Abstract

This invention provides a method for producing substantially homogeneous alloy compositions which contain substantially lower melting base metals, such as titanium, and large amounts of refractory metals, such as molybdenum, tantalum, niobium, tungsten. The invention further provides a method for producing titanium base binary master alloys containing substantial amounts of molybdenum, preferably containing about 50% molybdenum with the balance being titanium, which are substantially free of molybdenum inclusions and thus are acceptable for subsequent alloying into final titanium base alloys.
