Definitions
- the invention relates to a video reception apparatus and more particularly to a system for controlling the adjustment of the reception channels of a receiver relative to the reception channels of another receiver. It is particularly applicable to the adjustment servo of a video recorder on a television receiver.
- the invention provides for using the television receiver to choose the channel (and so the channel) to record and set the VCR to the chosen channel on the television receiver.
- European patent application EP 0618 721 A2 describes a video recorder provided with a reception circuit capable of being tuned on several reception channels and connected to a television receiver capable of also being tuned on several reception channels. Once tuned to a given channel, the television receiver displays the video signals and outputs the audio signals received while transmitting them to the VCR. The latter also comprises a circuit for comparing at least one component of the signal received directly by the video recorder with the corresponding component of the signal transmitted by the radio receiver. television audit video recorder.
- Said comparison circuit being adapted to supply equality signals in the event of agreement of the two apparatuses on the same channel and inequality signals in the opposite case thus causing a search, by the video recorder, of the channel received by the receiver of TV.
- Such a device operating in a completely transparent manner, does not allow the user to check whether the video recorder is actually tuned on the same channel as the television receiver.
- the object of the invention is to allow the user to carry out such verifications without disturbing the television reception apparatus and thus constitutes a significant improvement of the device described in application EP 0 618 721 A2.
- the invention therefore relates to a video reception device A comprising a circuit for receiving first video signals from a remote transmitter, a circuit for receiving second video signals from another TVS video reception device, a search circuit automatic transmission channel, a phase comparison circuit of the vertical synchronization signals of the first video signals and vertical synchronization signals of the second video signals and delivering a phase shift signal to control the operation of the automatic search circuit of transmission channels , characterized in that it further comprises a CC control circuit making it possible to display, for a predetermined time on the reception apparatus (TVS), the video signals received on the reception apparatus VCR.
- TVS reception apparatus
- control circuit comprises a timing circuit (TIME) controlled by the central control unit as soon as it is informed of the detection of a phase agreement between signals of vertical synchronization and which controls for a determined time, the transmission to the other video reception device (TVS), of the video signals which it receives as well as a signal (PIN8) indicating to this other device to display these video signals .
- TIME timing circuit
- one of the devices has circuits making it possible to carry out such a check.
- the TVS device is a television receiver; it is tuned to a specific channel and receives a broadcast from its tuner TU2.
- the reception device A is a VCR recording device (video recorder) and the user wishes to record the program which he is watching on the TVS receiver.
- This VCR device has a TV reception circuit or
- TUNER TU1 including an automatic search circuit for reception channels.
- a central control unit CPU controls the automatic search of the TUNER TU1 and manages the general operation of the video recorder.
- the circuit TU1 receives, by antenna for example, the video signals VD1 and transmits them to a circuit for detecting vertical synchronization signals VSD1.
- the TVS receiver transmits the video signals it receives to the video recorder by a cable such as a scart cable. These video signals are received by another circuit for detecting vertical synchronization signals VSD2.
- the instants of detection of the vertical synchronization signals are signaled by the detection circuits VSD1 and VSD2 to a phase comparator PC. If the synchronization signals detected by the circuits VSD1 and VSD2 are not in phase, this means that the reception channel of the VCR VCR is not the same as that to which the television receiver TVS is tuned.
- the phase comparator PC supplies a phase shift signal to the central control unit CPU which controls the automatic search for another channel in the VCR VCR (see diagram in FIG. 4).
- the PC circuit supplies a phase signal to the central control unit CPU, which then knows that the VCR VCR is tuned on the same channel as the TVS receiver. This system runs continuously to detect a possible change of chain.
- the control unit CPU is then ready to receive from the user a recording order, an operation in recording mode for example.
- the system of the invention can be used to program the VCR VCR, that is to say to fill in the correspondence table for the programs which must give, for each operated program key, the corresponding reception channel.
- the TVS receiver being programmed, for each program (channel) displayed on the TVS receiver, the central control unit CPU of the video recorder is controlled in programming mode and it is given a first program number.
- This microprocessor CPU controls the automatic channel search until finding a vertical synchronization signal of the video signal it receives from the antenna in phase with a vertical synchronization signal of the video signal it receives from the TVS receiver. When it detects two synchronization signals in phase, this means that the VCR is tuned to the same channel as the TVS receiver. He then advises the unit central control unit CPU, which stores the channel number and the program number in a program memory.
- the user can then change the program (and therefore in principle the channel) on his TVS receiver. It returns a command to the central control unit CPU in programming mode and provides a second program number.
- the automatic channel search circuit searches for the same channel as that received by the TVS receiver and the associated control unit displays, in program memory, the channel number found at the second program number, and so on.
- a CC control circuit as shown in FIG. 2 including a TIMER circuit is provided. which is activated either by an ENR signal (in recording mode) or by a PRG signal (in programming mode), and which for a determined time (a few seconds, for example) controls (by closing contact C1) the transmission on the scart cable to the TVS receiver of video signals received by the VCR.
- FIG. 3 represents a flowchart explaining the operation of the system described according to which a copy of the program memory of a receiver, TVS for example, is made in another receiver such as VCR.
- the user selects the first program on the TVS receiver and triggers the programming operation of the VCR receiver (programming).
- the system searches the VCR receiver for reception of the same channel as the TVS receiver and compares the phases of the vertical synchronization signals of the video signals received by the two devices. As long as the phase match is not detected, the system is looped on this search after advancing to the next channel. When a phase match is detected, the channel number is stored with the program number. Information is provided to the user to indicate that the program has been stored. The user can stop programming or continue by selecting the next program on the TVS receiver. He then orders programming again and so on. In the description, the invention has been explained by considering the case of a video recorder and a television receiver, but one could have considered any other type of device capable of receiving video broadcasts.
