Abstract

A metal component (1) designed to be fixed to a masonry wall (2), e.g. to provide a corner reinforcement before being covered with a rendering material (3) containing a mineral charge (4), has flanges (7, 8) with at least one aperture, and a projecting edge (6) which is coated with a resin (12) containing a mineral charge (13). The resin coating has two undercoats - a bonding undercoat in contact with the metal and containing no mineral charge, and a finishing undercoat with a mineral charge - and it can be applied by spraying or dipping to give a thickness of between 1 and 4 mm. The mineral charge in the rendering and the resin coating is of silica or calcium carbonate in grains of 0.1 to 1 mm, while the metal component is made from galvanised steel or aluminium 0.1 - 2 mm thick.

Description

The invention relates to the field of building. She relates more particularly to metallic elements intended for the execution of parts of external walls of residential buildings.

The exterior walls of a building are generally composed of masonry, for example of concrete blocks, covered with one or two layers plaster. As applied, the coating is a more or less pasty and often colored material. We knows two main types: coatings dandruff, made of a polymeric resin applied in thicknesses of the order of 3 mm, and hydraulic plasters, comprising a binder hydraulic, which are applied in thicknesses generally between 12 and 25 mm. After drying or hardening, the coating makes it possible to obtain walls whose surfaces are regular and uniform, without roughness, roughness or swelling. In addition, the coating imparts waterproofing properties to walls.

The coated exterior walls feature well often metallic elements including a head apparent demarcates an area or a part which differentiates from plaster, not only by its resistance, but also, sometimes, by its form or its color. These are for example ornamental parts protruding, parts in the middle of panels or parts of angles located, in particular, at the intersection walls or at the place of cornices, basements or seals.

The metal elements are installed in at the same time as the coating, before applying one or two coats of plaster, or so after applying a first coat plaster and before applying a second coat. This is the case, in particular, with metal angles that we put to the corner parts. These angles are profiles which comprise, on the one hand, a head which forms the edge of the corner part of the building and, on the other hand, at least one wing, which is affixed against concrete blocks possibly covered with a first layer of plaster, and which is covered with a layer plaster.

These metallic elements protect the edges from dehorns. However, the head of these elements, which is flush with the corners of the walls, not protected against corrosion.

That's the reason we got used to it to clip polyvinyl chloride rods (PVC) on the heads of the metal elements. The protection provided by these PVC rods is certainly effective at least for a while, but PVC can crack or even break due to impact. The water then infiltrates to the metallic part of the element, possibly flows along this metallic part, which ultimately causes its corrosion. Note also that the chopsticks PVC are not aesthetic since their appearance is necessarily significantly different from the appearance of the coating.

Considering the above, a problem that arises proposes to solve the invention is to achieve a impact-resistant element, which does not have risk of oxidation and the appearance of which approaches basically the appearance of the coating.

The solution of the invention consists in coating the head of the metal element with a resin layer containing a mineral filler.

Also, the subject of the invention is an element metallic comprising, on the one hand, a head intended for form a visible part of an exterior surface of a building and, on the other hand, at least one wing having at least one opening and intended to be covered with at least one layer of a coating comprising a mineral filler, characterized in that said head is coated with a layer of a resin comprising a mineral filler.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following exemplary embodiments, given by way of illustration and in no way limitative, and which should be read with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • FIG. 1a shows, in perspective, a metallic element according to the invention, partially covered with a coating;

Elements of the invention are referenced 1 on Figures 1a, 1b, 2, 3 and 4. They are placed, in the embodiment more particularly described in Figures 1a and 1b, at parts of angles 5 of walls building exteriors made of concrete blocks 2 of the masonry on which we have applied one or two layers of a hydraulic coating 3. However, it is understood that the elements of the invention can be laid at the location of a part any surface of a coated exterior wall.

The coating 3 is a mixture of a cement for example Portland cement and a mineral filler, for example silica or calcium carbonate, including grains are referenced 4. It gives a uniform appearance and regular to the exterior walls and gives them waterproof properties. It is applied in a more or less pasty state and is the subject of operations various such as float operations or scraping before drying.

In FIGS. 1a and 1b, the corner part 5 is located at the corner between two walls. However, this corner part can be located at cornices, of bases, at the level of the framing of windows or even purely ornamental reliefs of the surface of the walls. Figure 2 gives an example of a corner part 5 which is not located at the angle between two walls.

Elements 1 consist of a plate folded, profiled or extruded metal, then perforated and shock resistant. These include a galvanized steel or aluminum plate 0.1 to 2 mm approximately, stamped.

The elements 1 have a protruding head 6 and one or two wings 7, 8. Their dimensions are adapted to the corner part of the building. Also, their length often reaches 2 to 3 meters. However, the width of the wings 7, 8 is more restricted, in a example between 2 and 7 cm approximately.

