Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device designed to allow the disconnectable connection of two parts according to a non-circular contour, such as an oval contour.
  • the invention applies to all cases where it is desired to be able to couple and uncoupled two parts according to a contour of non-circular shape, for example of oval shape. It can in particular be used to connect a door to an oval opening formed in a confinement enclosure or in a container. It can also be used to connect an enclosure door and a container door to each other when the latter has itself been connected to the enclosure. In addition, the invention also makes it possible to connect the container to the enclosure.
  • the enclosure as well as the container usually have circular openings delimited by flanges and normally closed by doors. Each of the doors cooperates with the flange which corresponds to it by a disconnectable connection device.
  • a disconnectable connection device is also provided between the container flange and the enclosure flange, as well as between the container door and the enclosure door.
  • This known arrangement makes it possible, firstly, to connect the flange of the container to the flange of the enclosure, then to successively control, from inside the enclosure, the coupling of the two doors then their disconnection from their flange respective.
  • the invention specifically relates to a disconnectable connection device whose original design allows it to connect two parts in a shape other than circular contour using a mobile control ring of the same shape.
  • this result is obtained by means of a disconnectable connection device for two parts along a closed contour, this device comprising a crown conforming to the contour and supported by a first of the parts, so as to being able to move along this contour between two extreme positions, and connecting means interposed between the crown and the second part and capable of occupying a locking state and an unlocking state, when the crown occupies said exctreme positions, characterized by the fact that the contour is non-circular and by the fact that the crown comprises at least three segments matching said contour and connecting pieces connecting the segments end to end while ensuring a spacing between the adjacent ends of the consecutive segments.
  • each of the connecting pieces is articulated on the adjacent ends of two consecutive segments by two axes separated by the same distance.
  • only the segments of the crown are connected to the first part by connecting and guiding means along said closed non-circular contour.
  • connecting and guiding means then comprise at least one series of grooves along the closed non-circular contour, formed in the segments of the crown.
  • the connecting and guiding means may in particular comprise two series of grooves along the closed non-circular contour, the sides of which are respectively oriented perpendicular and parallel to the plane of the contour.
  • the guide means also include two sets of rollers carried by the first part and received respectively in each of the series of grooves, to cooperate with their sides.
  • connection device can in particular be used to connect a door on a flange delimiting an opening formed in a wall, according to the non-circular contour.
  • the device according to the invention can also be used to connect two doors normally closing openings delimited by flanges respectively in the wall of an enclosure and in the wall of a container, according to the abovementioned contour.
  • the device according to the invention can also be used to connect two flanges delimiting openings normally closed by doors, respectively in the wall of an enclosure and in the wall of a container, according to the abovementioned outline.
  • the contour and the crown are in the shape of an oval, the crown comprising two first segments in an arc of a relatively large diameter and two second segments in an arc of a relatively small diameter, connected end to end, alternately, by four connecting pieces.
  • FIGS. 1A and 1B a crown 10 has been shown in two different positions designed to be used, in accordance with the invention, in a disconnectable connection device making it possible to connect two parts according to an oval contour.
  • This crown 10 itself has the shape of an oval similar or identical to the oval defined by the outline of the two parts.
  • the crown 10 comprises two first segments 12 in an arc, identical to one another and two second segments 14 in an arc, also identical to each other.
  • the first segments 12 and the second segments 14 are placed end to end and alternately, so as to have the abovementioned oval shape.
  • each of the first two segments 12 of the crown 10 has a relatively large diameter which corresponds to the large diameter of the large diameter sections of the oval. However, their angular length is less than the angular length of the corresponding sections of the oval.
  • the second segments 14 of the crown 10 have a relatively small diameter which corresponds to the small diameter of the corresponding sections of the abovementioned oval.
  • the angular length of these second segments 14 is also less than the angular length of the corresponding sections of the oval.
  • the adjacent ends of the first segments 12 and of the second segments 14 are all spaced apart as illustrated in Figures 1A and 1B.
  • the crown 10 is completed by four connecting pieces 16, illustrated in broken lines in FIGS. 1A and 1B.
  • these connecting pieces 16 are rectilinear. They can however take a slightly different form, without departing from the scope of the invention.
  • Each of the connecting pieces 16 is articulated at the adjacent ends of the segments 12 and 14 by axes 18 oriented perpendicular to the plane of the ellipse.
  • the distance d between the two axes 18 of a connecting piece 16 is identical for the four pieces 16.
  • the crown 10 can rotate on itself along a trajectory coincident with its outline in the shape of an oval. The course of this movement is determined by the distance d which separates the adjacent ends of the sections 12 and 14 forming the crown 10.
