Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Erzeugung von beschichteten Strängen aus Metall, insbesondere von Bändern (1) aus Stahl, bei dem ein Metallstrang (1.1) durch den Boden eines Gefäßes (3), gefüllt mit Schmelze (3.3) gleicher oder unterschiedlicher Zusammensetzung wie der Metallstrang (1.1), geführt wird. Die Verweilzeit des Metallstranges (1.1) wird in Abhängigkeit von der Schmelzbadhöhe (3.3.1), der Gießgeschwindigkeit, der Metallstrangdicke und der Vorwärmtemperatur des Metallstranges so gewählt, daß die abgelagerte Schmelze auf dem Metallstrang eine gewünschte Dicke von dem Mehrfachen der Ausgangsdicke des Metallstranges annimmt. Nach Austritt aus dem Schmelzbad (3.3) erfährt der Metallstrang (1.1) mit ankristallisierter Schicht (3.6) einen Glättstich (2). Der Glättstich (2) wird dann vorgenommen, wenn die Oberflächentemperatur des ankristallisierten Stranges (2.6) kleiner als die Solidus-Temperatur des Schmelzbades (3.3) ist und damit zumindest die Oberfläche (1.3) der ankristallisierten Schicht (3.6) erstarrt ist.
