Abstract

The elastically deformable outer lining comprises a rubber hose drawn at one end onto a short guide sleeve whilst the other end is closed. The short guide sleeve is then pushed onto the core sleeve (6) so that a narrow ring gap remains between the two. The rubber hose/short guide sleeve unit is then inserted in an assembly tube (5) and the other end (7b) of the core sleeve is closed by a stopper (8) having an axial bore (9). Compressed air is fed in through the bore and core sleeve into the rubber hose which is pressed against the inner wall of the assembly tube. The core sleeve is then pushed through the guide sleeve into the rubber hose and the pressure then relaxed. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a method for producing sleeves for winding web-like materials, in particular for winding base papers for photographic layers.

Winding cores are generally made of paper or cardboard, as well as plastic, metal or wood.

The following requirements are placed on the cores for winding photographic base papers, papers or foils:
  • The paper weight must not cause the sleeve to bend.
  • The sleeve cross-section must not deform during the winding or unwinding process.
  • The sleeve must have a defined moisture content and, if necessary, contain a metal moisture barrier to prevent moisture exchange between the sleeve and the paper.
  • The sleeve must be resistant to abrasion, ie the sleeve surface must not be damaged when the sheet material is fixed with the aid of an adhesive tape and the tape is subsequently removed.
  • The sleeve surface must be even and have no markings.
  • The coated sleeves may only be statically chargeable to a small extent, so that undesirable contamination of the web material by the dust particles attracted by the sleeve is avoided.
  • The coating of the sleeve must be photochemically compatible if the web material is a photographic base paper.

Due to a certain winding thickness, there is a strong radial pressure inside the roll near the sleeve. This pressure leads to the pressing of unevenness on the material web, such as the web edge and the adhesive tape used to fix the web. This creates clearly visible, undesirable markings, which can be seen on paper on the last 20 to 40 m of the web. This material is to be assessed as a committee.

Attempts have been made to counteract the problem of marks and marks by producing particularly hard, ground sleeves. After that, the markings caused by the unevenness of the sleeve surface no longer occur, but the markings caused by the web edge and the web fixation cannot be avoided.

Another attempt to solve this problem is the use of sleeves described in DE-OS 3610557, which corresponds to the preamble of claim 1, which sleeves are coated with a deformable, mainly foamed material. This allows the Reduce unwanted markings and the associated rejects to about 5 to 10 m. The disadvantage of these sleeves is that they are difficult to dispose of due to their composite nature and the production is more complex.

The materials hitherto used for coating the sleeves are fixed in the form of a tube, tape or film with the aid of an adhesive on the sleeve surface, or they can be applied by extrusion or foaming. The type of coating and its fixation on the sleeve surface is complex and complicates the disposal of the sleeves.

According to a first embodiment, the elastic hose is pulled onto the roller for a short length by hand and closed at the other end by pulling it down onto a mouthpiece connected to a compressed air pump. Now the tube is inflated and pulled over the roller in the inflated state. A prerequisite for this procedure is a certain intrinsic strength, ie a certain thickness of the hose, since otherwise it can be damaged. According to a second embodiment, a negative pressure is generated between a hollow body and the elastic hose inserted therein and the latter is thus sucked onto the inner wall of the mounting tube. The widening and fixing of the hose with negative pressure requires a great deal of effort to seal between the hose and the assembly pipe. Another disadvantage is that the object to be coated is no longer sliding on an air cushion can be inserted into the hollow body. Any impact of the roller on the rubber hose can cause damage, so this procedure is not recommended.

According to DE-PS 645 917, a tube is inflated outside a hollow body, but attached to it, and the object to be covered with the tube is inserted into the expanded tube. A disadvantage of this procedure is that the hose is not fixed in the hollow body. Like the previously described embodiments, this procedure can only be carried out for hoses with a certain wall thickness.

The object of the invention is therefore to propose a method for producing sleeves for winding sheet-like materials, the sleeves not causing any undesirable markings in the sheet-like materials and thus reducing the usual rejects to a minimum and which can moreover be disposed of without problems.

This problem is solved by the measures specified in claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the method according to claim 1 are characterized in the subclaims.

This method is particularly suitable for winding base papers for photographic layers.

