Description
Claims (25)
- A centre-feed roll characterised in that the roll is formed from two webs (2,3) each having lines of weakness (4) which allow the web to be separated into a plurality of sheets (5), the lines of weakness (4) of one web being offset from those of the other such that in use the sheets (5) can be dispensed singly from alternate webs, wherein the ratio of the line of weakness strength to the web tensile strength is less than 1:5.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 1 wherein the force required to detach a sheet (5) from the web (2,3) is less than 3000g.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 1 wherein the force required to detach a sheet (5) from the web (2,3) is less than 800g.
- The centre-feed roll of any preceding claim wherein the lines of weakness (4) are in the form of perforations.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 4 wherein the perforation width is greater than 1mm.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 4 or 5 wherein the bond radio is less than 1:5.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 4 or 5 wherein the bond ratio is 1:10 or less.
- The centre-feed roll of claim 4 or 5 wherein the bond ratio is 1:20 or less.

- The centre-feed roll of any preceding claim wherein the offset ratio is less than 60/40.
- The centre-feed roll of any preceding claim wherein the offset ratio is 50/50, such that each sheet (5) is presented an amount equal to that of the previous and the subsequent sheets.
- The centre-feed roll of any preceding claim wherein the web (2,3) is formed from paper, nonwoven or film.
- A centre-feed roll dispensing system comprising:a centre-feed roll as claimed in any of claims 1 to 16; anda dispenser (6) for supporting the roll (1) and having an aperture (7) therein through which the webs (2,3) can pass from the inner surface of the roll, the line of weakness strength in each web (2,3) being selected such that the web can be withdrawn from the centre of the roll but is broken as a result of the resistance provided adjacent or within the aperture (7).
- The centre-feed roll dispensing system of claim 17 wherein the axis of the roll in use (1) is vertical.
- The centre-feed roll dispensing system of claim 18 wherein the webs (2,3) are dispensed from the bottom end of the roll in use.
- A centre-feed roll dispensing system comprising:a centre-feed roll (1) as claimed in any of claims 1 to 16; anda base (12) provided with a rim (14) extending around an aperture, which rim (14) projects into the centre of the roll (1) in use, whereby the webs (2,3) may pass through the aperture from the inner surface of the roll, the rim (14) providing sufficient resistance such that the sheets may be dispensed singly from alternate webs.
- The dispensing system of claim 20 wherein the cross-section of the rim (14) is circular.
- The dispensing system of claim 20 wherein the rim (14) is a truncated cone with its narrower section projecting further into the roll (1) in use than its wider section.
- The dispensing system of claim 20 wherein the base (12) is formed as an insert in the end of the roll (1).
- The dispensing system of any of claims 20 to 23 wherein the base (12) is formed from plastics or card.
- A centre-feed roll dispensing system comprising:a centre-feed roll (1) as claimed in any of claims 1 to 16; anda dispenser (16) for supporting the roll and having a base (12) therein which is provided with a rim (14) extending around an aperture, which rim (14) projects into the centre of the roll (1) in use, the webs passing through the aperture from the inner surface of the roll, the line of weakness strength in each web being selected such that the web can be withdrawn from the centre of the roll but is broken as a result of the resistance provided adjacent or within the aperture.