  • a first end of each of the segments 12 and 14 is merged with the end of the corresponding sections of the oval, while the opposite end of each of the segments 12 and 14 is distant from the second end of these sections. From this first position, it is possible to rotate each of the segments 12 and 14 towards the second end of the sections of the oval, by a determined maximum angle.
  • the second extreme position illustrated in FIG. 1B is then reached. A rotation of the crown 10 in the opposite direction over the same distance is then possible.
  • the crown 10 When it is integrated in a disconnectable connection device according to the invention, the crown 10 is mounted on a first part P1, so as to be able to move relative to this part in the manner which has just been described in referring to Figures 1A and 1B.
  • connecting and guiding means making it possible both to maintain the connection between the crown and the part and to guide the movement of the crown in rotation according to the trajectory defined by the oval. Examples of embodiment of these connecting and guiding means will be described below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4.
  • the crown 10 cooperates with a second part (not shown) by bayonet connection means, the production of which will be explained below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4.
  • Figures 2 and 3 show an application of the disconnectable connection device according to the invention to the connection of a cell door P1 on a cell flange B1 defining an oval-shaped opening in the wall 20 of a sealed confinement cell.
  • the cell door P1 constitutes the first part on which the crown 10 is mounted. It is produced, as described previously with reference to FIGS. 1A and 1B, by the assembly of two first segments 12 and of two second segments 14 using connecting pieces 16 articulated at the ends of the adjacent segments.
  • the connecting and guiding means by which the crown 10 is mounted on the cell door P1 include grooves 22 (FIG. 3) in the shape of an oval, formed in the segments 12 and 14 of the crown 10, on the face of these segments facing door P1.
  • the sides of these grooves 22 are oriented perpendicular to the plane of the oval-shaped outline which the crown must follow during its movement, and parallel to this outline.
  • the connecting and guiding means further comprise rollers 24 which are received in the grooves 22 and whose axes are fixed on the face of the door P1 carrying the crown 10. More precisely, the axes of the rollers 24 are parallel to the sides grooves 22, so that the rollers are in contact against these sides. Guiding of the crown 10 on the door P1, according to the oval trajectory defined previously is thus ensured.
  • the connecting and guiding means further comprise rollers 26 whose axes are carried by the segments 12 and 14 of the crown 10 by projecting radially towards the outside relative to the latter. These rollers 26 pass through slots 28 formed in a peripheral peripheral rim of the door P1 surrounding the crown 10. This arrangement makes it possible to maintain the connection between the crown 10 and the door P1 without preventing the rotation of the crown relative to the door.
  • rollers 26 project outwards beyond the slots 28, to constitute one of the parts of the bayonet connection means by which the ring 10 cooperates with the cell flange B1.
  • the ends of the rollers 26 which protrude beyond the slots 28 are received in open notches 30 formed in a peripheral edge of the flange B1 surrounding the external peripheral rim of the door P1 in which the slots 28 are formed.
  • an articulated arm 32 permanently connects the door P1 to the flange B1. Thanks to this articulated arm, when the connection device according to the invention is disconnected, it is possible to tilt the door P1 inside the cell to completely release the oval-shaped opening delimited by the flange B1.
  • the embodiment illustrated in Figure 2 shows a double-acting cylinder 34, mounted on the door P1, so as to control the pivoting of the crown 10 in both directions.
  • the body of the jack 34 is fixed on the face of the door P1 turned towards the interior of the confinement cell, while the piston of the jack is articulated with play on a lever 36.
  • This lever 36 is itself pivotally mounted in the center of the face of the door P1 facing the interior of the cell and each of its ends is engaged by an articulated link 38 with play, on one of the first segments 12 of the crown 10. More precisely, the lever 36 acts approximately at the center of each of the segments 12 by the connections 38.
  • FIG. 3 the device which has just been described, for ensuring the disconnectable connection of the cell door P1 on the cell flange B1, is shown integrated into a sealed double door transfer device, by means of which different products and devices can be transferred between the containment cell and a container through an oval opening.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates the case where the connection of the container door P2 to the container flange B2, the connection of the container flange B2 to the cell flange B1 and the connection of the container door P2 on the cell door P1 are all made by means of disconnectable connection devices according to the invention. It will however be understood that at least one of these devices, such as that which connects the container flange B2 to the flange of cell B1, can be produced differently, without departing from the scope of the invention.
  • the container door P2 supports, on its face turned towards the interior of the container, a ring 10.1 produced completely in the same way as the ring 10 mounted on the cell door P1.
