Description

Die Erfindung betrifft einen elektrischen Steckverbinder gemäß den Merkmalen des Oberbegriffes des Anspruch 1.The invention relates to an electrical connector according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.

Such a connector is already described in DE-A 91 00 441 been. There are already rows that can be lined up Contact modules shown surrounded by a housing are. The individual contact modules are locked to each other. In particular, snap beads are on the narrow end faces the contact modules used, which snap into associated grooves. The housing itself, in turn, points orthogonally locking ledges running the catch beads or indentations on. In addition, are on an inner wall of the surrounding housing Spacer bars are provided between the latching bars intervention. Overall, this well-known connector stands out due to a relatively complicated structure out. Pushing the individual contact modules and insertion in the same direction in the housing is also not possible with this connector.

From EP 02 10 468 is a connector with contact elements become known, which with a insulation displacement contact points for a flat cable with a conductor connection part are snapped into chambers of an insulating strip, which is only open towards one flat side of the strip are so that a conductor from the open side of the chambers into the contact slots of the insulation displacement contact points can be pushed in. This is a design with multi-row arranged contact elements allows at which the conductor connection only after inserting the contact elements into the insulating strips and their connection herewith can be done. However, a contact element, whether connected to a conductor or not the insulation strip fall out, so that the assembly this connector special care and appropriate Precautions are required to avoid any errors.

Another connector with a housing into which one Contact housing with contact chambers arranged side by side is insertable for receiving contact elements, is from the DE 35 37 722 A1 known. In the contact housings known from this is used to secure the position of the contact chambers Contact elements in the associated housing Intermediate web attached, on which a securing edge is formed is when inserting the contact housing into the Protective housing protrudes into each contact chamber and thereby engages behind an edge of the contact elements. Hereby a multi-row connector can be created, so the result from those required between each row Intermediate webs a space requirement that leads to unfavorable dimensions the connector designed in this way.

Based on this state of the art, it is the task of present invention, a connector of the aforementioned Kind to improve that with small dimensions the requirements for adequate insulation, light Assembly or assembly and safe handling be fulfilled.

According to the invention this object is achieved by the characterizing Features of claim 1. In Fig. 1, a connector 10 according to the invention with a Housing 12 shown, in which housing 12 one of Side walls 14 limited space 16 with guides 18 for one Contact housing 20 is provided, which with it Longitudinal extension is used so that only one side can be seen is.

The guides 18 can on the one hand as a position securing for the Serve contact housing with regard to its predetermined position and on the other hand, to prevent confusion, to prevent incorrect connection and this causes possible wrong polarity prevent. For this reason, the guides 18, 19 are open one side formed as a protruding hook 18, which in engage compatible recesses 19 in the contact housing 20, which on the opposite side as well has protruding hooks 18, which are compatible with the recesses 19 in the other side wall 14 of the surrounding housing 12 intervention.

Consider those shown in Figs. 4 to 6 or 8 to 10 Connector 10, it can be seen that the hook 18th and recesses 19 have yet another function, namely the form-fitting coupling of individual contact housings 20 to ensure an assembly unit. this function is also the fundamental teaching for the present invention. Unlike in the case of connectors known in the prior art, whose design usually separates the provides for individual functions and for those, as already mentioned at the beginning explained, complete housing for recording and securing of contacts are not provided, but instead in Connector housing arranged strips and the like, are Contact housing 20 according to the present invention complete with all the necessary details. Not only, that individual contact chambers 22 are arranged side by side and are firmly insulated from each other by partitions, but the fuse of the introduced lines 24 is in the Contact housings 20 or in the contact chambers 22 integrated. These are rest areas with Work together on the provided tabs the respective ends of the inserted into the contact chambers 22 Lines 24 are connected. Thereby, according to the invention Contact chamber 20 the mentioned locking surfaces formed as a window 28 which can be seen in Fig. 3 and in which engage the retaining tongues not shown here.

In the interior 16 is located above the housing 12 inserted contact housing 20 an open space 17, which serves as a cable room. Find out about the individual in Fig. 3 recognizable in the partial breakout 21 as an example Contact chambers 22 guided lines 24 place without the This affects handling of the respective contact chamber 20 is. The contact chambers 22 extend over the total height of the contact chamber and are each through side walls 26 separated from each other, so that the introduced therein with corresponding not shown here Contact plugs or insulation displacement contacts provided cables 24 adequately separated and isolated from each other are.

In den Fig. 4 bis 6 ist jeweils ein Steckverbinder in Seitenansicht dargestellt, wobei der einzige Unterschied gegenüber der in Fig. 1 gezeigten Abbildung darin besteht, daß hier jeweils ein einzelnes Kontaktgehäuse 20 hinzukommt, das heißt in Fig. 4 sind zwei einzelne Kontaktgehäuse 20, in Fig. 5 sind drei einzelne Kontaktgehäuse 20 und in Fig. 6 sind schließlich vier einzelne Kontaktgehäuse 20 vorgesehen, die jedoch unter Anwendung der erfindungsgemäß vorgesehenen formschlüssig wirksamen Verklammerung der einzelnen Kontaktgehäuse 20 jeweils eine einzige Montageeinheit bilden und so deren Handhabung beträchtlich erleichtern.4 to 6 is a connector in side view shown, with the only difference compared the figure shown in Fig. 1 is that here each a single contact housing 20 is added, that is 4 shows two individual contact housings 20, in FIG. 5 are three individual contact housings 20 and in Fig. 6 are finally provided four individual contact housings 20 which however, using the form-fitting provided according to the invention effective clamping of the individual contact housings 20 each form a single assembly unit and so their Make handling considerably easier.

Dabei besitzen die Kontaktkammern 24 der ersten Reihe jeweils mit den Kontaktkammern 24 der zweiten Reihe eine gemeinsame Rückwand.7 to 8 connectors are also shown, which, however, differs from those described since then Connectors 10 through a differently designed housing 13th with other contact housings 20, in particular by a different designed, so-called twin housing 30 differentiate. Facing the individual contact housings 20 the twin housing 30 is not shown here in detail Double-row arrangement of the contact chambers 24, their geometry with which identically coincides with individual contact housings 20. The contact chambers 24 have the first Row each with the contact chambers 24 of the second row one common back wall.

Another, more apparent from the illustration in FIGS. 7 to 10 Difference compared to those treated in FIGS. 1 to 6 the twin housings have individual contact chambers 30 as a safety or guiding device no hooks 18, but arranged on both long sides, to the hook 18 compatible indentations 19. That is also the case housing 13 provided for accommodating the twin housing 30 designed differently by on both sides of the side walls 14 the inside hooks 18 are formed, which in the indentations engage in a form-fitting manner on the twin housing 30.
