- Such pumps have a relatively high weight, which can hardly be reconciled with the lightweight construction for motor vehicles that is sought today.
- Another disadvantage of generic pumps is the fact that it is often unavoidable that rotating components of the pump have to be stored in the housing, as a result of which friction and thus energy or fuel consumption increase.
- An internal rotor gear oil pump for motor vehicle internal combustion engines is also known from German Offenlegungsschrift No. 32 43 067 A1, which has a heavy housing that completely encloses the two rotors.
- German published patent application DE 41 23 190 A1 describes a pump driven on the outer rotor, which is arranged in a drive wheel or in a deflection roller of the internal combustion engine; the outer rotor is driven by the drive wheel or the deflection roller.
- the disadvantage of the pump described here is that the outer rotor is completely surrounded by the drive wheel, wherein it is mounted on a fixed part by means of a rotating seal, a construction which in turn entails high weight and great friction losses.
- the outer rotor forms the lubricant pump according to the invention together with the drive wheel the outer end of the pump-side part of the lubricant pump.
- This construction makes the formation of a housing completely surrounding the pump or a cup-shaped drive wheel accommodating the outer rotor unnecessary, since the outer rotor, which is fixedly connected to the drive wheel, limits the pump itself to the outside and thus, in an essential property, the function of the housing itself takes over.

- Welded connection as well as pin or bolt connections between the drive wheel and the outer rotor are conceivable.
- connection of the outer rotor to the outer wall of the lubricant guide part can advantageously be realized in that the outer rotor, with its end face facing away from the drive wheel, rests against the end face facing the drive wheel on the outer wall of the lubricant guide part and thus slidably seals both the lubricant supply space and the lubricant discharge space to the outside .
- the friction between the end faces can be kept low by suitable design of the surfaces, the tightness on these surfaces being sufficient for pumps which e.g. are arranged in an oil pan.
- a pressure relief valve on the lubricant guiding part of the pump according to the invention can avoid operational disturbances due to excessive pressure.
- the drive wheel can be centered by means of a fastening screw on the shaft supporting the drive wheel in the carrier section, which is an easily removable overall mounting of the pump if the shaft, as will preferably be the case, faces away from the drive wheel Side of the support part is supported on this.
- the shaft which is preferably slidably mounted on two outer running surfaces in the carrier part, provides these offset plain bearings by means of the design and the axial dimensions the axial play of the pump part. Disks can also be used for fine adjustment or readjustment. There are also other possibilities known to the person skilled in the art for the rotationally fixed, frictional or form-fitting mounting and centering of the drive wheel on the shaft.
- the lubricant pump according to the present invention can be constructed from a metallic material, in particular aluminum.
- the extremely low friction occurring in a lubricant pump designed according to the invention preferably also allows the lubricant guide part to be constructed from a plastic, in particular a thermoplastic.
- the pump part also consists of a plastic, in particular a thermoset.

- the shaft 30 has two stepped sliding seats with which it is centered in the central bore of the carrier section 13.
- a drive wheel 21 provided with a central bore can be placed on the resulting seat of the shaft 30 after the inner rotor 23 has been loosely placed on a drive wheel-side collar of the carrier section 13, which forms its bearing point.
- the outer rotor 22 is fastened to an inner shoulder of the drive wheel 21.
- This attachment can, for example, as shown in the figure, take place by means of a press fit, but can also be realized by other frictional or positive connection methods.
- the axial play of the rotor set 22, 23 can be adjusted in this construction by a suitable choice of the axial lengths of the shaft shoulders.
- a circumferential seal 24 is inserted between the end faces of the outer rotor 22 and the outer wall 12 of the lubricant guide part 10, which serves on the supply side to prevent air from being sucked into the lubricant supply space 15 between the abutting end faces.
- the circulation seal 24 prevents leakage of the lubricant under pressure on this side.
- the inner rotor 23 has one tooth less on the outside than the inner toothing of the outer rotor 22, and when the drive wheel 21 rotates, a negative pressure is generated in the lubricant supply space 15 via the conventional gear pump technology, as a result of which lubricant is sucked into the suction nozzle 11 therein.
- This lubricant is pumped under increasing pressure during the rolling process of the inner and outer rotors 23, 22 into the lubricant discharge space 16, from which it can be fed to its destination via the outlet connection 14.
- a pressure relief valve 18 protects the pump against excessive internal pressures and can thus e.g. counteract destruction of the seal 24.
- Metallic materials in particular aluminum, are suitable as preferred materials for the lubricant guide part 10 and the pump part 20.
- a plastic in particular a thermoplastic such as PA 4.6, PPS or PA 6.6 GF 30.
- the pump part 20 can also be made of a plastic, in particular a thermoset. Examples of preferred materials for this purpose are RX 655 from Vyncolit or Ridurit from Ringsdorf.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a lubricant pump driven on the outer rotor of the type described in the preamble of claim 1.
Kraftstoffverbrauch ansteigen.Such lubricant pumps are known and generally contain a housing which, as a fixed component, has devices for supplying and removing lubricant and, together with a cover which is placed on the side of a drive wheel, closes off the pump on all sides to the outside. Disadvantageously, because of the aforementioned construction of the metallic housing, such pumps have a relatively high weight, which can hardly be reconciled with the lightweight construction for motor vehicles that is sought today. Another disadvantage of generic pumps is the fact that it is often unavoidable that rotating components of the pump have to be stored in the housing, as a result of which friction and thus energy or fuel consumption increase.