  • the movements of the crown 10.1 mounted on the container door P2 are controlled by connecting and guiding means which include, as before, means making it possible to ensure the connection between the crown and the door and means making it possible to guide the crown in its rotation.
  • rollers 26.1 whose axes are carried by a part of the container door P2 placed inside the crown 10.1 and which project radially outwards with respect to this part of the door.
  • the rollers 26.1 are received in grooves 28.1 machined on the faces facing inwards of the first and second segments of the crown 10.1.
  • the sides of the grooves 28.1 are oriented parallel to the plane of the oval-shaped outline. Consequently, the cooperation of the rollers 26.1 with the sides of the grooves 28.1 ensures the connection between the crown 10 and the container door P2.
  • these connecting and guiding means comprise grooves 22.1 formed on the faces of the first and second segments of the crown 10.1 facing towards the door. container P2, as well as rollers 24.1, received in these grooves 22.1 and whose axes are fixed on the face of the container door P2 facing the interior of the container.
  • These rollers 24.1 are therefore supported on the sides of the grooves 22.1 and thus guide the rotational movement of the crown 10.1 on the container door P2, along an oval path.
  • the bayonet connection means which are provided between the crown 10.1 and the container flange B2 to allow the connection and disconnection of the container door P2 include complementary tabs 40.1 and 42.1 formed respectively on the outer surface of the first and second segments of the crown 10.1 and on the inner surface of the flange B2.
  • connection device The structure of the connection device provided in the example of FIG. 3 between the doors P1 and P2 is completely similar to that which has just been described for ensuring the connection of the door P2 on the container flange B2. It will therefore not be described in detail. It will simply be noted here that this connection device comprises a crown 10.2, oval and rotary carried in this case by the face of the cell door P1 turned towards the outside of the cell, and the construction of which is identical to that of the crowns 10 and 10.1 previously described. The same is true of the connecting and guiding means which connect the crown 10.2 to the cell door P1.
  • Each of these mechanisms 44 comprises an axis 46 which passes in leaktight manner through the cell door P1, inside one of the first segments 12 of the rings 10 and 10.2 mounted on each of the faces of the cell door. At its ends, the axis 46 supports two pinions 48, 48.2, which mesh respectively on racks 50, 50.2 formed inside the corresponding segment 12.
  • each of the mechanisms 44 also comprises a second axis 52 passing in leaktight manner through the container door P2.
  • the second axis 52 is automatically aligned with the axis 46 passing through the cell door P1.
  • dog clutch means provided on the opposite ends of the axes 46 and 52, automatically engage.
  • the axis 52 supports a pinion 48.1.
  • This pinion 48.1 is engaged on a rack 50.1 formed inside the first segment 12 of the crown 10.1.
  • the implementation of the jack 34 makes it possible to simultaneously control the rotation of the crowns 10, 10.2 and 10.1.
  • the double door sealed transfer device illustrated in FIG. 3 comprises a fourth disconnectable connection device according to the invention, located between the flanges B1 and B2.
  • This fourth disconnectable connection device is made in the same way as the previous ones, so that a detailed description will not be made. It will simply be indicated here that it also includes a crown 10.3, rotatably supported by the face of the cell flange B1 facing outwards.
  • This crown 10.3 is produced in accordance with the invention in the manner which has been described previously with reference to FIGS. 1A and 1B. It cooperates directly with the container flange B2 by means of bayonet connection of conventional design. In addition, it is mounted on the cell flange B1 by connecting and guiding means similar to those by which the crown 10.1 is mounted on the container door P2.
  • the rotation of the crown 10.3 is advantageously controlled separately by a jack 56 mounted on the cell flange B1 and of which only the outline is illustrated in dashed lines in FIG. 3.
  • the latter advantageously supports, on its face turned outwards, centering pins 58 whose frustoconical ends project beyond the crown 10.3 .
  • the ends of these centering fingers 58 penetrate into suitable notches formed on the end of the flange B2.
  • connection device according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in a sealed double door transfer device, it can also be used in other fields, and in particular for connecting oval section pipes.
  • the oval shape of the outline of the oval connection device described is not limiting and includes the case where the first segments of the crown have an infinite diameter, that is to say where these first segments are rectilinear .
  • the outline of the connection device according to the invention can also take more diverse forms such as: triangular, square, polygonal, etc., the crown being formed of at least three straight segments or in an arc of circles , connected end to end by articulated connecting pieces, so that all the segments can slide simultaneously between the locking and unlocking positions of the connection means.
