Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electrical connector pair
according to the preamble of
Do you want one for mounting on an electrical circuit board provided first electrical connector with the electrical circuit board by surface mounting, i.e. after an electrical and mechanical connection using an SMT process (solder), this is because the im on the circuit board assembled state of the electrical connector next to the same provided connections or soldering points from practical Reasons are limited in number, more advantageous Formed such that its contacting elements and the associated connection devices (usually soldering sticks, which may be angled) on both sides the circuit board distributed and with the respective surfaces of these PCB sides are connected.
Such an electrical connector is known from EP 0 278 868 B1 known.
The electrical connector described in this document has a central, groove-like recess on the back on which enables the electrical connector over the edge portion of an electrical circuit board push and in this way to ensure that its contacting elements and the associated connection devices distributed on both sides of the electrical circuit board and therefore predictable in a comparatively large total number are.
Because the mentioned recess in the electrical connector advantageously is adapted to the thickness of the circuit board here however the disadvantage that different thicknesses Printed circuit boards using differently trained electrical connector. In addition, the plugging on of an element on the edge of a circuit board Process, which of conventional placement machines for surface mounting cannot be carried out automatically.
To solve this problem, as from EP 0 360 625 A2 is known to be provided the electrical connector not to form in one part, but in two parts, the a connector element on one side of the circuit board, and the other connector element regardless of that on the second side of the circuit board can be arranged.
In this case, however, the electrical connector is relative sensitive to mechanical loads. Because they are Positioning, orientation and / or dimensions of the first electrical connector and / or in contact therewith to be brought or standing second electrical connector when brought into contact or in the state of contact thereof exactly matched, can be electrical at first Connector forces act due to the relative only a weak or resilient SMT connection points Tear it off the circuit board or at least promote.
To solve the problem, the use of so-called Floating connectors are provided, such as from EP-A-0 301 721, EP-A-0 549 960, and US-A-3 673 545 are known. With connectors of this type they are Contacting elements movable relative to the connector housing, so that misalignments can be brought in contact Connect by a corresponding displacement of the contacting elements balance. As from the above Such documents can be seen in printed publications on the other hand, however, has a relatively complicated structure and are accordingly large, which makes them usable is also subject to restrictions.
The present invention is therefore based on the object
an electrical connector pair in the preamble of the
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß durch die im
Patentanspruch 1 beanspruchten Merkmale gelöst.This object is achieved by the
Accordingly, in a generic electrical connector pair it is provided that mutually associated contacting elements the electrical connector is formed in this way are that these are in a direction perpendicular to the contacting direction and one perpendicular to the row alignment direction Transverse direction with a mutual offset of the electrical connector allowing game in contact are, which is many times larger than one in the Line alignment direction intended game.
That is, the contacting elements assigned to one another formed such that contacting and thus also contacting them not only on one more or less point-like point, but over a comparative large, greatly expanded area in the transverse direction can take place or take place.
By providing this feature it can be achieved that when contacting and / or in the contact state of the electrical Connector in the transverse direction of the first electrical connector no or only relatively weak transverse forces work, even if the positioning, the orientation and / or dimensions of the first electrical Connector and / or the second electrical connector deviate significantly from the target values, i.e. with high tolerances are afflicted.
The reduction or the total elimination of in the Acting transverse direction of the first electrical connector Forces usually prove (but not exclusively) to be particularly effective when it is lying on the corresponding one electrical circuit board is mounted, i.e. the Contact direction parallel to the PCB surface runs, and if here the the connection points between the first electrical connector and the electrical Connection area containing the printed circuit board on the printed circuit board down one side of the electrical connector extends, which is opposite from the following as the end face designated side of the first electrical connector is where the contact with the second electrical Connector is manufactured; such an arrangement of the first electrical connector on the electrical circuit board is common for PCB connectors, for example, which the plugging of a first circuit board (e.g. assembly board) on a second circuit board (e.g. rear wall) enable.
The occurrence of a lateral force in a first installed in this way electrical connector works in this case for the connection points as a torsional and / or tensile force, which as a result of the first acting as a relatively long lever electrical connector in the connection area a considerable Take on dimensions and therefore a relatively quick one "Peeling" the SMT connection points off the circuit board can effect.
In addition, the force in the transverse direction of the first electrical connector or the torsion and / or Tensile force on the tolerances causing the connection points positioning, alignment and / or dimensions of the first electrical connector and / or the second electrical Connector in this particular type of arrangement of the first electrical connector on the electrical circuit board add up in a particularly unfavorable manner especially if it is two-part electrical Connector acts, the elements of which are independent opposite surfaces of the circuit board are mounted (first electrical connector) and / or according to the Target arrangement of the (first) electrical to be contacted Spaced on one and the same surface of the connector appropriate circuit board (second electrical Interconnects).
