Abstract

The chair has a pivoting device (24) incorporating a link (26) with two pivot arms (30,31) which face each other and held on a first link point (36,37) on the frame (18) and on a second link point (38,39) on the seat component (12). The chair also has a spring component (28,29) which activates the seat component with an elastic set-back force on pivoting. The link points of the link are arranged trapezoidally and the second link points are positioned approximately on a parallel to the connecting line of the first link points. The link points can form a mirror-symmetrical trapezium or an unsymmetrical trapezium. The spring component acts directly on a pivot arm.

Description

The invention relates to a chair with a frame on which a seat element holding a backrest is pivotally held horizontally and transversely to its longitudinal axis by means of a pivoting device.

Such chairs enable the seat element and the backrest held on it to be tilted or swiveled to relax the seated person by shifting their weight backwards. In order to avoid that the front edge of the seat element rises sharply when pivoting, it is known to shift the pivot axis into the front region of the seat element. However, this has the consequence that the center of gravity of the seated person and the swivel axis of the chair are offset from one another. So that the seat element does not tilt backwards when sitting upright, but only when the seated person shifts his weight in the direction of the backrest, the weight of the seated person is usually balanced by a preloaded spring. A weight balance is only possible if the preload is adjusted to the weight of the seated person. Inadequate adjustment of the pretension of the spring has the consequence that either the seat element tilts backwards even when sitting upright, or that a pivoting movement only occurs when the pretension is overcome with the application of a certain force.

The object of the invention is to design a chair of the generic type so that regardless of the weight of the seated an inclination movement of the seat element only takes place when the seated person shifts his weight backwards.

This object is achieved according to the invention in a chair of the type described at the outset in that the pivoting device comprises a joint with two mutually facing pivot arms, each held at a first articulation point on the frame and at a second articulation point on the seat element, and a the seat element when pivoting with an elastic one Resilient spring element.

The pivotable mounting of the seat element on the frame is thus carried out with the aid of the two pivot arms, which are articulated on the frame and on the seat element and face each other. When sitting upright, the weight of the seated person acts equally on both swivel arms, and since the two swivel arms face each other, the torque caused with respect to the first articulation point of one swivel arm is compensated for by the corresponding torque of the other swivel arm. When sitting upright, the center of gravity of the seated person acts regardless of his weight between the pivot points of the swivel arms, so that there is no inclination movement of the seat element. However, if the seated person shifts his weight towards the backrest, the two swivel arms are loaded unevenly by the fact that the torque acting on the first pivot point of the swivel arm adjacent to the backrest is no longer completely compensated by the torque of the corresponding other swivel arm, so that the seat element tilts backwards from the basic position assumed when sitting upright. In the case of asymmetrical loading of the two swivel arms, the inclination movement takes place independently of the weight of the seated person, an elastic restoring force only being exerted by the spring element during the inclination movement. A preload the spring element in the basic position is not necessary. Regardless of the weight of the seated person, an inclination movement of the seat element only occurs when the seated person shifts his weight backwards.

Accordingly, shifting the weight of the seated person in the direction of the front edge of the chair causes the seat element to tilt forward.

It is expedient to arrange the articulation points of the frame approximately trapezoidal, the second articulation points being positioned approximately on a line parallel to the connecting line of the first articulation points. The swivel arms, which each connect a first articulation point on the frame to a second articulation point on the seat element, thus form the oblique sides of the trapezoid, while the connecting lines of the two first articulation points and the two second articulation points are oriented essentially parallel to one another. This results in a structurally particularly simple and inexpensive to manufacture configuration.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the articulation points form a mirror-symmetrical trapezoid. The length of the two swivel arms thus corresponds. If the seated person exerts an equally large force on both swivel arms, the torques exerted on the first articulation point of the swivel arms are mutually compensated for, so that there is no inclination movement of the seat element. A shift of the weight to the rear results in a symmetrical arrangement of the articulation points as well as an inclination movement of the seat element as a corresponding shift in the weight to the front.

If the seat element is preferably to be inclined in one direction, it is advantageous if the articulation points of the frame form an asymmetrical trapezoid. In this case, the length of the two swivel arms does not match, so that when the two swivel arms are loaded evenly, the corresponding torques are not compensated for but an inclination movement of the seat element takes place. If this is to be prevented, the two swivel arms must be loaded unevenly.

If an inclination movement of the seat element is preferably to be carried out to the rear, it is advantageous if the distance between the articulation points of the swivel arm adjacent to the backrest is greater than the distance between the articulation points of the swivel arm adjacent to a front edge of the chair. When the two swivel arms are loaded evenly, the torque of the swivel arm adjacent to the backrest causes an inclination movement. An upright sitting is also possible, for this the seated person must consciously shift his weight forward and thus apply a greater force to the shorter swivel arm than the longer one. By choosing the relative length of the two swivel arms, it is thus possible to determine the preferred inclination movement of the seat element.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the spring element acts directly on a swivel arm. In this case, the swivel arm not only serves to hold the seat element on the frame, but also transmits the elastic restoring force exerted by the spring element to the seat element.

It is advantageous to assign a spring element to each swivel arm, since this causes the spring element to produce the spring element elastic restoring force is evenly transmitted to the seat element via the swivel arms.

