Abstract

A spin drum assembly (1) for use in a horizontal axis clothes washing machine. The spin drum (40) assembly includes a door (90) movably mounted to a spin drum. The spin drum has a generally cylindrical side wall (40), a pair of plastic end caps (50) and a pair of metal trunnions (60,60'). The side wall is composed of stainless steel and defines an access opening. The end caps are respectively secured to opposing ends of the side wall and the trunnions are respectively secured over the end caps. The trunnions each have an outwardly-extending mounting shaft (70) and an arcuate track (71). The tracks are spaced radially outward from the mounting shafts. The door is movably mounted to the tracks so as to permit the door to move between a closed position, wherein the door covers the access opening, and an open position, wherein the door is spaced from the access opening.