- Tolerances on the thickness and curvature of the circuit board (s),
- Tolerances of the gap formed between the electrical connector and the printed circuit board,
- Tolerances of the positions or mutual distances between the contacting elements and / or the contact openings in the housing of the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector, and
- Tolerances in the positioning and alignment of the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector on the respective printed circuit boards.
The inventive design of the associated contacting elements for large transverse offsets, the sum is itself of the tolerances mentioned and also comparable Impact due to an improper (e.g. oblique or laterally offset) contact so far eliminable that none or the connection points at most negligible torsional and / or tensile forces can arise.
The electrical connector pair according to the invention enables consequently, that this also applies to surface mounting of a or both of the electrical connectors to be contacted on any trained electrical circuit boards reliable and permanent solid and secure connection between ensure the electrical connectors to be connected can.
The enlarged design of the contacting elements only in the one to be particularly observed for reasons of strength and stability Transverse direction also allows the contacting elements unchanged in the row alignment direction to be arranged densely or, if necessary, even in increased density.
Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen der Erfindung sind Gegenstand der Unteransprüche.Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of subclaims.
Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend anhand eines Ausführungsbeispiels
unter Bezugnahme auf die Zeichnung näher erläutert. Es
zeigen
The first electrical connector and the second electrical Connectors are on respective in the present embodiment PCB-mounted PCB connectors.
Zusammenstecken in Kontakt bringbarer Rückwand-Steckverbinder
40. The circuit boards mentioned are an
Der Baugruppen-Steckverbinder 30 und der Rückwand-Steckverbinder
40 repräsentieren das erfindungsgemäße elektrische
Verbinderpaar.The
darauf montierten Rückwand-Steckverbinder 40 in Kontakt
bringbar ist.The
Einheit.The
The rear wall connector provided on the rear wall 20
40 also consists of two halves. The halves are
parallel to each other with one of the thickness of the
aneinandergereihten, relativ kurzen Steckverbinder-Modulen 15
zusammengesetzt.
As can be seen from Figure 1, the respective halves
of the
Der Baugruppen-Steckverbinder 30 ist liegend auf der Baugruppenplatte
10 montiert.
12b der Baugruppenplatte 10.The
The
The
Der Baugruppen-Steckverbinder 30 ist mit der Baugruppenplatte
10 durch Oberflächenmontage bzw. nach einem SMT-Verfahren
verbunden. Er weist hierzu abgewinkelte Lötstiele 33 auf, die
an einer der Stirnseite 31 gegenüberliegenden Rückseite aus
dem Baugruppen-Steckverbinder 30 austreten und in einem hierzu
benachbarten Anschlußbereich der Baugruppenplatte 10 mit
derselben verlötet werden.The
Manufactured by surface mounting or by an SMT process Connections are known to be little resilient and therefore need special attention when designing.
Spiel. Das Spiel in Querrichtung sollte in etwa das
Doppelte des Spiels in Reihenausrichtungsrichtung oder mehr
betragen, kann selbstverständlich aber auch kleiner sein;
Spiels in Reihenausrichtungsrichtung. In order to prevent loosening or destruction of such connections,
is provided in the present embodiment,
the
Die Kontaktfedern des Baugruppen-Steckverbinders 30 und die
jeweils zugeordneten Kontaktmesser 41 des Rückwand-Steckverbinders
40 können daher innerhalb eines relativ groß bemessenen
Bereichs, und zwar an jeder Stelle gleichermaßen gut
(widerstandslos), elektrisch und mechanisch in Kontakt gebracht
und gehalten werden. Durch eine derartige Gestaltung
der Kontaktierungselemente ist ein gegenseitiger Versatz der
in Kontakt zu bringenden Kontaktfedern und Kontaktmesser
(infolge eines nicht zentrierten Zusammensteckens, einer
nicht exakten Montage der Steckverbinder bzw. Steckverbindermodule
The contact springs of the

Alternatively or in addition, the module connector can

The invention has been described above using a printed circuit board connector arrangement described. However, insists no restriction; rather, the invention is in electrical Connectors of any kind can be used, because when they are brought into contact and / or in contact the connectors and / or forces adversely affecting the connection the inventive design of the connector pair avoidable with almost all types of electrical connectors occur.
The first electrical connector (assembly connector 30) is lying on in the exemplary embodiment described a printed circuit board (assembly board 10). Here too there is no restriction; rather, the invention is in a corresponding manner also when standing or in another Way mounted or mountable on a circuit board electrical connectors can be used beneficially because too here when contacting and / or bringing out of contact and / or in contact with a corresponding counterpart forces acting on the electrical connector can, in turn, on the connection points between electrical connector and circuit board as (Avoidable by the design according to the invention) and / or tensile forces act.
