Definitions
- the invention relates to a trimmer resistor, in particular a miniature trimmer resistor according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a trimmer resistor is known from DE 35 00 771 C2.
- This known trimmer resistor has a housing, a resistance support with an applied resistance track and contacts protruding perpendicularly from the resistance support, which are riveted to the resistance support in the form of contact pins.
- This resistor also has a rotary driver for a grinder that contacts the resistance track.
- Trimmer resistors of this type are used where extreme miniaturization is required, for example in hearing aids.
- the object of the invention is to miniaturize the aforementioned trimmer resistor even further.
- the basic idea of the invention is to no longer design the known soldering pins or contacts as separate components to be attached in a separate work step, but rather to integrate them integrally with the resistance carrier and to achieve the electrical conductivity of these contacts by laminating them with electrically conductive material are coated.
- the resistance carrier therefore no longer has to assume a supporting or holding function for the contacts and can therefore be made thinner.
- it consists of a film made of electrically insulating material.
- the contacts protrude perpendicularly from the resistance carrier, they can simply be bent by 90 ° relative to the resistance carrier, since the film of the resistance carrier is flexible.
- the trimmer resistor consists of only five components, namely a housing 1, a rotary driver 2 rotatably mounted therein, which holds a grinder 3, which in turn rests on a resistance carrier 4 and the latter Takes resistance track and its center contact.
- the resistance carrier 4 is also inserted into the housing.
- a closing disc 5 holds the resistance carrier in the housing and closes it.
- the resistance carrier 4 consists of a film made of electrically insulating material, such as Capton, and on the one hand forms a circular disk 6, on which a resistance track 7 is applied, preferably printed using the screen printing method, and a center contact 8 made of electrically conductive material, such as one Copper lamination, and on the other hand from solder contacts 9, 10 and 11, which are integrally connected to the disc 6.
- solder contacts 9, 10 and 11 here have an elongated rectangular shape and are angled at 90 ° with respect to the disk 6. They are made of electrically conductive material coated, for example with a copper cladding and an electroplated gold layer thereon.
- the solder contacts 9, 10 and 11 are offset from one another with respect to the disk 6 by an angle of, for example, 60 °, the solder contacts 9 and 11 being electrically connected to the two ends of the resistance track 7 and the solder contact 10 to the center contact 8.
- the coating or the copper cladding of the solder contacts 9 and 11 therefore extends to the surface of the disk 6, the resistance path 7 having the shape of an open circular ring, the ends of which cover the lamination of the solder contacts 9 and 11 located on the disk 6.
- the lamination made of electrically conductive material of the center contact 8 passes directly into the lamination of the solder contact 10.
- the grinder 3 has the shape of a cross with four legs, a dome-shaped sliding contact 12 or 13 projecting from two legs lying in a line, of which the sliding contact 12 has the center tap of the trimmer Represents resistance, which is in contact with the center contact 8, while the sliding contact 13 represents the wiper tap, which is in contact with the resistance track 7.
- the grinder 3 consists of a resilient, electrically conductive material, such as Copper, steel or an alloy of a contact material, the legs, which do not have wiper contacts, are bent and thus generate contact pressure.
- the grinder 3 is held in recesses 14 and 15 of the rotary driver and rotates with the rotary driver 2.
- the rotary driver 2 has essentially a cylindrical shape and at its end facing the resistance carrier 4 a projecting collar 16, the side facing away from the resistance carrier 4 serves as an axial stop with respect to the housing.
- a projecting collar 16 On this collar 16 is a radial projecting rotation limit stop 17 is placed, which interacts with counter-stops in the housing.
- This cylindrical rotating body 18 projects through an opening 20 of the housing 1, as can best be seen from FIG. 1.
- the end face of the cylindrical rotating body 18 has a step 19 ′ which runs transversely to the slot 19 and is arranged offset with respect to the axis of rotation of the rotating body.
- a reading of the rotational position alone via the slot 19 would be ambiguous, since positions rotated by 180 ° cannot be distinguished from one another.
- the housing 1 has a marking 21 on its outer circumference, which here has the shape of a notch or depression and serves to mark the installation position of the trimmer resistor.
- markings 22 On the top of the housing around the recess 20 there are further markings 22, which here have the shape of circular depressions and serve to identify the type of trimmer resistor, its resistance value or the like. For this purpose, these depressions can be filled with colors according to a color code.
- these markings 22 can read off the rotational position and thus the set value of the trimmer resistance, which results in a double function of the markings 22.
- solder contacts 9, 10 and 11 are angled away from the disk 6, thus protrude from the housing 1 and run parallel to the axis of rotation of the trimmer resistance.
- solder contacts 9 to 11 it is also possible to leave the solder contacts 9 to 11 in the plane of the disk 6, which then gives a trimmer resistor which can be used in SMD technology (surface mounted device).
- Fig. 3 shows different views of the housing 1.
- the housing 1 has the shape of a cylindrical cup, in the bottom of which the opening 20 is present.
- the outer diameter of the housing is 1.9 mm in a specific exemplary embodiment.
- the inwardly offset opening 20 with respect to the cylindrical casing 23 of the housing forms a radially inwardly projecting collar 24, the inwardly facing surface 25 of which forms an axial stop which interacts with the collar 16 of the rotary driver.
- a rotation limit stop 27 protrudes from the inner wall 26 of the casing 23 into the interior of the housing and serves as a counter stop for the rotation limit stop 17 of the rotary driver.
- this rotation limit stop 27 covers an angular range of approximately 64 °.
- a radial extension 28 is provided on the opening side of the housing, which forms a shoulder 29 with the inner wall of the housing, on which the closing disk 5 (FIG. 2) is supported.
