Abstract

The device object of the invention is made up from a flexible material hollow body which, acting as a bladder, is applied to the head of a doll so that said head is internally lighted whenever said flexible body of bladder is pressed, and all of the foregoing as consequence of inside it being mounted a bellows operated through an internal valve, so that whenever said bellows is actuated it shall cause the displacement of a pin capable of closing an electric circuit to which is connected a lamp duly supplied by way of a dry cell battery. Whenever the spring is in the resting position, the pin shall be in a position such that the circuit remains open.

Description

  • The invention refers to a timer operated device to light up the interior of the face of a doll with integrated switch, which evident finality is to enable to internally illuminate the face of a doll over a previously set period of time, all of this on the basis of mechanical and pneumatic actuation means, not needing the intervention of any electric devices other than the power supplying dry cell battery and the corresponding contacts that open and close the internal power supply circuit.
  • It is evident that, the device advanced herein is to be applied to doll manufacturing, particularly to the head of a doll, although it may similarly be applied to temporarily illuminate another area or portion of the body of the doll, being furthermore applicable to any practical purpose in which it may be required to illuminate an internal part of area of a given object and then make any such illumination to be discontinued after a certain period of time, without any further handling.
  • More specifically, the device of the invention is made from a flexible material hollow body which, acting as a bladder, is applied to the head of a doll so that it is internally lighted every time that said flexible body of bladder is pressured, and all of the foregoing as a consequence of having fitted inside it a bellows that may be actuated through an internal valve, so that, whenever said bellows is actuated, it shall cause the displacement of a pin capable of closing an electric circuit to which is connected a lamp duly supplied by a dry cell battery. Whenever the bellows is resting, the pin shall be in a position such that the circuit shall remain open.
  • The bladder includes on its wall a second valve communicated with the outside, through which air is admitted from outside after said bladder has been previously pressed, so that the time taken by the air to exit constitutes a lighted lamp timer, given that over that time the path followed by the pin towards its resting position, and therefore towards disconnecting and opening the circuit, keeps the contacts in such a way that said circuit is duly closed.
  • In order to aid a better comprehension of the characteristics of the invention, this patent specification includes, as an integral part thereof, a set of drawings in which, with character merely illustrative and not limitative, the following has been duly represented:
  • Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section view of the device, in its activated position, applied in the corresponding silhouette to a doll head represented by the dotted line.
  • Figure 2 shows a plan view of the side of the device at the level of the electric circuit opening and closing terminals, in the displacement of the pin associated to the bellows.
  • In said figures, the numerical references correspond to the following parts and elements:
    • 1.- Doll head.
    • 2.- Bladder like flexible body.
    • 3.- Membrane valve.
    • 4.- Body rigid support (2).
    • 5. Internal supporting chamber (4).
    • 6.- Bellows.
    • 7.- Plate fixed to the end of the bellows (6).
    • 8.- Spring that tends to compress the bellows (6).
    • 9.- Membrane valve.
    • 10.- Travelling pin.
    • 11.- Cover through which the pin (10) passes.
    • 12.- Supporting neck (4) to which the head (1) is coupled.
    • 13.- Mirror surface plate.
    • 14.- Lighting lamp.
    • 15.- Pin (10) guiding track.
    • 16.- Pin (10) non-conducing end section.
    • 17.- Electric power supply circuit opening and closing terminals (springs).
    • 18.- Power supply dry cell battery.
  • As may be observed in the fore mentioned figures, in its application upon the head (1) of a doll, the device object of the invention is made up of a hollow and flexible body (2) consisting of what may be considered to be a bladder fitted on its wall with a membrane valve (3) through which may enter air from the outside. The bladder (2), which is a rounded but slightly flattened, although its shape is unimportant, is affected by a hole in which is coupled a rigid support (4) made of plastic material, with an internal part that corresponds with the same reference (4), in which is defined a chamber (5) in which is located a bellows (6) with a plate (7), between said plate and the chamber cover (5) is located a spring that tends to compress the bellows (6), being it in communication with a valve (9) fitted at the end of the support (4), remaining inside the bladder (2). To the plate (7) is axially joined a pin (10) that passes through the cover of the chamber (5) and through an external cover (11), from which the support (4) gives shape to a neck (12) serving as the means to couple the neck of the doll itself, that is to say, to the lower part or neck of the head (1). Furthermore, this coupling neck (12) extends into a rectangular plate (13) that is located inside the head (1), making up said plate (13) a mirror and, furthermore, a support for the lighting lamp (14), which is duly lighted through being supplied by a dry cell battery.
  • The pin (10) has a portion (15) that is an electric conductor, whereas a short portion (16) located correspondingly to its free end is not a conductor. Upon the fore mentioned pin (10) are constantly pressed two springs (17) in connection with the positive pole (18) of a power supplying dry battery cell, so that the positive pole of the lamp (14) may be supplied through those springs, the negative pole being directly connected to the lamp.
  • Pursuant to the fore mentioned device features, it is made up of a starting switch, a timing device and finally a turning off switch, so that applied upon the head of the doll as may be observed in figure 1, its operation is as follows:
  • In its resting position, the lamp (14) is switched off given that the terminals (17) are supported upon the non-conducting (16) portion of the pin (10), thus keeping the circuit open.
  • Now well, if the bladder (2) is pressed through the valve (9), the internal air pressure reaches the bellows (6), inflating it and thus producing the displacement and corresponding push of the closing plate (7) of said bellows (6), plate which shall push and pull the pin (10) along its axis, so that upon the pin coming out through the cover (11) it shall cause the springs (17) to impinge upon its power conducing portion (15), closing the circuit which shall supply the lamp (14), so that it shall light up and remain lighted for as long as it takes for the air to exit the bellows (6) through the valve (9), all of the foregoing in combination with the (spring) which shall be the one tending to displace the pin (10) towards its hold back, disconnection position, so that depending upon the strength of the fore mentioned spring (8) the displacement of said pin (10) shall be more or less quick, thus achieving lamp timing, so that the light shall be projected upon the plate mirrored surface (13) towards the part of the head that confronts said mirrored surface, keeping the other part of the head non-illuminated.

Claims (2)

1.- Timer operated device to light up the interior of the face of a doll with integrated switch, essentially characterized because it is made up from a flexible hollow body determining what may be considered to be a bladder fitted on its wall with a membrane valve which purpose is to enable air entry when said bladder has been previously pressed, being it furthermore fitted with a hole on which is mounted a support which, on the one side, leads outside and constitutes a coupling means to, for example, the doll head, whereas on the other side this support is located inside the bladder and carries a communication valve with a bellows located in a chamber shaped inside said support, being said bellows pressed towards a folded position by a spring; with the added feature that the end of that bellows carries a closing plate fitted with an axial pin fitted with a long power conducing portion and a short power insulating portion, upon which pin are constantly supported two terminal connected to a dry cell battery that supplies a lamp mounted upon the mirrored surface of a rectangular plate coming out of the support fitted on the bladder and located inside the head of the doll, all of the above so that pressure upon the bladder and the corresponding unfolding of the bellows due to the pushing effect of the air inside it, causes the displacement of the pin and the contact of its power conducing portion with the power supply terminals, lighting the lamp inside the head.
2.- Timer operated device to light up the interior of the face of a doll with integrated switch, as per claim 1, characterized because the bellows tends to be constantly compressed through the action of a spring which, in combination with a not-totally-closing air valve fitted inside the bladder, determines a lamp off switching timer means, being said timing effect determined by the period of time passing during the bellows folding displacement and until the power supply terminals cease being in contact with the power conducing portion of the pin and make contact with the non-power conducing portion of said pin.
