Die Erfindung sieht deshalb vor, sowohl die optischen Karten als auch die Lese/Schreib-Geräte so zu markieren, daß nur die so markierten optischen Karten durch die zugehörigen Lese/Schreib-Geräte verarbeitet werden können. Wird beispielsweise eine optische Karte in das Lese/Schreib-Gerät eingegeben, welches diese spezielle elektronische Markierung nicht trägt, wird diese optische Karte als fehlerhaft wieder ausgegeben. Umgekehrt kann eine auf diese Art und Weise speziell markierte optische Karte auch nicht von "normalen" Lese/Schreib-Geräten bearbeitet werden. Durch diesen Schutz ist also gewährleistet, daß ausschließlich nur herstellerspezifische optische Karten mit herstellerspezifischen Lese/Schreib-Geräten bearbeitet werden können.This creates electronic protection for optical cards, which protects against misuse by unauthorized persons. Dadurch ist eine technisch einfache Möglichkeit gegeben, um dem geschilderten Mißbrauch vorzubeugen. Zu diesem Zweck werden vom Hersteller die optischen Karten bereits mit dem herstellerspezifischen elektronischen Schlüssel versehen. Die so markierten optischen Karten werden dann an den Endverbraucher ausgegeben. Prinzipiell wäre es nämlich natürlich noch möglich, daß Unbefugte ein entsprechendes Markierungsprogramm, insbesondere ein in der erfindungsgemäßen Weise modifiziertes Formatierprogramm verwenden, um herstellerfremde optische Karten zu formatieren, so daß die so markierten optischen Karten dazu verwendet werden können, um sie mit dem herstellerseitig modifizierten Lese/Schreib-Gerät zu benutzen. Um dies zu verhindern, wird gemäß der vorliegenden Weiterbildung insbesondere beim Formatieren von der entsprechenden Software herstellerseitig jede optische Karte zusätzlich noch mit einem eigenen Paßwort versehen. Die optischen Karten erhalten somit einen herstellerspezifischen, softwaremäßigen Paßwortschutz, und zwar zusätzlich zu der ohnehin vorhandenen Markierung. Erst dieser Paßwortschutz kennzeichnet die so herausgegebenen optischen Karten als von einem bestimmten Hersteller stammend. Somit kann der erfindungsgemäße Schutz für optische Karten nicht durch handelsübliche Formatierprogramme umgangen werden, sofern jemand die Absicht hätte, ein derartiges Formatierprogramm zum speziellen Formatieren der optischen Karten zu verwenden. Hierzu bedarf es dann zusätzlich noch eines ganz spezifischen Paßwortes. Umgekehrt bedeutet der Paßwortschutz der optischen Karten die Sicherung der Daten durch unerlaubten Zugriff und Mißbrauch durch Unbefugte im Sinne eines Datenschutzes der auf die optischen Karte geschriebenen Informationen. Somit wird weiterhin durch dieses Schutzsystem ein Datenschutz der auf der optischen Karte geschriebenen Daten garantiert, d.h. diese Daten können durch nicht autorisierte Lese/Schreib-Geräte nicht eingesehen werden, da der Abruf der Daten mittels eines ganz bestimmten Lese/Schreib-Gerätes die Kenntnis des einprogrammierten Paßwortes voraussetzt.Finally, it is proposed in a further development that a password is additionally assigned by software to the optical card from the manufacturer. So zeigt Fig. 1 zum einen das normale Lese/Schreib-Gerät samt zugehöriger normaler optischer Karte. Diese beiden "Normalkomponenten" sind miteinander kompatibel. Ursprünglich hard- und softwaremäßig gleiche Lese/Schreib-Geräte werden also durch den Einbau eines speziellen "Programm-Chips" und durch die Vorprogrammierung der optischen Karten in zwei verschiedene Generationen aufgeteilt, die nur untereinander kompatibel sind.
