Abstract

The joint is made from a supple material such as rubber and consists of a front wall (5), a rear wall (6) which acts as a trough, and two side walls (8) with flexible lips (9) to engage with the walls of the drainage groove. Each of the lips has a lengthwise edge (19) which is folded towards the rear wall of the joint at an angle of between 60 degrees C and 120 degrees C. The first set of lips from the front wall of the joint is set at a distance from the front wall equivalent to about 40% of the central portion of the joint, while the volume of the joint between the front, rear and side walls is partitioned into air-filled cavities.

Description

The present invention relates to a flexible seal allowing the caulking of a drainage groove arranged in a wall, in particular in the wall of a tunnel.

To avoid water infiltration through the tunnel wall, and training in case of frost dangerous stalactites for vehicles it is known to make transverse grooves in the wall of the tunnel, to arrange from the bottom of these grooves drilling in the surrounding land, to constitute drains, and insert profiled joints into the grooves in flexible material, having a thickness less than the depth of the grooves. These seals allow to close the opening of the grooves and to delimit with the bottom of these watertight conduits for flow drainage water. These conduits open above evacuation channels arranged at the foot of the wall of the tunnel.

There is a profiled joint of this type comprising a front wall facing the interior of the tunnel after placing the seal in the groove, a rear wall forming gutter, facing towards the bottom of the groove after fitting the seal, two side walls, comprising flexible lips which are applied elastically against the sides delimiting laterally the groove to ensure the maintenance of the seal therein, and two side wings projecting laterally from said front wall, intended to come into abutment against the inner face of the tunnel wall when the joint is inserted into the bloodletting and to collect the waters of condensation dripping on this face.

The central part of the joint, delimited by said front, rear and side walls can present several internal sails perpendicular to them to each other, delimiting a plurality of rooms longitudinal filled with air. These rooms, in addition to a lighter profile and gain in quantity of material, improve the thermal insulation of the duct flow to prevent ice from forming in this in case of frost.

This existing seal is satisfactory in practice, but has some drawbacks, particularly in the case of tunnel walls in concrete.

Indeed, the tolerances in the width of the bleeding can be significant so that the lips holding a joint can be more or less strongly applied against the delimiting faces laterally the bleeding. Too weak an application of these lips leads to insufficient maintenance of the joint, and, in case of overflow of the flow duct, at risk of leakage between these lips and the delimiting faces laterally the bleeding.

In addition, the angle formed by a delimiting face laterally the groove and by the internal face of the wall of the tunnel may include "spallings", that is to say may be cut or damaged on larger portions or less important of the bleeding. When these sprains are deep, holding lips can escape out of the bleeding by elastic return, particularly when the seal tends to pivot in the groove and to escape out of it, in case of "flushing". This term designates a non-alignment of the two parts of the inner face of the tunnel wall located on either side other than a bleeding, which can happen when the bleeding is arranged at the level of a concreting recovery.

Joint positioning faults lead to to drainage water leaks, and therefore to the creation stalactites in case of frost.

A "mismatch" can reach two centimeters and conducts, in addition to the risk of pivoting above of the seal, to a defective application of said lateral wings against the internal face of the wall of the tunnel. These wings then lose their effectiveness.

The present invention aims to remedy these different disadvantages.

The seal it relates to is of the aforementioned type.

Selon une caractéristique de l'invention, chaque lèvre de maintien présente, au niveau de son extrémité libre, un rebord longitudinal replié du côté de ladite paroi arrière du joint selon un angle pouvant aller de 60 à 120°.According to a characteristic of the invention, each retaining lip present, at its end free, a longitudinal edge folded back on the side of said rear wall of the joint at an angle of up to 60 at 120 °.

Thanks to this shape and the flexibility of the lip support, this edge is tightly applied against the side laterally delimiting the bleeding, which whatever the possible width variations of the bleeding. In addition, each retaining lip provides a gutter for collecting and discharging susceptible water to infiltrate between the lateral faces of the joint and said faces laterally delimiting the groove. The plurality of rows of retaining lips that the seal thus ensures perfect retention of the seal in the bleeding and a perfect seal.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the row of holding lips closest to the wall front of the seal is located at a distance from this wall greater than the greatest depths of "sprains" which can usually be seen at the angle formed by a side laterally delimiting the groove and by the internal face of the tunnel wall. For a joint classic with a central shape substantially square, suitable for usual bloodletting having a width of the order of 60 mm, this distance is at less than about 40% of the width of this part central.

It appears indeed that with the joint according to the prior art, a deep sprain extends beyond the first row of holding lips that includes gasket. The lip on the side of this sprain does not can therefore bear against the delimiting face laterally the groove, and the lip located on the side opposite stresses the structure of the joint, the made of its elastic deformation. This constraint leads warping of the joint which is the source of the risk aforementioned pivoting and exhaust of the seal out of the bleeding.

