Description

The invention relates to a method in the preamble of claim 1 mentioned type for attaching handles to metal containers and a device according to Claim 4 for performing the method.

Through US-PS 1,670,131 is a method of the concerned Kind known in the first to a metal container ears welded using the hump welding process each have a hole in which a hook hooked onto the end of a bow-shaped handle. The Ears consist of a bowl-shaped body, from the edges of which extend a flange from which rib-shaped Humps protrude while the hole in the ground of the base body. To connect the ears with the flanges of the ears are attached to the metal container the humps through an outer electrode against the outer wall of the container, on the inside of a counter electrode is present. Due to the increased contact resistance Resistance wear occurs in the area of the humps in the area of the hump. After Attachment of the ears must be done by hanging the bracket with the Hooks into the holes in the ears are done by hand. The manufacturing cost are therefore relatively high.

Through the company publication "Fully Automatic Ear Welding and Bailing Line Series 40 "from MFB Maschinenfabrik GmbH in D-38021 Braunschweig is a device to carry out a method of the aforementioned Kind known in which the handle in the machine formed from pieces of wire and with their hook-shaped Ends inserted into the holes in the ears become. Attaching plastic handles is not possible with this known device.

GB 2082481 A is a method of attachment known from handles on metal containers, where the container with rivet holes for insertion and attachment of a rivet are provided as Swivel and bracket for one at its ends with Holed handles. The assembly takes place in such a way that first a handle in a position is brought in, in each case a hole at one end of a handle with a rivet hole in the container is aligned and a locating pin can be passed through both holes. Then one Rivet through each pair of aligned Holes at one end of the handle and in the container and the respective localization pen brought such that the shaft of the rivet within each pair of holes sits. Then the Riveting the rivet shaft in the hole in the container and the withdrawal of the localization pen. This known method has the disadvantage that in the container rivet holes are required that the Holes at the ends of the handles to the rivet holes aligned, then insert the rivet into the rivet holes must be done before riveting can. This alignment of the different holes to each other, which requires a rotation of the container to bring the rivet holes in the container in the insertion and riveting position is extraordinary awkward, apart from the fact that the Rivet holes need to be made in the container.

The invention is based on the object Process for attaching handles to containers To create metal that is easy to carry out and for the mechanical attachment of handles made of plastic suitable is. The object of the invention is also a Device for performing this method create.

The object underlying the invention will by that specified in the characterizing part of claim 1 Procedure solved. It is also indicated in the license plate of claim 4 specified device solved.

The invention is based on the idea of a Handle made of plastic and a flange and intended as a journal for the handle First bring the eyelet together and then the eyelet the well-known hump welding process on the metal weld existing container. The welding process is done while the plastic existing handles already on the eyelet and thus in Welding area. During the welding process usually made of thermoplastic material existing handles are not damaged or melted. The resistance welding points formed on the humps do not lead to such an increase the temperature of the eyelet causing an impairment of the plastic handle. For this also contributes to the fact that the cold, on the Eye attached to the welding electrode during the welding process for heat dissipation from the eyelet straight in contributes to the area where the ends of the handle with those serving as camps Holes are located on the eyelets. This is usually on the cylindrical part of the eyelet away from the humps and the welds when the curved handle is under is subject to a bending stress and thus its ends outside presses. A particular advantage of the invention The procedure is that a subsequent cumbersome Attach the handle, for example, by unbuttoning it the ends of the handle with holes on the Eyelets or a subsequent crimping of the eyelets for formation of holding flanges to prevent the ends from sliding off the handle is omitted.

A particularly useful development of the invention is characterized in claim 2 and consists in that the handles immediately before attaching them to the containers be formed by a plastic tape from a roll unwound and cut to length according to the length of the handles , holes in or after being cut to length the ends of the cut sections of the plastic tape be introduced. In this way, a complex, complicated transportation and orientation of prefabricated Handle to the place of attachment, being unwinding the tape from a wrap and feed to that No particular difficulty in cutting to length.

Basically, it is possible to attach the handle to the container attached while they are moving. Appropriately it is, however, according to the training according to claim 3 Forming the handles and / or attaching them to the containers with pilgrim-like movement of the handles and / or containers to effect. The individual process steps effecting devices and tools can thus be stationary his.

