Abstract

The binding has an instep element (3), which partly grips the upper of a snowboard boot (2) and is movably fixed to a snowboard base or chassis. A heel element (4) supporting the back of the snowboard boot is attached to the base and swivels between an open position parallel with the snowboard surface, and a closed position at right angles to it. The snowboard binding has a movable tread element (6) in the tread area of the boot sole, which is hinged to the instep element and to the base element. At least one first (17) and one second (20) tension piece are joined at one end to the free end (11) of the tread element. The tension pieces are connected at their other ends to one side of the back (16) of the instep element and the heel element, respectively. The two tension pieces lead over deflector rollers (21) fixed to a side-plate (5).