The seal according to the invention is devoid of lips holding likely to be next to a spalling, which eliminates this risk of pivoting and seal exhaust, and therefore the leaks result.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the lateral wings projecting on either side of the front face of the seal have a large width, that is to say at least equal to half the width of this front face.

These wings provide wide coverage possible spallings, and come into contact with the inner side of the tunnel wall even in case of major outcrops. They stay that way perfectly effective and make it possible to constitute additional gutters helping to ensure perfect seal of the joint.

Preferably, each of these wings has a chevron shape in cross section, i.e. comprises two parts of substantially equal width forming an obtuse angle, of the order of 120 °, one by compared to each other.

  • La figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'une partie de la paroi d'un tunnel équipée de ce joint ;
  • For a good understanding, the invention is again described below with reference to the appended diagrammatic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, a preferred embodiment of the joint which it concerns.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of part of the wall of a tunnel equipped with this seal;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of part of the joint, and
  • Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view of the seal inserted in a groove.
  • La figure 1 représente la paroi voûtée 1 d'un tunnel, dans laquelle est aménagée une saignée transversale s'étendant depuis la partie supérieure de cette paroi jusqu'au pied de chacune des parties latérales de celle-ci.Figure 1 shows the vaulted wall 1 of a tunnel, in which a groove is arranged transverse extending from the upper part of this wall to the foot of each of the side parts of it.

This bleeding communicates with arranged boreholes in the surrounding land to form drains, and includes, inserted into it, a profiled seal 2 made of flexible such as rubber. This joint 2 allows to close off the bleeding and delimit, with the bottom thereof, a waterproof conduit for drainage water drainage, this duct opening above an evacuation channel 3 fitted at the foot of the wall 1.

  • As shown more particularly in FIGS. 2 and 3, this joint 2 comprises:
  • a front wall 5, turned towards the inside of the tunnel after fitting the seal 2 in the groove 10,
  • a rear wall 6, facing the bottom of the groove 10 after fitting the seal 2, comprising two triangular lateral protuberances 7 which form, with this wall 6, a gutter,
  • - two side walls 8, comprising three rows of flexible lips 9 intended to be applied elastically against the faces 11 laterally delimiting the groove 10 in order to maintain the seal 2 in it,
  • two lateral wings 15 projecting from said front wall 5, intended to come into abutment against the internal face of the wall 1 when the seal 2 is inserted in the groove 10, and
  • - A central part, delimited by said front 5, rear 6 and side 8 walls, having six internal walls 16 perpendicular to each other, delimiting between them and with said walls 5, 6 and 8 a plurality of longitudinal chambers 17 filled with air.
It appears in the figures that each lip 9 has a rim at its free end longitudinal 19 folded back on the side of said rear wall 6 at an angle of around 90 °.

In addition, the row of lips 9 holding the most close to the front wall 5 is located at a distance of this wall 5 equal to approximately 40% of the width of said central part of the seal, so that the seal is devoid of lips 9 at the level of the nearest veil 16 of this front wall 5.

The lateral wings 15 have, for their part, a width at least equal to half that of this face front 5, and have a chevron shape in section transverse, i.e. each include two parts of substantially equal width forming an angle of 120 ° relative to each other.

Edges 19, thanks to the angled shape and the flexibility of the lips 9, can come tightly apply against the faces 11 and ensure perfect maintaining the seal 2 in the groove 10 whatever possible width variations thereof. Moreover, the lips 9 arrange lateral collection gutters and discharge of water likely to overflow drain 20 of the drained water, so that the joint 2 has a perfect seal.

Le joint 2 ne subit donc aucune contrainte transmise par des lèvres flexibles à hauteur de cette épaufrure, ce qui tendrait à le faire pivoter dans la saignée et à le faire s'échapper hors de celle-ci.Furthermore, thanks to its aforementioned distance from the front face 5, the first row of lips 9 is located set back from a deep spalling, such as that shown in Figure 3, when the seal 2 is engaged in the groove 10. The seal 2 therefore undergoes no stress transmitted by flexible lips up to this spalling, which would tend to rotate it in bleeding and to make it escape out of this one.

It also appears in this figure 3 that the wings 15 ensure a broad covering of possible sprains, and come into contact with the inner side of the wall 1 even in the event of major outcrops. These wings 15 thus make it possible to constitute gutters helping to ensure perfect seal 2.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described above as example but that it embraces, on the contrary, all variant embodiments. So the seal can include more or less than three rows of lips 9 and more or less interior sails 16, according to its dimensions, adapted to those of the groove 10 to be fitted.

The seal according to the invention can be used not only to seal the grooves in the wall of a tunnel, but also possible cracks appearing in them.
