Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for conditioning industrial and municipal sludges, in particular sewage sludge that can be used for agriculture, by adding calcium-containing products.
In the treatment and purification of municipal and industrial wastewater, sewage sludge is produced in addition to the sand trap. Depending on the respective discharges of the wastewater into the sewage treatment plant, a wide variety of nutrients but also pollutants can be found in the sewage sludge.
This is the cause of the recycling, e.g. in agriculture, emerging environmental and acceptance problems.
For this reason, alternative disposal methods such as composting, recultivation, landfill, incineration or gasification are also used. In most cases it is necessary to increase the dry matter content of the sewage sludge by mechanical dewatering, adding suitable additives or even by thermal drying.
Continuous and discontinuous dewatering processes are used in the dewatering of sewage sludge. It is known that suitable additives can or must be used to improve drainability. On the one hand, these can be polymeric flocculants, which have been used increasingly for several years, or on the other hand, mineral additives based on calcium, possibly combined with iron salts. The lime used is usually in shape of calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide (e.g. white fine lime or white lime hydrate) processed into a suspension and added to the pre-thickened sewage sludge. Furthermore, carbide sludge is used, for example, which is obtained in the chemical industry as a by-product in the production of acetylene as a pumpable product and can be used accordingly.
From DE 37 33 532 it is known to partially dewater a sewage sludge obtained in the wastewater treatment after conditioning with at least one calcium-containing waste product containing calcium sulfate and / or calcium sulfite, calcium oxide and fly ash and to feed this product as fuel to the combustion unit of a waste incineration plant, SO being simultaneously 2 is removed from the combustion gases.
In the sewage sludge and fluidized bed ash used there, no attention was paid to how much fly ash was contained therein. The example mentions a product which contained approx. 40% by weight of fly ash. Such products are certainly not usable for agriculture.
The object of the invention is to substitute the mineral raw materials containing calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide with suitable pulverulent secondary products. In particular, products should be used which are to be recycled in accordance with the circular economy and in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act in order to conserve raw material resources in this way. When using these products, it must be ensured that the sewage sludge is at least comparatively well dewatered and that when the sewage sludge conditioned in this way is disposed of there are no restrictions with regard to the possible uses, for example in material recycling. In particular, the products should be usable for agriculture stay.
This object can now be achieved in that lime-rich by-products from the flue gas cleaning of industrial furnaces and power plants which contain less than 5% by weight of fly ash are used as conditioning agents, whereupon mechanical dewatering is carried out.
In particular, if the product cannot be immediately used for agriculture, it can be dried after mechanical dewatering. This creates storable, spreadable products that can be used at any time.
The process product not only has a lime content but also a grain spectrum that is comparable to the conditioning aids used previously. According to the invention, lime-rich by-products from desulfurization plants of industrial furnaces and power plants are therefore initially used, which are obtained dry. When comparing the analyzes of the raw materials used up to now with the analyzes of the available by-products with regard to the lime content and the grain distribution, it often shows that by adding other suitable residues, e.g. Fluid bed ash or other granular residues, the desired properties can be set. Likewise, fluidized bed ash, which is known to contain a significant proportion of free lime but also fly ash, can optionally be processed with other granular residues to form mixtures which have a suitable grain spectrum and nevertheless contain less than 5% by weight of fly ash. Of course, it should be noted that all products used are low in pollutants and that the addition of these conditioning aids does not increase the pollutant loads naturally contained in the sewage sludge so that the conditioned sludges can no longer be used or can only be used to a limited extent.
Vorzugsweise liegt das Mischungsverhältnis ungefähr bei 3:1.Surprisingly, with appropriate conditioning attempts shown that a dewatering aid prepared in this way has properties that are at least as good as, for example, carbide sludge or even have clear advantages over this product, for example in relation to the pressing time required for mechanical dewatering on chamber filter presses. Mixing ratios of dry matter of the sewage sludge to conditioning agent of 2: 1 to 5: 1 have proven to be well suited. The mixing ratio is preferably approximately 3: 1.
In the agricultural application of the sewage sludge conditioned in this way, in addition to hygienization, an additional improvement in the fertilizing properties is achieved by increasing the CaO and sulfate content (with low solubility and delayed release).
For an additional increase in the dry matter content after dewatering or pressing sludges, the by-products mentioned can also be added later and incorporated using commercially available mixers.
If thermal drying is provided as a second process step after the mechanical dewatering, an improved detackification of the sewage sludge can be observed due to the mineral components added. The drying of the sludge conditioned in this way can thus be carried out with less effort.
Inert residues can also be used as another granular residue, provided that they are suitable for setting a defined grain spectrum and the required chemical composition for the overall mixture. Suitable granular residues are, for example, ground ash, fly ash, ground residues of building material, etc. The grain size of these residues is preferably chosen so that the mixture of the conditioning agent has an overall broad grain spectrum.
Agricultural recycling is not only the use in agriculture for fertilization, but also the use as a soil additive or soil substrate in landscaping. The process product can therefore also be used very well for recultivation.
Of course, the process products according to the invention can also be landfilled or incinerated, provided there is not sufficient demand for this process product in agriculture or landscaping. These recoveries are also particularly useful if the products contain too many pollutants and / or fly ash, so that they are no longer suitable for agricultural use.