From German published patent application DE 36 03 773 A1 is a Known on the outer rotor driven pump, which has a cup-shaped internally toothed drive wheel, which completely receives the outer rotor of the pump and includes it together with a flange plate mounted on a slide bearing on the housing of the pump. The disadvantage of this pump, in turn, is that there is friction on the housing at the bearing points of the end flange and the cup-shaped drive wheel which completely accommodates the outer rotor increases the overall weight of the pump considerably.
An internal rotor gear oil pump for motor vehicle internal combustion engines is also known from German Offenlegungsschrift No. 32 43 067 A1, which has a heavy housing that completely encloses the two rotors.
German published patent application DE 41 23 190 A1 describes a pump driven on the outer rotor, which is arranged in a drive wheel or in a deflection roller of the internal combustion engine; the outer rotor is driven by the drive wheel or the deflection roller. Again, the disadvantage of the pump described here is that the outer rotor is completely surrounded by the drive wheel, wherein it is mounted on a fixed part by means of a rotating seal, a construction which in turn entails high weight and great friction losses.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a lubricant pump which is driven on the outer rotor and which avoids the above disadvantages and has the lowest possible weight and minimizes friction losses.
This object is achieved by the features described in the characterizing part of claim 1.
Appropriate embodiments are defined by the features of the subclaims.
The outer rotor forms the lubricant pump according to the invention together with the drive wheel the outer end of the pump-side part of the lubricant pump.
This construction makes the formation of a housing completely surrounding the pump or a cup-shaped drive wheel accommodating the outer rotor unnecessary, since the outer rotor, which is fixedly connected to the drive wheel, limits the pump itself to the outside and thus, in an essential property, the function of the housing itself takes over.
The drive wheel advantageously only has to be designed so large and complex that it forms a tight outer seal of the pump together with the outer rotor, which results in a noticeable weight saving for the pump.
The generic pump-closing housing can be reduced to a lubricant guide part that slidably seals with the outer rotor, which in turn saves weight.
In the lubricant pump according to the invention, friction no longer occurs between the drive wheel and a fixed part of the pump, but, as far as the outer rotor is concerned, only on its sliding surface on the lubricant guide part. The loose mounting of the inner rotor on a collar of the carrier section has the effect that the friction between the drive wheel and the inner rotor can be reduced to the value which arises at the differential speed.
According to a preferred embodiment of the lubricant pump according to the invention, the drive wheel and the outer rotor can be formed in one piece. However, there is also the possibility of designing the drive wheel and the outer rotor in two parts and connecting them to one another in a frictional or positive manner. Here, the outer rotor can be mounted in a press fit with its outer surface in an inner shoulder of the drive wheel. Furthermore, one Welded connection as well as pin or bolt connections between the drive wheel and the outer rotor are conceivable.
The connection of the outer rotor to the outer wall of the lubricant guide part can advantageously be realized in that the outer rotor, with its end face facing away from the drive wheel, rests against the end face facing the drive wheel on the outer wall of the lubricant guide part and thus slidably seals both the lubricant supply space and the lubricant discharge space to the outside . The friction between the end faces can be kept low by suitable design of the surfaces, the tightness on these surfaces being sufficient for pumps which e.g. are arranged in an oil pan.
In order to further increase the tightness of the above-mentioned surfaces and thus to avoid leaks in the pressure part of the pump and air intake in the suction part of the pump, it is possible to arrange a circumferential seal between the end faces of the outer rotor and the outer wall of the lubricant guide part, which increases the area of application Lubricant pump according to the invention further expanded.
A pressure relief valve on the lubricant guiding part of the pump according to the invention can avoid operational disturbances due to excessive pressure.
In a preferred embodiment, the drive wheel can be centered by means of a fastening screw on the shaft supporting the drive wheel in the carrier section, which is an easily removable overall mounting of the pump if the shaft, as will preferably be the case, faces away from the drive wheel Side of the support part is supported on this. The shaft, which is preferably slidably mounted on two outer running surfaces in the carrier part, provides these offset plain bearings by means of the design and the axial dimensions the axial play of the pump part. Disks can also be used for fine adjustment or readjustment. There are also other possibilities known to the person skilled in the art for the rotationally fixed, frictional or form-fitting mounting and centering of the drive wheel on the shaft.
As usual, the lubricant pump according to the present invention can be constructed from a metallic material, in particular aluminum.
However, the extremely low friction occurring in a lubricant pump designed according to the invention preferably also allows the lubricant guide part to be constructed from a plastic, in particular a thermoplastic.
In a further preferred embodiment, the pump part also consists of a plastic, in particular a thermoset.
The further reduction in weight of the lubricant pump and the possibility of being able to produce the outer rotor with the drive wheel in one piece from plastic are advantageous here.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying figure using an exemplary embodiment.
The single figure shows an embodiment of a lubricant pump according to the invention arranged in an
The stationary
The
In the area of the end of the
The axial play of the rotor set 22, 23 can be adjusted in this construction by a suitable choice of the axial lengths of the shaft shoulders.
In the embodiment shown, a
The
Ringsdorf in Frage.Metallic materials, in particular aluminum, are suitable as preferred materials for the