These wings 7, 8 moreover have openings 10 as well as sealing orifices 11. The openings 10 are intended to allow passage the coating 3 which covers the wings 7, 8 so as to maintain element 1. The orifices of sealing 11 are on the other hand intended to receive possibly a nail or a fixing means arbitrary and thus allow the anchoring of element 1 masonry 2.

C'est le cas des têtes des éléments 1 présentés aux figures 2, 3 et 4.The head 6 of the element 1 is flush with the surface of the coated wall. In the example of this description presented in Figures 1a and 1b, it is presented under the shape of a longitudinal edge intended to form the edge of the corner part 5 of the building. However, its shape and dimensions can be any. In particular, the head of the element may be flush with the surface of the walls as it can protrude from said surface. This is the case of the heads of elements 1 shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4.

According to the invention, the head 6 of the element 1 is covered with a resin layer 12 comprising a mineral filler, for example, silica or carbonate of calcium, and therefore showing grains 13 on its surface whose particle size is between 0.01 and 3 mm, more preferably between 0.1 and 1 mm, in practice of the order of 0.5 mm. This layer 12 has a thickness resin between 1 and 4 mm approximately.

Layer 12 can be a single layer having either grains only on the surface or grains on the surface and within layer 12, i.e. grains within layer 12 only. However, as shown in Figures 5a and 5b, it advantageously consists of two sub-layers : a bonding sub-layer 14 and a sub-layer finishing 15. It can be covered with a hydrophobic film which improves its qualities waterproofing.

The sublayer 14 mainly consists of a thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer resin for example acrylic directly in contact with the metal 16 of head 6 of element 1. It is appreciably free of grains which would have the effect to decrease the adhesion of said undercoat 14 to metal.

The underlay 15 likewise consists of a resin thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer, by acrylic example. However, it has grains 13a and 13b of silica which surface on the surface of the head 6 and are therefore visible at the corner part of the building or are drowned within said underlay 15 (grains 13b). It also advantageously comprises a fungicide.

For the application of the resin layer 12 on head 6 of element 1, three operations are carried out prerequisites.

In a first operation, a degreasing and / or removing the metal plate of the element in a phosphoric acid solution. This first operation has the effect of cleaning the surface of the metal of fatty substances or oxides which could be there and thus allow a perfect adhesion of the underlay 14.

In a second operation, the metal plate is rinsed with demineralized water until the acid is completely eliminated from its surface (neutral pH).

Finally, in a third operation, a primary is then projected onto the surface of the metal plate, and in particular on the head of said plate. This primer, which constitutes the sublayer 14, is a resin, for example acrylic in solvent phase.

The above operations are subject to modifications depending in particular on the nature of the metal constituting the element. So, in case the element is not aluminum but steel galvanized, the primer may advantageously be polyurethane.

The following operations are intended to achieve the finishing underlay 15 of element 1, which has an appearance similar to the appearance of the plaster. AT this effect, we will proceed either by projection or by deposit, either by soaking, in solvent phase.

For the application of the underlay 15 by projection, we proceed, in a first mode of realization, in two stages. At first, we projects the advantageously colored acrylic resin on the primer. Then, in a second time, before the constituent polymers of the underlay 15 have polymerized, grains of silica or calcium carbonate on this resin. These grains are then distributed on the surface of said layer which then takes on a grainy appearance. The projection of the silica grains is stopped when the finishing underlay 15 no longer accepts said grains.

Note that the first operations can be implemented independently of operations above mentioned. So the elements of the invention can be marketed with an undercoat 14, the sub-layer 15 remaining to be applied.

In a second embodiment, the resin sprayed acrylic also contains grains of silica or calcium carbonate beforehand mixed with the resin so as to give a paste ready to use.

A complementary projection allows the addition other grains which are mainly placed at the surface of the underlay 15.

Note that a projection or, more generally, a second application of the grains, which results in a distribution of said grains on the surface, gives the element a granular appearance which approximates that of the plaster. However, these grains tend, over time, to detach from the layer 12. This is the reason why it is particularly advantageous that the underlay 15 contains grains which are not only distributed on its surface.

In the case of an application of the undercoat of finish 15 by deposit, each step described above of projection is replaced by a first step of simple deposit then a second step during which applies pressure to the undercoat or the grains of silica deposited. Of course, as in the cases previous, the top coat may or may not does not contain, at the time of its application, the grains silica or calcium carbonate.

In the case of an application of the layer of soaking finish, just soak the part metallic element with its primary hanging in a resin bath and initiating the polymerization of said resin comprising or not not containing, as the case may be, grains of silica or of calcium carbonate which it is always possible to drop or project after.

All of the sub-layers 14 and 15 are then optionally coated with a hydrophobic film.

Of course, the different features described above of the element of the invention and the method of applying the protective layer of said element can be adapted as needed while remaining within the scope of the object of the invention.
