A tool for styling and/or drying the hair, particularly for enhancing the condition or body of or increasing the volume of the hair of the user, for an appliance for personal requirements and through which air flows, particularly for a hair drier or a hot air curling brush, having a main body (2), a backing plate (3) adjoining the end face of the main body (2) and a multiplicity of hair grasping elements (5) of finger-like construction, wherein the hair grasping elements (5) are disposed on a first region (4) of the backing plate (3) and protrude therefrom, characterized in that the backing plate (3) comprises a second region (6) without hair grasping elements (5) which adjoins the first region (4) underneath, and that at least part of the hair grasping elements (5) and at least part of the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) are matched to each other so that when the tool (1) is used the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) is seated at least in part on the user's head, whilst the hair grasping elements (5) are constructed for intervention in the hair and are constructed at least in part for contact with the user's head when the hair grasping elements (5) are disposed substantially tangentially to the user's head.
  2. A tool according to claim 1, characterised in that the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) is substantially matched to the shape of the user's head, namely is curved inwards from one lateral region (7) of the tool (1) to another lateral region (8) and the radius of curvature is preferably between 10 and 40 cm, particularly about 25 cm.
  3. A tool according to claims 1 or 2, characterised in that the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) is angled in relation to the first region (4) of the backing plate (3), and the angle (α) between the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) and the longitudinal axis (L) of the hair grasping elements (5) which are disposed on the first region (4) of the backing plate (3) is preferably between 100° and 140°, particularly about 115°.
  4. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that a multiplicity of air outlet openings (10) is provided in the first region (4) of the backing plate (3) and/or in the second region (6) of the backing plate (3).
  5. A tool according to claim 4, characterised in that the diameter of the air outlet openings (10) increases in an outward direction from the middle of the tool (1) - in the region of the transition (9) from the first region (4) of the backing plate (3) to the second region (6).
  6. A tool according to claims 4 or 5, characterised in that the air outlet openings (10) have the arrangement and construction as regards their diameters which are shown in Figures 7 and 8.
  7. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the surface area of the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) is larger than that of the first region (4).
  8. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the backing plate is (3) of approximately elliptical construction and the first region (4) of the backing plate (3) is of sickle-like construction, and in the central region of the tool (1) the width of the second region (6) of the backing plate (3) is preferably approximately twice as great as the width of the first region (4).
  9. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterised in that two rows (11, 12) of hair grasping elements (5) are provided, with eight hair grasping elements (5) being provided in the first, upper row (11) and with five hair grasping elements (5) being provided in the second, lower row (12).
  10. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterised in that the outer ends of the hair grasping elements (5) are disposed on an imaginary convex line (21, 22) and the point of maximum curvature is preferably situated approximately in the middle of the width of the tool (1).
  11. A tool according to claims 9 or 10, characterised in that the hair grasping elements (5) of each row (11, 12) are disposed on a section of a circular arc, preferably approximately in adaptation to the shape of the user's head.
  12. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 11, characterised in that each hair grasping element (5) has a multiplicity of air outlet openings (13), preferably a plurality of and most preferably three air outlet openings (13), which are distributed over its periphery in the region of its front end (14).
  13. A tool according to claim 12, characterised in that each hair grasping element (5) has at least one, preferably two further air outlet openings (13) distributed over its periphery in its middle to rear region and adjoining the front air outlet openings (13).
  14. A tool according to claims 12 or 13, characterised in that the air outlet openings (13) in the hair grasping elements (5) are of slit-like construction and are preferably aligned approximately in the direction of the longitudinal axis (L) of the hair grasping elements (5).
  15. A tool according to any one of claims 9 to 14, characterised in that the hair grasping elements (5) in the two adjacent rows (11, 12) are disposed offset in relation to each other.
  16. A tool according to any one of claims 9 to 15, characterised in that the distance between adjacent hair grasping elements (5) a row (11, 12) approximately corresponds to the diameter of a hair grasping element (5) in the lower region thereof.
  17. A tool according to any one of claims 9 to 16, characterised in that the front ends (14) of the hair grasping elements (5) of the upper row (11) protrude beyond the front ends (14) of the hair grasping elements (5) of the lower row (12).
  18. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 17, characterised in that the hair grasping elements (5) have a substantially circular cross-section and taper towards their front ends (14).
  19. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 18, characterised in that the main body (2) has a coupling region (15) at its end for coupling to the appliance.
  20. A tool according to any one of claims 1 to 19, characterised in that an air distributor plate (16) is provided behind the backing plate (3) and the air distributor plate (16) is preferably constructed as a baffle plate.