Ansprüche 5 und 6 kennzeichnen zweckmäßige Weiterbildungen der Vorrichtung gemäß Anspruch 4.A particularly useful device for implementation of the method according to the invention is in claim 4 specified. Claims 5 and 6 characterize useful further developments the device according to claim 4.

  • With reference to the drawings, the method according to the invention is to be explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment of a device shown in principle according to the invention for carrying out this method.
  • Fig. 1 is a view of the device in the conveying direction of the container and
  • FIG. 2 is a view of the device according to FIG. 1 transversely to the conveying direction of the containers.
Beim Ablängen stanzt die Ablängeinrichtung 5 gleichzeitig Löcher 7 in die Enden der abgelängten Stücke.1 shows a plastic tape 1 made of rigid material, that runs from a winding, not shown, and by means of transport in the form of rollers 2 and 3 in the direction an arrow 4 into a by a dash-dotted line Line cutting device 5 indicated only schematically is transported, the plastic band 1 in individual Pieces to length, one of which is shown as a handle strip 6. When cutting to length, the cutting device 5 punches at the same time Holes 7 in the ends of the cut pieces.

Below the cut handle strips 6 is a Conveyor belt 8, which, like that in particular 2 can be seen, container 9 in the direction of a Arrow 10 transverse to the direction of the plastic tape 1 or the handle strip 6, indicated by arrow 4, pilgrim-like emotional. A device 11 is used in each case Handle strip 6 fed to a projection welding device 12 and bent into a handle shape: a handle bent in this way is provided with the reference number 13 in FIG. 1 and in FIG. 3 shown facing his side.

From Fig. 1 it can be seen that above the curved Ends of the handles 13 are each supplied with rows of eyelets 14 and 15 are, after isolation by not shown Funds are brought into one position, with the holes in the ends of the handles 13 swear. In this position two eyelets 16 and 17 are shown. They each consist of a cylindrical part, on the front edge of the container 9 facing hump are small surveys, which in a later Welding process form the spot welds. At their end facing away from the container 9, the Eyelets 16 and 17 each have flanges that slip later the ends of the handles 13 from the eyelets 16 and 17, respectively prevent this as a bearing journal on the container 9 are welded on.

In Fig. 1 are each with the eyes 16 and 17 and with the holes in the ends of the handle 13 aligned Welding electrodes 18 and 19 arranged on their front Each end have centering pins for centering the eyelets 16 and 17 serve and in the drawing are not recognizable because they are relatively small. The welding electrodes 18 and 19 are in the Hump welding device 12 shown in FIG. 2. In this projection welding device 12 are also counter electrodes provided that is not shown in the drawing are and to carry out the welding process from above are each inserted into a container 9 so that they then a counter bearing for the welding electrodes 18 and 19 represent.

When performing the procedure and operating the in the 1 and 2 device is shown gradually a plastic tape 1 through the rollers 2 and 3 in the direction of the arrow 4 in the cutting device 9, the so handle strips 6 provided with holes 7 at the ends. These are bent and their ends in a fastening position each led to a container 9, the is gradually introduced through conveyor belt 8. Of the row of eyelets 14 and 15 each become the attachment position performed where in Fig. 1 just the eyelets 16 and 17 are shown. Then the welding electrodes 18 and 19 moved towards the container 9, so that the eyelets 16 and 17 in the holes aligned therewith the handle 13 moves and with its humps against the wall of the container 9 are pressed, the not shown Counter electrodes form the counter bearing. By the conducted welding current takes place in the area of the hump welding the eyelets 16 and 17 to the container 9, without the plastic of the handle 13 in the area of it Ends is compromised. This is mainly because because the welding electrodes 18 and 19 dissipate heat and thus cause cooling. After the welding process the welding electrodes withdrawn and the counter electrodes moved up from the container 9, after which the container 9 through the conveyor belt 8 by one step in the direction the arrow 10 (see Fig. 2) is moved. Thereby is another container on the conveyor belt 8 under the projection welding device 12 moves and in the described Way with a newly added handle.
