Abstract

A melt-extruded monofilament comprises plastic material with poly-trimethylene terephthalate (PTMT) as the main component. Also claimed is a paper machine cover containing this melt-extruded monofilament. Preferably the material may also contain up to 45 wt.% polyurethane (PU) to increase its abrasion resistance, especially elastomeric PU, and up to 5 wt.% hydrolysis stabiliser. The monofilament has a cross-sectional area of 0.02-3.5 mm<2>, and may have a circular cross-section with a diameter of 0.08-1 mm or a square, rectangular, oval, clover-leaf or dog's bone cross- section.
