  1.   5. A jack according to claim 4, in which said part is urged resiliently towards its abutment position.
  6. A jack according to claim 4, in which said part is moved under drive from the drive screw.
  7. A jack according to claim 6, in which said part (12) has an end portion (8) situated above the arm and constituting said abutment, and an opposite end portion (15) received in a fork (14), said fork pivoting on the arm about the same pin as said part and having the drive screw passing therethrough.
  8. A jack according to claim 7, in which the drive screw (4) comes into abutment against said opposite end (15) of the moving part.
  9. A jack according to any one of claims 1 to 8, in which the fixed abutments (6a, 6b; 7a, 7b) are shaped in such a manner that the side of the groove (9) which is vertical when the lift arm (2) is in its position for inserting the jack under the vehicle becomes substantially horizontal and supports the rim when the lift arm is in its position for imparting maximum lift to the vehicle.