The spring element can be configured, for example, as a torsion spring. This enables a particularly space-saving arrangement of the spring element, for example on the underside of the seat element.

Additional means for holding the spring element on the swivel arm can be avoided in that the spring element is connected in one piece to the swivel arm. This also has the consequence that there is no loss of friction when the elastic restoring force exerted by the spring element is transferred to the swivel arm.

In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention it is provided that the joint is formed in one piece in the form of a U-shaped bracket held on the seat element, the two legs of which are designed as torsion springs, each of which is connected to a pivot arm projecting outwards, the free end of which is parallel is aligned with the legs and forms a pivot pin which plunges into a corresponding bore in the frame. The joint can be formed, for example, from a round bar made of spring steel, which only has to be bent accordingly and, for example, fixed on the underside of the seat element. Such an embodiment is thus particularly inexpensive to manufacture.

The following description of a preferred embodiment of the invention serves in conjunction with the drawing for a more detailed explanation.

In the drawing, a chair 10 is shown, which comprises an approximately horizontally oriented seat element 12, which is bent upward in its rear region opposite the front edge 13 of the chair and integrally merges into a backrest 14 and a seat cushion 16 is arranged on the upper side 15 thereof and a frame 18 with a rectangular frame 19 and chair legs 20 projecting vertically downwards. The frame 19 is formed by longitudinal spars 21 and transverse spars 22 arranged parallel to each other.

A swiveling device 24 is arranged between the seat element 12 and the frame 18, by means of which the seat element 12 can be pivoted horizontally and transversely to its longitudinal axis, ie parallel to the front edge 13 of the chair. The Swivel device 24 is formed by two identical joints 25 and 26, which are fixed in mirror image to each other on the underside 17 of the seat element 12 opposite the upper side 15 and 29 are designed as torsion springs, to which, pivoting outwards and obliquely downwards in the direction of the frame 19 of the frame 18, a swivel arm 30 or 31 connects, the free end of which is aligned parallel to the legs 28, 29 and forms a pivot pin 32 or 33. The two legs 28 and 29 of the U-shaped bracket 27 are integrally connected to one another via a longitudinal strut 34 aligned parallel to the longitudinal direction of the chair. This has the advantage that the legs 28 and 29, which each form a torsion spring, only have to be held immovably, but not non-rotatably, on the underside 17 of the seat element 12, the required rotation lock is provided by the longitudinal strut 34. The immovable holding of the legs 28 and 29 on the underside 17 is carried out with the aid of two retaining tabs 35. The joints 25 and 26 are made of spring steel.

The pivot pins 32 and 33 dip into corresponding blind holes which are arranged on the mutually facing inner sides of the two longitudinal spars 21 and are not shown in the drawing. The pivot pins 32 and 33 thus each form a first articulation point 36 and 37 for the pivotable mounting of the swivel arms 30 and 31 on the frame 18. The second articulation points of the swivel arms 30 and 31 form the transition regions 38 and 39 between the swivel arms 30, 31 and themselves adjoining legs 28 and 29 designed as torsion springs. As is clear from FIG. 4, the articulation points form essentially horizontal at Aligned seat element 12 approximately a trapezoid, the connecting line of the first articulation points 36 and 37 being aligned essentially parallel to the connecting line of the second articulation points 38 and 39, and the swivel arms 30 and 31 forming the oblique sides of the trapezoid.

Here, the seat element 12 assumes an essentially horizontally oriented basic position, since the center of gravity of the seated person, not shown in the drawing, acts between the two second articulation points 38 and 39 of the swivel arms 30 and 31, respectively, and those acting on the first two articulation points 36 and 37 Compensate torques with each other. If the seated person shifts his weight backwards in the direction of the backrest 14, the second pivot point 39 of the pivot arm 31 adjacent to the backrest 14 is thus loaded more than the second pivot point 38 of the pivot arm 30 adjacent to the front edge 13, so that the pivot arm 31 and lower the rear area of the seat element 12 with it while the swivel arm 30 and with it the front area of the seat element 12 rise slightly. Due to the pivoting movement of the pivot arms 30 and 31, a torsional tension and thus an elastic restoring force is produced in the legs 28 and 29 designed as torsion springs, so that the pivot arms 30, 31 are acted upon by a counterforce counteracting the weight of the seated person. This results in a cushioning of the pivoting movement of the pivot arms 30, 31. By shifting the weight of the seated person in the direction of the backrest 14, the seat element 12 thus assumes an overall inclined position as shown in FIG.

If the seated person shifts his weight in the direction of the front edge 13, the seat element 12 assumes a corresponding position, not shown in the drawing, in which the swivel arm 30 moves due to the greater load on the second articulation point 38 due to the weight of the seated person lowers while the back arm 14 adjacent to the backrest 14 is raised slightly. The two joints 25, 26 of the swivel device 24 thus form an overall oscillating suspension of the seat element 12, which assumes a substantially horizontal position regardless of the weight of the seated person, and which can be swiveled forward and backward by shifting the weight. No additional force is required for pivoting, since the legs 28 and 29 designed as torsion springs do not exert any force on the pivot arms 30 or 31 in the basic position of the seat element 12.
