- A segmented filter cigarette comprising:a) a tobacco rod including at least two segments (1, 2) of differing tobacco fillings;b) a wrapping for said tobacco rod; andc) a filter (3),d) said at least two segments (1, 2) of said tobacco rod have a co-axial structure, each comprising:d1) an inner core (1i, 2i) of tobacco material;d2) a wrapping (11, 21) for said inner core (1i, 2i), which preferably has a low permeability to air;d3) a jacket (1a, 2a) of a tobacco material; andd4) a wrapping (12, 22) for said jacket (1a, 2a), which is highly permeable to air;e) the tobaccos of said inner cores (1i, 2i) of said segments (1, 2) have the same of a very similar condensate potential;f) the tobaccos of said jackets (1a, 2a) of said segments (1, 2) have the same or a very similar condensate potential which differs greatly from the condensate potential of said inner cores (1i, 2i);g) by defining the resistances to draw of said inner cores (1i, 2i) and of said jackets (1a, 2a) of said segments (1, 2), and by adapting said filter (3),g1) the smoke is drawn substantially from the region having a high condensate potential of the first-burning segment (1) during smoking begin of the segmented filter cigarette; andg2) the smoke is drawn preferably from the region of said segment (2) having the lower condensate potential during smoking of the filter-end segment (2).
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 1, characterised in that the overall length of said tobacco rod (1, 2) is 40 to 100 mm, preferably 45 to 70 mm.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 1 or 2, characterised in that said inner cores (1i, 2i) have a diameter from 3 to 6 mm, preferably from 4.5 to 5.5 mm.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that said first-burning segment (1) has a length corresponding to 0.1 to 0.8 times, preferably 0.3 to 0.4 times the overall length of said tobacco rod (1, 2).
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that said inner cores (1i, 2i) and/or said jackets (1a, 2a) of said tobacco rod are provided with an additional, common, outer wrapping (25, 35) produced from cigarette paper or tobacco sheet.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that it comprises a co-axial filter (3) consisting of a filter core (3i), a wrapping (31) for said filter core (3i), a filter jacket (3a) and a wrapping (32) for said filter jacket (3a), said filter core (3i) and said filter jacket (3a) being structured of known filter materials, in particular of fibres or non-woven fabric.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 6, characterised in that said diameter of said filter core (3i) is 2.5 to 6.5 mm, preferably 3.5 to 5.5 mm.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 6 or 7, characterised in that said wrapping (31) of said filter core (3i) consists of paper or a sheet, in particular of cellulose acetate or polyolefines, and has a low permeability to air, it being preferably impermeable to air.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 6 to 8, characterised in that said filter (3) has at least one further filter segment adjoining the mouth end.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 6 to 9, characterised in that one of said two co-axial filter elements (3i, 3a) has a high filtering efficiency whilst the other has a low filtering efficiency.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that the ratio (q1) of the resistance to draw of said jacket (1a) of said first-burning segment (1) to the resistance to draw of said inner core (1i) of said first-burning segment (1) is smaller than the ratio (q2) of the resistance to draw of said jacket (2a) of said filter-end segment (2) to the resistance to draw of said inner core (2i) of said filter-end segment (2), and in that the tobaccos of said jackets (1a, 2a) of said segments (1, 2) have a high condensate potential.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 11, characterised in that the resistance to draw of said jacket (1a) of said first-burning segment (1), relative to a tobacco rod length of 63 mm, is 20 to 40 mm WC, preferably 25 to 35 mm WC, whilst the resistance to draw of said inner core (1i) of this segment (1), relative to a tobacco rod of length 63 mm, is 300 to 600 mm WC, preferably 450 to 550 mm WC.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 11 or 12, characterised in that the resistance to draw of said jacket (2a) of said filter-end segment (2), relative to a tobacco rod length of 63 mm, is 100 to 300 mm WC, preferably 125 to 175 mm WC, whilst the resistance to draw of said inner core (2i) of this segment (2), relative to a tobacco rod of length 63 mm, is 50 to 150 mm WC, preferably 75 to 125 mm WC.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 11 to 13, characterised in that the filtering efficiency of said filter core (3i) is 10 to 60%, preferably 10 to 30%, whilst the filtering efficiency of said filter jacket (3a) is 70 to 100%, preferably 90 to 100%, and in that said filter (3) has a ventilation degree from 0 to 80 %.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 11 to 14, characterised in that the resistances to draw of said filter elements (3i, 3a) are adjusted as a function of filter ventilation used, such that the ratio (sf) of the amount of smoke flowing into said jacket (3a) of said co-axial filter (3) to the amount of smoke flowing into said filter core (3i) of said co-axial filter (3) is substantially equal to the ratio (s2) of the amount of smoke flowing out of said jacket (2a) of said second segment (2) to the amount of smoke flowing out of said inner core (2i) of said second segment (2), namely in each case after said first-burning tobacco rod segment (1) has been smoked.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 1 to 10, characterised in that the ratio (q1) of the resistance to draw of said jacket (1a) of said first-burning segment (1) to the resistance to draw of said inner core (1i) of said first-burning segment (1) is greater than the ratio (q2) of the resistance to draw of said jacket (2a) of said filter-end segment (2) to the resistance to draw of said inner core (2i) of said filter-end segment (2), and in that the condensate potential of the tobacco of said inner cores (1i, 2i) is high.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 16, characterised in that the resistance to draw of said jacket (1a) of said first-burning segment (1), relative to a tobacco rod length of 63 mm, is 100 to 300 mm WC, preferably 125 to 175 mm WC, whilst the resistance to draw of said inner core (1i) of this segment (1), relative to a tobacco rod of length 63 mm, is 50 to 100 mm WC, preferably 70 to 80 mm WC.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in claim 16 or 17, characterised in that the resistance to draw of said jacket (2a) of said filter-end segment (2), relative to a tobacco rod length of 63 mm, is 25 to 100 mm WC, preferably 25 to 40 mm WC, whilst the resistance to draw of said inner core (2i) of this segment (2), relative to a tobacco rod of length 63 mm, is 125 to 300 mm WC, preferably 140 to 160 mm WC.
- The segmented filter cigarette as set forth in any one of claims 16 to 18, characterised in that the filtering efficiency of said filter core (3i) is 70 to 100%, preferably 90 to 100%, whilst the filtering efficiency of the filter jacket (3a) is 10 to 60%, preferably 10 to 30%, and in that the filter has a ventilation degree from 0 to 80%.
