig die Dichtlippe zur Abdichtung des Ventilschaftes trägt. Besondere Versteifungsringe können entfallen. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Lösung liegt somit eine klare Trennung zwischen Haftsitzbereich und statischer Abdichtung vor. Claims (7)
- A valve stem seal, comprising a sealing member of elastomer with a spring for preloading the sealing lip against a surface of the valve stem to be sealed, and a retaining part which is connected to the sealing member and by way of which the seal is mounted on the circumferential surface of the valve stem guide, characterised in that in its section overlapping the valve stem guide the retaining part (6) has a front region (9), which is of tapered wall thickness and which is set back radially from the valve guide, for accommodating the sealing member (1) of elastomer, and a rear portion (10), which is of increased wall thickness, for direct application on the circumferential surface (11) of the valve stem guide (7).
- A valve stem seal according to Claim 1, characterised in that the sealing member (1) is mounted via an annular extension (12) in the tapered region (9) of the retaining part (6).
- A valve stem seal according to Claim 2, characterised in that the annular extension (12) is mounted with its bore (13) applied under radial preloading on the circumferential surface (11) of the valve stem guide (7).
- A valve stem seal according to either Claim 2 or Claim 3, characterised in that the bore (13) of the annular extension (12) is provided with a corrugated profile (14).
- A valve stem seal according to any one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that in its rear reinforced portion (10) the bore (13) of the retaining part (6) is provided with a bevel (15).
- A valve stem seal according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterised in that in its rear reinforced portion (10) the retaining part (6) is provided with at least one slot (16) extending in the axial direction.
- A valve stem seal according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the retaining part (6) is made from a tough hard plastics material.