- the outside diameter of the closing disc 5 corresponds to the inside diameter of the extension 28.
- axially extending recesses 30, 31 and 32 are provided, which create 1 spaces between the closing disc 5 and the jacket 23 of the housing for the passage of the solder contacts 9, 10 and 11 respectively.
- the depth of these recesses 30 to 32 corresponds to the thickness of the laminated solder legs 9-11, so that the housing is largely sealed together with the closing disk 5.
- FIG. 4A to 4E show different views of the rotary driver 2, FIG. 4A a perspective view similar to FIG. 2, FIG. 4B a section along the line BB of FIG. 4C, FIG. 4C a top view of the top, FIG. 4D a section along the line DD of Fig. 4C and Fig. 4E shows a view of the bottom facing the resistance carrier.
- the essential elements of the rotary driver have already been described in connection with FIG. 2, so that a repetition is not necessary here, the same reference numerals as in FIG. 2 designating identical parts. Only with reference to FIG. 4E are the recesses 14 and 15 for the mounting and rotational driving of the grinder to be explained.
- recesses intersect at right angles, the recess 14 being symmetrical about an axis which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotary driver and crosses it.
- the recess 15, on the other hand, is asymmetrical to the axis of rotation, as a result of which one of the two contacts 12 or 13 then lies exactly in the axis of rotation.
- 5A has the shape of a cross with two pairs of legs 33, 34 and 35, 36, the contacts 12 and 13 being attached to one of the legs 35 and 36, respectively.
- the legs of each pair merge into one another, the legs 33 and 34 being bent (see FIG. 5B).
- These legs 33 and 34 lie in the recess 15 of the rotary driver (FIG. 4E), while the legs 35 and 36 lie in the recess 14.
- One of the contacts 12 or 13 is thus aligned with the axis of rotation of the rotary driver 2 and the bent legs 33 and 34, which are supported on the bottom of the recess 15, press the legs 35 and 36 and their contacts 12, which protrude somewhat from the bottom of the recess 14 and 13 against the resistance carrier or more precisely against the resistance track 7 or the center contact 8. Additional springs for pressing the grinder are not required.
- FIG. 6 shows a film strip 37 made of electrically insulating material, from which resistance carriers are made.
- This film strip 37 has a plurality of transport holes 38 which are arranged offset from one another in a grid dimension. Congruent to this is the disc 6, which is held on the foil strip 37 via three strips, which later form the solder contacts 9, 10, 11, in circular recesses 39.
- These "strips" 9, 10 and 11 are laminated or coated with electrically conductive material, which is indicated by the hatching.
- This coating continues in strips 40, 41 and 42 which run perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the film strip 37 and open into a strip 43 which runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the film strip 37 and which is also continuously coated with electrically conductive material, so that as a result, all strips 9, 10, 11, 40, 41 and 42 are electrically connected to strip 43.
- the stripe pattern shown by the hatching in FIG. 6 is produced, for example, in such a way that a plastic strip initially completely covered with copper is formed by the usual techniques for producing electrical conductor tracks, for example the usual exposure and etching away. Subsequently, all copper claddings that are still standing and are electrically connected can be galvanically coated with another electrically conductive material, e.g. with gold.
- the film strip 37 prepared in this way is then further processed by means of a transport device in cooperation with the transport holes 38 in a punching device, where the strips 9, 10 and 11 of each resistance carrier are punched out at the edge of the respective opening 39. Simultaneously with this punching process, the solder contacts 9, 10, 11 can also be bent out of the plane of the disk 6. This means that part of the production process can run fully automatically, and further assembly steps can also be automated.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a trimmer resistor, in particular a miniature trimmer resistor according to the preamble of
Trimmer resistors of this type are used where extreme miniaturization is required, for example in hearing aids.
In the case of the trimmer resistor mentioned at the outset, there is still a limit to the miniaturization by the contact pins riveted to the resistance carrier, since on the one hand the resistance carrier designed as a plate must have a minimum thickness in order to ensure sufficient holding and support function for the riveted contact pins and since, on the other hand, the rivet area must not be less than a minimum size for reasons of good, ie small, electrical contact resistance.
The object of the invention is to miniaturize the aforementioned trimmer resistor even further.
This object is achieved by the features specified in
The basic idea of the invention is to no longer design the known soldering pins or contacts as separate components to be attached in a separate work step, but rather to integrate them integrally with the resistance carrier and to achieve the electrical conductivity of these contacts by laminating them with electrically conductive material are coated.
The resistance carrier therefore no longer has to assume a supporting or holding function for the contacts and can therefore be made thinner. Here it consists of a film made of electrically insulating material.
If, as is provided in a preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention, the contacts protrude perpendicularly from the resistance carrier, they can simply be bent by 90 ° relative to the resistance carrier, since the film of the resistance carrier is flexible.

As can best be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the trimmer resistor consists of only five components, namely a
In plan view (see FIG. 5A), the
The
The
In the exemplary embodiment shown, the
Fig. 3 zeigt verschiedene Ansichten des Gehäuses 1.
In this
Fig. 5B). Zusätzliche Federn zum Andrücken des Schleifers werden damit nicht benötigt.5A has the shape of a cross with two pairs of
The stripe pattern shown by the hatching in FIG. 6 is produced, for example, in such a way that a plastic strip initially completely covered with copper is formed by the usual techniques for producing electrical conductor tracks, for example the usual exposure and etching away. Subsequently, all copper claddings that are still standing and are electrically connected can be galvanically coated with another electrically conductive material, e.g. with gold. The
