Definitions
- the above-described apparatus is electronic and works in response to signals received from the video tape, CD-ROM disk or a pre-established software, as for instance, from a microcomputer.
- the disk (15) containing a given sequence of capsules (16) of fragrances, pre-established in tune with the event, movie or show, is adequately inserted into the receptable (3), which is then closed.
- the mechanism (13) turns the disk (15), positioning the respective capsule (16) of the required fragrance under the device (17), which, with a vertical movement downwards and upwards, in this order, perforates said capsule (16), thus tearing it open with the pointed element (18).
- the duration of the fragrance can be controlled, for instance, by the chemical formulation itself, previously produced for the respective event.
- the duration of the fragrance can also be controlled by means of odor-inhibiting agents, such as chemical inhibitors, which can be foreseen in the set of capsules (16).
- odor-inhibiting agents such as chemical inhibitors, which can be foreseen in the set of capsules (16).
- the driving of the apparatus as a whole that is to say, the mechanism (13), the puncturing device (17) and the fan (11), is effected by electronic signals, inaudible to the spectators.
- the means which actuate these elements are such as not to produce any sounds or noises strange to the ear during the performance of the event.
- the method and apparatus of the present invention can be produced for most diverse situations. Thus, for instance, they can be designed for existing movies, or else program them for synchronization with the sequence of the scenes. Old movies can be reedited with signals for synchonism with the inventive apparatus, or else tapes incorporating signals for synchronism with the apparatus can be made.
- the disks produced can be either disposable or returnable to be re-edited. This edition is obviously accomplished by refilling them with respective fragrance capsules referring specifically to the corresponding motion picture.
- the apparatus of the present invention is usually small and can be installed, for instance, besides a television set, a video cassete recorder or a microcomputer with CD-ROM.
- a television set for instance, a video cassete recorder or a microcomputer with CD-ROM.
- several units of the apparatus (1) can be conveniently distributed in large rooms such as movie theaters and, in this case, they will be driven at the same time and will have the same disks.
- the apparatus of the present invention can even be produced incorporated in television sets, as is the case with the current video cassette recorders.

Claims (9)
- A method for exhaling a sequence of fragrances into a room tuned to and synchronised with an event, said method being characterised by comprising the steps of:sequentially selecting one capsule of a set of fragrance-filled capsules (16) in response to an electronic signal associated with an action of the event, said capsules being disposed on a turning disk (15) inside a housing (1);opening the selected capsule and dropping the fragrance of said capsule on a receptacle (10) located below said turning disk; andcreating an air current inside said housing, whereby said fragrance is exhaled outwards of the housing into said room.
- A method according to claim 1, characterised in that said capsules (16) are opened by perforation.
- A method according to claim 1, characterised in that said air current is created by means of a fan (11) located inside said housing.
- A method according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterised in that said capsules (16) are opened in response to an electronic signal received from a video tape, or from a CD-room disk, or from a software of a microcomputer.
- An apparatus for carrying out the method defined in anyone of the preceding claims, characterised by comprising:a housing (1) having on a first side and on a second side opposite to said first side a plurality of small bores (2, 7);a movable receptacle (3) in said housing, said receptacle (3) having a hollowed out portion (5);a turning disk (15) above said receptacle (3), said disk being capable of carrying a set of fragrance-filled capsules (16):an opening means (18) for opening a predetermined capsule (16) above said hollowed out portion, said capsule being positioned above said hollowed out portion by means of rotation of said turning disk (15) in response to an electronic signal;a receptacle (10) below said movable receptacle (3) for receiving the fragrance dropped from said capsule; anda fan (11) facing said receptacle (10), said fan being activated upon receipt of said electronic signal, thereby exhaling said fragrance through said a plurality of small bores (2) of said first side.
- An apparatus according to claim 5. characterised in that said opening means comprises a pointed element (18), said pointed element being movable in a vertical direction above said disk.
- An apparatus according to claim 5, characterised in that said housing (1) is divided into upper and lower compartments (12,8) by a plate (9) that extends from said second side toward said first side.
- An apparatus according to claim 7, characterised in that said movable receptacle (3) and said turning disk (15) are located in said upper compartment (12), while said receptacle (10) and said fan (11) are located in said lower compartment (8).
- An apparatus according to claim 5, 6, 7 or 8, characterised in that said capsules (16) are opened in response to an electronic signal received from a video tape, or from a CD-room disk, or from a software of a microcomputer.