A rubber tube is pressed with the help of a mounting tube on its inner wall by inflation with compressed air or similar pressure medium with a pressure of 0.2 to 0.5 bar, then the mounting tube is pushed onto the core sleeve with a rubber tube and after releasing the pressure, it lies tight against the core sleeve, with a pressure being exerted on the surface of the core sleeve by the rubber tube, which firmly holds the rubber tube in place.

After applying the rubber hose, the protruding hose ends are cut off with the help of a heated knife, thus protecting the edges against tears.

The core sleeve used for the production of the sleeves according to the invention is in particular a cardboard sleeve, the surface of which can be unprocessed.

Das Verhältnis des Innendurchmessers des Gummischlauches zum Außendurchmesser der Kernhülse beträgt 0,70 : 1 bis 0,95 : 1.The ratio of the inner diameter of the rubber tube to the outer diameter of the core sleeve is 0.70: 1 to 0.95: 1.

The thickness of the rubber tube ranges from 0.5 to 5 mm, in particular 1 to 3 mm. The material of the rubber hose is a rubber with a hardness of 20 to 50 shore, in particular 30 to 45 shore.

In a special embodiment of the invention, the rubber material is an acid-resistant, plasticized rubber.

Surprisingly, it has been found that the sleeves produced according to the invention reduce the amount of material scrap from the currently usual approximately 40 m per roll in the case of paper to less than 5 m. The advantage here is that the paper remaining on the sleeve is present in an amount that protects the rubber surface of the sleeve and secures it for transportation. In this way, such a sleeve can be reinserted after it has been freed from the remaining paper and cleaned.

The cardboard sleeve used as the core sleeve also no longer needs a moisture barrier made of a wrapped aluminum foil and is therefore easily recyclable.

Since the rubber coating only adheres to the surface of the core sleeve due to its inherent tension, no composite material is created. If the sleeve is defective, the knife can cut the rubber tube from the core sleeve in the simplest way and both materials can be brought back into the circuit as materials.

The adhesive tape used to fix the paper web edge can be removed from the rubber surface again without damaging the surface of the sleeve.

The invention will now be described in more detail using an exemplary embodiment which is illustrated in the drawing.

A core sleeve 6 made of cardboard is to be given a uniform casing in the form of a rubber tube 1. This can be of different thicknesses, as can the core sleeves 6 of different lengths and diameters.

The process begins by selecting a rubber tube 1 of a certain length and wall thickness, pulling it onto a short guide sleeve 3 at its end 2a, and shutting off the other end 2b by a clamp 4. Then, as can be seen from FIG. 2, this structure comprising a rubber hose 1 and a short guide sleeve 3 is inserted into an assembly tube 5. The guide sleeve 3 together with the end 2a of the rubber tube 1 located thereon is plugged onto one end 7a of the core sleeve 6 and the other end 7b of the core sleeve is closed with a stopper 8. The plug 8 has a bore 9 to which a compressed air line (not shown) is connected.

The mounting tube 5 is dimensioned in its inner diameter so that the guide sleeve 3 and the rubber hose end 2a located thereon are movable therein with good play. The inner diameter of the guide sleeve 3 is also such that the end 7a of the core sleeve 6, which is inserted therein, has a certain play in the form of an annular gap so does not close tightly. If air is now pressed under pressure into the core sleeve 6 and the rubber tube 1 via the bore 9, the tube 1 inflates until it lies snugly on the inner surface of the mounting tube 5. Now the core sleeve 6 can be pushed into the rubber tube 1 by the guide sleeve 3 without difficulty and without using force. The air escaping through the narrow annular gap 10 between the guide sleeve 3 and the core sleeve 6 serves as a bearing, so that there is no friction between the inner surface of the core sleeve 6 and the core sleeve has assumed the position shown in FIG. 4. Now the compressed air supply is switched off and the terminal 4 is removed. The rubber tube 1 now tries to return to its original dimension and thereby lies firmly around the outer surface of the core sleeve 6 and exerts an adjustable contact pressure. At the same time, the rubber tube 1 separates from the inner surface of the mounting tube 5. After removing the clamp 4 and removing the guide sleeve 3 together with the plug 8, the structure shown in FIG. 5 is shown from the cardboard core sleeve 6 with the rubber tube 1 lying thereon.

The protruding ends 11 and 12 of the rubber tube 1 are now cut off by means of a hot knife, and the winding tube according to the invention is thus completed. It then has the shape shown in FIG. 6.
